Cartoons is indeed a good way to be shown on children good manners and values in life nor fun and entertainment to kids due to its wonderful color, catchy and wacky character. The music also adds the curiosity and fun and excitement to every cartoons. From this new generation, alot of cartoons were made but most of the cartoons were just made for entertainment and ratings without minding the values and the effects of these cartoons to the little minds of the kids. On your experienced or observation what are the cartoons that should have guidance or should not be shown and why?

I absolutely hate most of the children's cartoons these days. There is one that is about fairies and they are so stuck up. All they do is shop and treat each other badly. I don't necessarily think that all children's cartoons should be totally focused on morals or anything, but I do think that too many are actually negatively influencing children. I wish they would come out with more things like Beetlejuice, which ironically, they said was too morbid or something. That show is so cute. The only cartoons I watch these days are not for children, but for teens and young adults like Family Guy, Archer, South Park, Ugly Americans, etc. Most cartoons these days are just knock-offs anyway.

The cartoon that you are talking about is The Fairly Oddparents? If it is, my niece really like to watch this cartoon. I have to say that from the new cartoons, this one is not the worst. I don't like the new cartoons either, I think the old ones are so much better. Sometimes, when is on TV, I watch cartoons like Flinstones, Jetsons, Doug, Hey Arnold...they were so much better! And I seriously don't understand too how Sponge Bob is popular, I watch for 5 minutes and I already can't stand it. But, in a world where Teletubbies were so popular too, I really don't understand anything.

Don't forget the mind numbing (yet wildly popular) sponge bob series. I have never understood that one. It's a sponge...doing disgusting or pointless things in a soggy environment. Like I said, I don't get it. I desire to keep my wits sharp, so I don't want to understand how a show like that is so widely watched.

I don't think all cartoons should be banned. It's true that many cartoons today are no more than mindless crap with brats running around belching, but the banning of all cartoons is not the solution. Live action TV with real people can communicate immoral values just as some cartoons do. Instead we should pressure the industry to change. I think a better solution would be to motivate the producers behind cartoons to do better. In music they have the Grammy Awards. In Hollywood there are the Oscars. In the realm of novels, there is Pulitzer Prize and many more. As far as I know, the cartoon world doesn't have any prestigious awards. If such an award were to become established, it might motivate cartoon makers to stop making trash and put more effort into their cartoons. The commercial art worlds today are quite crowded. You need something to set you apart if you want to be noticed. In most cases that is superior work that critics will recognize favorably. However with cartoons, it seems that the way to be noticed is to put the must hyperactive, crude and rude crap as possible. If this attitude was changed, and if quality was rewarded instead of stupidity, we might seen some worthwhile cartoons.

You got indeed a good point. Most of film makers at this days tend just to think about earning awards, money and fame not realising the essence of their works although earning is also important but the give heart at every film you do and see the viewers learned, enjoyed, smiled and got your message not just by mind but in heart is surely better than winning any prestigeous awards because its priceless.

i never seen cartoons in my whole life that contains violence, what i mean is the way an opponent kills his victim is not in a bloody scene... for example in the violent cartoons.... an opponent trying to stab a knife to his enemy, but that enemy only deflect that knife... he in turn retaliate with a punch, and that punch hit and contact to his opponent's head.... therefore, knife stubbing doesn't hit... as punch really contacts.... making it the cartoon less violent

Which cartoons are you talking about? The older adult ones? I don't get how this affects little children. If you are worried about that then you should be more concerned on how they can watch it in the first place. I enjoy more mature cartoons like Family Guy and i don't think they should be banned. A lot of people really enjoy the show, but it shouldn't be shown to little kids. Anything cartoons they see should be perfectly safe for them.

Family Guy is my favorite cartoon! I would never let my children see this show. First, because that's definitely is not an example for anyone. Second, because they would not understand most of the joked. But, I think with this world, when they already teenagers, they pretty much already saw much things worse than that.

Our son is encouraged to watch the older cartoons at home. We subscribe to Boomerang and we watch classics like the Flintstones, smurfs, jetsons, etc. He is not allowed to watch Spongebob in this house. We watch the cartoons with him. Some of the kids shows on tv that are not animated are even bad. On Icarly somebody was dancing on a table.

I think cartoons are really suited for young people and even adults young in heart.Cartoons were made to entertain us with the catchy and wacky moves.I think It should not be banned because They sometimes help the children stimulate their minds by just watching on it and yes, their are other cartoons which are violent which in that case should be banned.

cartoons should not be banned of course if they do I will be one of the million would protest. But we can't deny the fact that their are a lot of pointless cartoon showing violence and rude manner. I think the best solution for it is to supervise small kids from watching inter-act with them while watching and explaining them.

I'm surprised how kids' shows have changed in just 10 years. Thinking back on what I watched when I was a kid I'm surprised at how mindless the shows are nowadays. It's a lot of rude humor and puppets. It's almost scary! Although, every kid reacts different to what they see on television. Just last year a boy saved another boy from drowning and he said he knew what to do from watching Spongebob! But what really grinds my gears? Wonderpets and the duck with the speach impediment. Children that young are learning how to talk, let's give them a good example! lol

wow saved from drowning because of spongebob thats something new. To tell you guys your comments are true I wish somebody in the film industry should look at our comments and think. I remember before old cartoon like mickey mouse, or classic cartoon without words just mere actions on depending on the music yet you still understand the situation and have alot of moral lessons at the end of the film. One that i could not forget would be mickey with the magician.

@HannahSavage That's amazing! This boy became a hero by watching Spongebob? What exactly happened as to how he saved the other boy from drowing? I'm sure those two are probably going to be friends for life.

Hi resutaa! I think most cartoons nowadays should really be watched by children only with parental guidance. Like for example, Ben 10 and all other action adventure cartoons that present violence and fighting should only be watched by children when an adult is around. Not only because adults should explain why kids should not copy the fighting and all that violent stuff, but also to explain that aliens aren't real, super powers aren't real, and all those fictional stuffs that aren't real. Even Tom and Jerry, it's an old cartoon but it is still aired at some places. I think that cartoon should be banned because it's pure violence. Tom and Jerry are always hurting each other but turns out fine always. Children might misunderstood that and think that fighting and hurting each other is not a bad thing because they immediately get better, like no harm done when in fact in real life, it's not that true. It's really hard to find educational cartoons nowadays, those that aren't concerned of the ratings.

Personally, I don't think any cartoons should be banned as if they're airing then obviously a good amount of people watch them and enjoy watching them. If you don't enjoy them, don't watch them. If you don't want your children watching them, don't let them. It makes sense to me. Growing up, Ren and Stimpy was extremely popular and everyone loved it at my school and such. Even my brother and sister (both half siblings) loved watching it at their mother's house. My mother, however, didn't think it was appropriate so I didn't watch it. I think people expect too much out of cartoons. They're not necessarily meant to be educational. If you want your children to learn something then take them away from the TV and teach them yourself if you're really that concerned about it. Cartoons are fun, though, and they really don't hurt anything if you watch them in moderation. My daughter's 5 months and her great grandfather spoiled her watching TV in the afternoon so now she knows that she can watch a few minutes (it's usually not more than 15) of some cartoon like Spongebob or Scooby Doo as she gets settled for her nap and goes to sleep.

I don't agree with censorship, so there's no cartoon that I would ever suggest as something that should be banned. Cartoons are not only made for kids. There are a lot of cartoons oriented to the adult viewers, and that's why they're aired in different time sections in tv. You can always control what your kid watches in tv and whatnot if you worry that it might be a bad influence

Of course SESAME STREET nothing better to educate children in ways that are more fun as watching sesame street, has even been proven by many children around the world who watch Sesame Street growing more rapidly they will not like the show / movie the other too provide education so that makes the children feel bored.

I don't think any of the cartoons should be banned because they are all awesome. Ya there are bad things but there are bad things every where! I saw some little kid movies and they were g or pg and they had suggestive stuff witch surprised me...but it wouldn't matter because the kids probably don't get it but the older people do so idk how that would work so my final answer would be NO don't banned them!!!!

I dont think cartoons should be banned as kids depend on them. The problem with most of the cartoons is that they are very violent and that can have an affect on the children as they like to immitate their favourite cartoon character. They should be something that make the children smile and not something that will teach them wrong. A lot of the new generation cartoons are really not meant for the children as they do not potray a good message. Cartoons should be with a lot of humour rather than violence..

'Cartoons should be banned.' You gotta be kidding. I love cartoons and watch them through my childhood. Although now people produce too much cartoons which makes the quality problems, cartoons still bring us fun, knowledge and spirit etc. Kids need them.

I agree with you. There are cartoons that needs to be banned. I always keep watch of what cartoons my child is watching. I would move the channel when she watches cartoons where there are fighting and screaming. I wish they can create more meaningful cartoons where children can get a lot to learn from.
