Ever Had To Deal With This?

Some of the customers we have at my job seem to think they are our only customers we have to worry about. One person called and asked if we could deliver to him because he needs hot water before we deliver to an elderly woman who is on oxygen and of course I told him we cannot do that. Why on God's green earth should we when she called in first? I really want to tell these people you are not the only important customer we have here...
Have you dealt with customers who have absolutely NO patience? Why do they believe their the only ones that matter?

Yes. ME!! LOL...we all want what we want when we want it. I admit its not the most considerate behavior, but it's true. I have learned to pipe down a bit and accept that its not all about me. I do my best to plan ahead by getting to places super early so I can be first, or start calling thirty minutes before a place opens and is really busy. In the end though, I like to have my stuff done and out of the way. I think I could take a back seat to an elderly woman on oxygen though.

Oh geez, LOL. Sorry, wasn't trying to put you down. It depends who calls first here and that poor woman was old and she needs hot water more than he did. Honestly she does. You know? Let the poor woman have hers and then we will deliver to you. He actually said well she can't wait? I thought to myself what nerve!

No put down sweetie. Just my weird sense of humor, lol. It's all love in this house! I understand completely what you are saying. I agree the old woman should have had hers first.

Given various scenarios, customers often lie, cheat and steal. Are these customers always right? Customers are rude, nasty and thoughtless...are these customers always right?
That saying "the customer is always right" gives the customer too much power. Some people think it gives them the power to take away someone's job...their very living, the support for their family. Is this customer right?

Not all customers are right. There's no need to take it so literal...

I've had experiences like that working in the nursing homes. A supervisor actually came up to me once and gave the order that I was to take care of a specific resident before all the others. It was something her family had insisted on. There was no reason this woman needed care before everyone else. I had heard several rumors that the family was very wealthy. I don't know if that was the cause of their thinking but I refuse to follow through on such orders and never will.

Ooh I hate that. That is so wrong. No one especially there should be more important than another one. They all need attention. That is sad. Of course money will do things like that to people. Money is evil.

Quite a few times. Anyone who has dealt with the public trips over them all the time..Unlike the average folk I figure they never outgrew the terrible 2's and expect everyone to deal with their emotional diapers, drop everything and be their personal n****r. Folks like that are immature and insecure about their own personal value and demand that folks validate them because they're inept at validating themselves. They don't seem to understand that there's a grand sight difference between 'service' and 'servitude'...Enjoy!

That is funny Your right they must not have outgrown the terrible 2's! They are immature and they need to get over it. We work with everyone whoever comes first gets served first. That is the way it goes.

Some people could really be arrogant and inconsiderate. Just because they know that it is said that "customer is always right", they take it so literally. So, on the part of the sales clerk, patience here is very much needed and so is courtesy.
You just have to politely tell them that it couldn't be outright because of this and that . Sometimes, its the way we say things that gets those customers annoyed.
So , just be courteous and gentle only to them .

They do take it VERY literal and it drives me crazy! Not every customer is right. Ugh. I do have a lot of patience with them, I just get all of this out on here so I can be patient with them.
I am polite, all of my customers like me and I have never had a complaint about my attitude or anything. Like I said, that's why I take my frustrations out on here to all of you!

Yes, I have definitely been in a situation where I have had to deal with people who seem to think that they are far more important or something than every other person in the room. I always try and be polite but firm with these kind of people, and explain to them that I am helping as best I can but we have to help people in the order which they arrived in, and they are just going to have to wait their turn. If people are truly rude and impatient and choose to leave then I feel like its good riddance - I don't need their business if they are going to act that way!

Yeah it drives me crazy! No one is more important than anyone else. The sooner people realize that the better off they will be. I am always polite and probably too polite most of the time. Exactly, no one wants anyone's business when they act like that!

Many are self centered these days. No one has time for anyone else. It is so sad.

It is very sad. I cannot stand it. I am a patient person when it comes to most things so it really drives me crazy dealing with people who are not.

Yes, I have had several jobs dealing with customer service on several different levels and I have had some rather pushy people to deal with. You just have to go with what you know is right and get the job done. I have also dealt with people from all walks of life as well, old, young, rich, poor, sane, not so sane, etc... the one's who really piss me off are the rich old people who think that they are better than everyone else. They feel that they have entitlement above everyone else. Good luck with your job.

Yeah I have dealt with it all too. It gets awful in here sometimes. Everyone thinks they deserve to be served before anyone else. Here at my job it goes by who calls in first and orders propane first. People do not understand this concept apparently.

I once worked in a retail store where the customers were very aggressive. They also wanted the things that they wanted when they wanted it. I would be talking with a customer when another one would be tugging on my shirt. They all wanted to convey their own importance, and thus be served first.
I only lasted 3 months on that job. I realized I didn't have any patience for it!

some clients are really stupid.. they act rude only. i know this bcs one day a guy was really rude with me. i was working in a supermarket cutting ham and cheese and those kind of things.. we always had to use gloves on our hands but to touch in ham we always had to use a tool to catch it and put it in a bag. well i just touched in
the ham with my gloves what wasnt a bad thing bcs our hands were always clean bcs we were always changing our gloves but he said he didnt want the ham anymore bcs didnt know where i put my hands. well i was so chocked that i even started to cry and had to ask my workmate to cut the ham for him. she did that for me what i appreciated a lot from her^^ but you see how rude he was? some clients are really stupid!

I have met plenty of the rude ones. And it sounds like you have too. That is ridiculous that the man didn't want it after that. How silly. If you had gloves on I don't see the problem with it at all. It didn't matter where your hands were because they were covered with gloves! Some customers I swear they are hard to deal with...

Well, as customers, most are thinking of this "Customer is always right". Since the business depends on the customers, customers all want them to be priority. Nobody can blame them or us from that. We are all customers and I'm sure at some point we have all been a little rude or want something and want it as soon as we demand it.
Of course, sometimes it depends on how much the person needs it. But if it is a small thing, I am sure it would be nice if the customers learn to be appreciative of others and take into consideration those who are more in need of something.

Well, you cannot all be taken care of first. Yes customer is usually right but here it goes by who calls in first as to who gets their propane first. And for that one customer to say can't she wait about a lady on oxygen is just selfish and ridiculous.
She definitely was more in need than he was. He just didn't care, in his little bubble it was all about HIM.

Some people have big ego:s want it now or if it was possible before they even said they needed it. Make it clear that each customer will have their things after one another. Unless it is fire and emergency then you have to make a high priority.

Yeah some people do have big ego's like they are the only important ones to us here. Not. We are a propane, mulch and stone company.
