Im a stay at home Mom of two kids. My daughter is 8 and my son is 5. My husband is in the Navy and goes out to sea a lot. I plan on homeschooling my kids in the fall. I keep myself busy, but really have the urge to get a part-time job. I think its for my sanity. I want to pay things off and get out of the house and interact with adults. Im thinking of working in a photo studio since in the past i have worked there and I love doing photography. I would love to do photography on my own, but need some more equipment. I know it might be hard to juggle it all, but Im hoping it works out. I figure I can work evenings and weekends and know a couple ppl who could watch my kids and not take my whole paycheck. Heres to hoping it works out.

I think that getting a part time job is a good idea! We all need something to keep us busy and more importantly to keep our minds stimulated. A job is the best thing as well because it has the added benefit of some financial gain as well, and you also get to interact with other people every day and hopefully create new friendships and connections that could get you further in life or your career in the future! I think you will be able to juggle working with having kids, if you are smart about it as you appear to be and have good plans in place. Hope it works out for you!

Thank you. I also agree it can be done. Just takes some juggling. I would love to do photography more. I have done it for awhile on my own, but not really business. I might start advetising myself as well. Having a part-time job will help to bring a little extra money as well as friendships and some sanity.

Good luck. I know that being with kids 24/7 is a chore and it can make you lose your sanity. Just be sure you have good babysitters and that you still spend quality time with them. We all need that extra money these days.

That's a great idea of yours. But what about starting a part-time business instead of looking for a part-time job? In part-time job, you have to work harder. It will require more physical work on your part, but with part-time business, you can create or you can have a system to work on your behalf. What do you think?

Its funny pretty much everyone has said this and I come to mylot for ppls thoughts since I think its a way of getting my questions answered by God. I have struggled with this should I go back to a company I have worked for before or just do it and put myself out there as the photgrpaher I am? I have plenty of experience and even though i dont have a studio there are plenty of places to do photogrpahy shoots. I know this is conflicting to some ppl I know. I have a cpl friends who just opened their own so its really have to do your best to bring the customers in, but i would love being able to do this on my own and not worry about a scheudale.

I miss my part time job outside the house for all the reasons you mentioned, but I have been ill so doing odd jobs on my computer is now my job. I stay home with my son who will be nine on the 22nd. I know what you mean about the need for extra money. It seems like there is never enough to go around. Now I am doing things like writing articles on triond and doing tasks at mturk and microworkers while I wait for Social Security to approve me. I have been denied twice already but have been ill with a virus that started in my chest and then moved into my ears. Lately they think it moved into my back and neck and I have been having tests done. As I write this, I am on percocet for two days then will go back to the regimen of tylenol with codeine and flexeril. Some of these medicines put my mind in a fog but if I don't take them, I hurt all the time so I do what I have to do.

Hopefully your situation is figured out and you feel better. I do Mylot, but would love a cpl other online things. Ill have to look into what you do. A part-time job will be beneficial. Also possibly doing photogrpahy on my own. I know if I work for this company it isnt allowed to do photography on the side outside the company. They look at it as taking their customers away. I look at it as practice and doing pictures for ppl who want something different than the inside of a studio. We will see how it all works out.

i want to suggest you to do the freelance photographer. Dont just work at studio only. This is because you can get more when you work outdoor. What do you think ?

I can make more doing it on my own Im sure. Im also able to be more free in what I do. I love doing photo shoots outside since natural lighting is best. Maybe I should put myself out there more. I have plenty of experience and plenty of happy customers.

I would love to do more photography. I have done plenty of pictures of friends for maternity and newborn -child portraits. I have also done family portraits. I want to give my customers the best. I feel I need some more quipment, even though I see plenty of ppl doing this with nothing more than their camera. I should put myself out there more as well and might just do that. I have already stated some research in it and talking to a friend who just opened her own business.

That sounds like a very good plan. I can sense that you are very thorough in business planning. I am sure your photography business will be successful with many customers coming. It is however important that the studio at a right location for getting many customers, may be some place in the downtown business core. Good luck to you !

The studio I would be working at is a company I have worked for before. I cant open my own studio at this time. I could only do freelance like some one mentioned where I can go to their house and set a couple things up or meet for an outside shoot. I can have ppl come to my house as well with a park right up the road and for infants I can set a little something up.
