The platforms I used more often to blog where wordpress, blogger and livejournal. But recently I stumbled upon a new platform that was designed for the creative types, writers and artists. So it sounded like something I would love. And even though I usually don't take well to change I kinda like it here. Anyone else on mylot uses Dreamwidth?

I'd never heard of it, so I went and had a look.
It looks like all the other blogging platforms. There's nothing particularly creative or artistic about it - in fact, most of the ones I looked at were downright ugly!
Still, a neat marketing idea to target the "creative" community. I don't much like the instant pay-to-get-set-up idea, especially with a lot of free hosts out there who do this stuff better (WP and Blogger, for instance).
Hope it catches on for them but I'll stick to the established apps, I think. They offer a lot more at no charge.

Yes, I have an account on Dreamwidth.
I joined LiveJournal way back when it was like Dreamwidth--a small journal and community site that you had to get an invite to or pay for to create your own account. I stopped spending so much time on LiveJournal when they opened registration to everyone and the trolls and spammers started really showing up. My aunt switched to Dreamwidth because some of her friends did, and as soon as I found out I asked her to invite me. It's really a lot like LJ was back in the day... and it's based on the LiveJournal platform, which I really like.
The only complaint I really have is that Dreamwidth doesn't take PayPal. I would like to get a paid account so I can customize my theme, but it's almost more hassle than it's worth. I don't blame them for that... they had a very big issue with PayPal wanting them to censor their users or something, and they refused to do it so PayPal said they couldn't use it to receive payments.
Do you already have a DW account? If you don't, send me a message. I have tons of unused invites that I probably won't use otherwise! (And that offer's open to anyone who wants one. If you're not my friend already, add me and send me a PM!)
