Most of names we got that given by our parents have reasons. It would because of a fan of someone, favorite place, favorite character, religious, signify something or meant something.
Although I haven't ask my parents or my mother why they gave me this name. I tried to researched the root and the meaning of it on the web. When I read an english book denotes english names, I saw my name derive from old english known as british english for us today that mine was from a root of jester a clown for royal family and A name of a king. Although I dont like the meaning its still ok since I know the root of my name. I tried to find the meaning of my name in japanese because I like the way they incorporate meanings to every names and my name means something related to holy and light. Although it doesn't represents my personality because I'm more on the geeky or smart, serious, responsible in the family. No matter what, one thing is for sure!. I have to talk to my mom to know why they give me this name.

Hi there, my name in English dictionary means to put a person in trial. Yes, my name seems to denote a tough and strong person which I could say that I am sometimes like that. But the real reason why my parents, specifically my dad gave me my name was because he wanted his children to be named after a singer with three letter name. Hence, I was named after a singer, and indeed I love music and I love singing. The rest of my siblings were also named after a singer.

Thats sounds cool. Three letter word that denotes somehow like justice or to put in trial sounds cool to me another its short not like others had long names and many nick names but yours would be easy to remember and i guess its just one syllable so you dont have to cut your name.

I was also curious about my name's meaning so I tried to research it, and it means orchard or garden. And for me, it seems pretty interesting because the first thing that came to my mind is that maybe I am meant to grow into fruitful things in life. And that thought just came from a more positive attitude in my head. :)
At the same time, there is an entertaining and funny side to the reason why my parents gave me that name. I am the eldest and my parents initially thought that they were going to give birth to a baby boy. They wanted to follow tradition to name the baby after the father, thus with a Junior at the end. But it turned out that they had me, a girl. So with no other choice, but to still name me after my father, they turned to the feminine version of my father's name. :)
And I really love my name, I wouldn't change it even if I had a chance. :)

Hi resutaa!
I've asked my mother about my name before. She said there's no reason in particular why they chose my name. But after some thought, she said she got it from the greatest magician during King Arthur's period. Yep, it was Merlin. She said because Merlin was smart and she liked movies about King Arthur and his knights. As to my personality, I'm not sure if I'm like Merlin because I don't know how Merlin behaved then. I just know he's loyal to King Arthur and that he loved Lady Vivian of the lake? But I guess my mother believes that me and Merlin are both smart.

I'm kind of named after my father, I suppose that's why they gave me my first name. Since I have my mothers family name. My first name is an old Norse name and means "she who likes strength/Thor (the God of Thunder)". My second name means Smith's bay, it used to be gold smith's bay but the gold disappeared. Don't have a lot of it now I'm afraid :-)

Old folks in the Philippines would refer to the Roman Catholic calendar for names of children born on that day. The Catholic calendar has a list of saints to be celebrated daily for their works and significance. The children born that day would be named after the saint.
Had my parents followed that custom, I would have ended up with a name Pedro which, aside from being the name of the saint and first Pope celebrated by the Roman Catholic Church, also means "rock." My family name is Bantiles, which means "flint" or "hard stone." In Malay, I think it means "hard pebble." It is a good thing that there was a popular film actor at that time named Rogelio dela Rosa. My parents named me after him.
In these times, the practice of naming children after saints whose feast day falls on their date of birth is diminishing. Now, parents often choose the names of people of local or international renown. Or they give the names of their friends and idols. Others just continue to use the given names of their forebears - thus you have the name of the person and the Roman numeral/s after the family name. In the past two decades too, two given names have become popular. This was right after the Latin American movies made successful inroads into local television. Their characters had two given names pronounced fully on the screen.
Of course, in the 1950s, priests baptizing the children whose names were not in the calendar would grumble and attempt to change the parents' mind about the names. There were even incidents of priests refusing to baptize the child, with the result that the parents would become Protestants and have the child baptized there. But then, customs and practices change. Now the name Minda and Luzviminda are quite common. Minda is the shortened form of Mindanao, and Luzviminda is the shortened combination of Luz(on), Vi(sayas), and Minda(nao).

My grandpa gave me my name. When I was born, he just get a dictionary and found a word which he liked or had some special meaning. My parents didn't participate and just accepted. Maybe it's because of my grandpa's position in the family. That's it. I got my name. ha ha ...

My name is Desiree which is French for "desired" or "desired one". It really was just a last minute decision on my mother's part, in the hospital. I was supposed to be Veronica so I could be Ronnie like my dad. Or Toby if I had been a boy. As far as I know the last minute change wasn't to honor anyone, just a whim, I guess.
I have kind of joked with friends that I want to have two kids, a girl and a boy and name them Parker and Poe, respectively, after Dorothy Parker and Edgar Allen Poe.

Some people give names to his car for example, The Racer or so in love with the game ball, he gave the name to the ball such as the Dynamite.
If for example there is no, is there any intention to give the name of your favorite items in the future? What is the name that will be given?

This is interesting question .Every name should have a specific meaning to it then only it really make some sense .But we should not forget that naming is totally cultural based and choices depend upon the vocabulary of the language practised in that culture .
I do not know much about how naming is done in western culture but naming a child is very sacred ritual which is compulsory for everyone especially hindus in South east Asian countries like India .It is called "Namakarana Sanskara" .This ritual signifies the importance of meaning attached to the names of individuals .
Naming system in its initial period aimed at shaping the personality of individual according to his name but nowadays it has become quite difficult to find someone whose personality matches his name's meaning .
