A friend of mine the first month she got her thumbs on her new cell phone she sent 5,000 text messages. Purchased at 10 cents a message it would have cost $500, but she added unlimited text messaging to her cell phone plan, so she pays $7.00 a month. I have friends who have $200, $300 bills with text messaging.
Is unlimited text messaging saving money?
I see people using their cell phones for sending text messages more than they do talking on the phone. Some text messages are mainly sent to friends. So if you think that 10 cents a message won't add up to much, think again. It could cost you $200 or more a month. Which amounts to 40 text messages a day!
According to the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association in 2005, wireless users sent over 7 billion text messages. It has become part of our daily lives. Apparently most people use their cell phone simply for the feature of making phone calls, while others use the newer features, such as downloads, photos and text messaging. It's all about immediate gratification.
