Expensive electricity bill

I guess the heat coming a bit early this year, during the month of June, we already got over 90 degrees in temperature, continue until now. To keep us cool from such hot summer days, we definitely will turn on the A/C more often, no matter at home or in your car. The A/C at my home will turn on almost every day, except the raining days, hopefully the rain will cool us down. From this month electricity bill, we got over $126. Another co - worker of mine paid around $200; another person paid over $600 for his electricity bill. That is outrageous, don't you think? Maybe he got a big house, and he turn 2 A/C at his house. Was your electric bill cost too much too?

The weather has been very unusual, cold one day, and hot one day. That's keeping the weather men busy. And, yes, the electricity bills have been going up too. The increase in the crude oil prices is also having a big impact on the electricity prices I presume.

Where do you live? Here in Baltimore, MD it's been nothing but heat, heat and more heat. Today is one of those cooler days when it's only in the upper 80s close to 90.

When it's summer where I live, my parents spend a lot of money paying the eletric bills. Usually on summer, I spend my vacations on my parent's house, so there's one more A/C to use. In our apartment, we have 3 A/C and we let it on almost all day if the day is really hot. We usually spend around $500 per month on summer.

Luckily we live in WA State and it has been a lot cooler for us than normal here, so our Electric bill is going to be a lot lower than normal. Most of us here do not own Air conditioners and most of the time it is not of interest anyways. We do own a fan but have not really needed to use that yet so our Utility bill is able to stay down right now which is nice. I wish the weather we have been having here would be the weather all yr. round actually.

Unless the temperature has really gotten high to cause too much heat there is no need for us to turn the aircon actually because the trees and plants around our home make my place really cool and comfortable enough even during night even without aircon. So my electric bill is less than 50 dollars on a normal weather, but when summer is at its peak, it rises up to considerably.

Same here, the electricity bill is very expensive in my area now. So, we usually only switched on the air-cond only when the temperature is really very hot. Usually, we only switched on for 2 - 4 hours before we finally switch it off. Then we will switch on the ceiling fan. At least, we don't spend too much money into paying the electricity bill.

Friend In my house no A/C but cooler is here. I think full day cooler or A/c is not necessary two to 3 hours then full room is cool. Now my electricity bill is no more so i am not facing this problem. You should fallow this your A/c should close. Actual I am not understand what you want to say.

Oh my gosh. That is outragious. It has been very hot here also and last month my bill was $300.00. I know it is going to be that high this month too if not higher.

We have a large house and our bill for the month of June is $351. It is horrible. We did have roommates but due to them not helping with the bills we kicked them out. Some of the electric bill is from them being here. We have closed off all of the vents to the rooms not being used and we keep the curtains closed all day long and do not allow the heat/sunshine to get into the home. We also went around making sure all doors/windows were properly closed and even added some caulking to some areas. I hope that next month's bill is cheaper.

Wow, the numbers you mentioned are much greater than ours here. Maybe it's because we don't have A/C-s at home, because our summers aren't that hot and we get relief from just opening the windows and ventilating the rooms. I must also mention that I live in a rural area, so there is always fresh air and no problems with exhaust fumes and stuff. The highest costs we pay come in winter and these are not electricity bills - winters are cold and we must pay huge sums for central heating, it makes around 100$ a month (heating only).

I know how you feel, except it's opposite for us. Our electric bill lowers as the summer comes, thankfully. Even with the AC running we only paid about $70 this month and I was so excited about it. It's the Winter that really kills us. All winter our electric bills stayed around $300 - $400 to heat this house and that's just to keep it at 68 in here. It's completely ridiculous and it's so hard finding that extra $300 a month for half the year just to afford to keep this place a decent temperature!

Yes it is, electric bill here in the Philippines is one house bill that eating most of our paycheck. Every month the electric company just add something in the bill to be paid by all consumer and the sad thing is we can't make any protest as there's only one provider. All we have to do is to sigh every time we see the bill!

mine has been right around 120, but my next one is going to be more. We have had to run the A/C more this month do mostly to the humidity. I have spent time at the library and turned my a/c up to 80, which still has felt good compared to the outside temps.

In Baltimore, BG&E is famous for raising everyone's electric bill. In some states, if people don't make their payment on time, the power company comes around cut off their power. But, if you're an illegal immigrant you get free power. It's a terrible system. I remember back in 2006 when my mom's friend said that he heard on the news that BG&E was going to charge 50% more on power. Now, look at everyone. They're paying as much as $600 on a power bill.
