Ranking Number in mylot discussions

Still new and still learning. I have a question that I know veteran mylotters can answer. And you have all come through so many times. Regarding the ranking when we begin a discussion. For instance, I begin a discussion in one of my interests. After posting, I get a ranking. As an example, I will use "ranked 1,500 out of 4,000". This is just an example. What does that mean? And how did I get this ranking? I see this ranking on every discussion and maybe every response. Is it better to be better to be 3,900 out of 4,000 or 400 out of 4,000?

Either way, you're still rank. The other people answered the basics. The thing I wonder is if the ranking is over a specific period or if it counts absolutely all your posts, ever. So if I stopped posting now, would my rank stay around the same level for ages, until some other nutter came along and babbled incoherently in my place? It'd be funny to be high-ranking and totally absent...

That's what's called an "iffy" computer.

Incidentally, do your bar graphs work on the rankings? Mine are all blank. Like my brain.

Thanks for your input. Because of other mylotters, I slowly learn about mylot. What would I do without all of you who have guided me?
