Do You Use The Ratings Button Everytime You Respond Back To A Discussion?

I have often wondered if everyone here, especially the New people are aware of this feature, and it's importance or if you just go around responding back in a discussion never considering to do this as well? I know there have been times I have forgotten to do this and will end up responding back in a discussion twice.
So now each and every time that I open up a discussion, especially if I am going to respond back to it, whether you are on my friends list or not, I will rate it. Then the next time I ever open up this discussion unless it is to respond back to something after someone responds back to it again, this will tell me I have already responded there and so I can then move on to the next discussion that I am wanting to respond back too as well.
This is a really good way for me to keep track, and wonder how many others have done this as well, or now that you have read this you will keep this in mind from now on as well.

hi tina yes again I do as its becoming second nature to just rate as i read and respond or comment. so I wish everyone even newbies would also do that as I would like to get my blue star back as I had one once, now it the time for a new blue star. lol no really we all should rate as thats how we all get our reputations.yes it helps us to to know where we already have been too.

I think the problem is especially with the Newer people coming in here, is that they do not know the importance of the Rating buttons, and so a lot of people never consider doing it. Or they take offense to something you might say once here, and decide to go rate you negative. It would be nice if people would use it more effectively for sure.

Well, even as a New person here, if they are going to stay active here, it is quite important to continue to Rate theirs as well as they help learn of the importance to rate others to be able to help them so when they reach 100 they will know what others think of them and their responses here as well.

Hello MATT69AC,
As per rules till you reach 100 number of posts your ratings are not considered. So you have 5 left just pass 100 and let your ratings be counted. But still its a good habit of rating others keep continuing it.
After reaching 100 you reputation will be displayed against your name.

I've been a member here since before the Ratings system, etc. so it was something that came on here in time. Just wanted to help the Newbies here be aware of great ways to keep track of discussions that they might have already responded back too, and also a reason why to want to respond back.

I pretty well rate every time it comes up. When I respond or even come back to respond I will rate others' responses. I am not sure what it has to do with but I rate everyone good. I don't think I've ever done anything but rate it good.

Getting a reponse removed, but not the discussion is something one of the hardest things you can do sometimes, but well worth it. I know that there are times I have too just to protect myself.

Well, I can honestly say from time to time I have had to rate people as Bad, and have had to report someone. If they are being down right nasty and spiteful or just saying things on here that make no sense, or off topic it is best to report them. Even with discussions that others have started here as well, when it is against the TOS or spiteful report it without responding and save some people some heartache.

I agree but I think I've only maybe rated one person's response as bad maybe. I am pretty selective in the discussions I enter a response to. If it is obviously in violation of TOS I just don't even answer it. I figure it's a waste of time. I do however get a response deleted now and then!!

I rate every discussoion I read. Even if I just read it and don't respond, I still rate it. I haven't given any negative ratings yet. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions even if I don't agree. I never have a problem telling if I have responded or not. I get notifications in my email and after I read or respond, I delete them.

Yes, that is a good way to keep track of what you respond back too if that is your main way to keep track. Like you if I ever rate negative it is because the person is RUDE or just plain off the wall. But if they are too bad I also report them as well.

Ratings are crucial to myLot society. You can't be active on here for long without taking notice of those little plus and minus buttons.
The practice of rating does not slip my mind - rather I do not employ it on every response and discussion for another reason. For many questions and responses I feel neutral. The responses and questions are not particularity bad or particularly special, so therefore wouldn't it be wrong to rate them either? If I honestly feel neutral about something, how can I justly rating it one extreme or another? I don't want to harm the person's rating and at the same time I don't want to raise their rating for average effort.
However I do find myself giving out pluses on most discussions - mine or not. People on here are prone to do quality and it is not hard to find the jewel of discussion. In that case I think why not reward the person who has done the most research or has the most thorough response?
Bottom line: I don't rate everyone. I rate the responses and questions that catch my eye is extra effort or extra special. :)

Well that is true. There are many times that I do not rate everyone as well. If it is a discussion that someone has started, even a friend of mine on here has started and I am not interested in responding back to it, or cannot relate with, why should I rate it? Now if it is something I know nothing about but it has been wrote good I will rate it just to help them, but never just to rate and hope I am helping them.

That really is a great way to keep track of discussions you've responded too. I never looked at it that way... To your question, Yes I rate discussions and people's responses I really like, I do skip over some, which maybe a little off track..I try not to mark negatively, only if it is totally uncalled for... It would be nice to know how many do actually rate others... I even rate in discussions I don't leave an answer too as well, if it has had useful information.

Yes, I have wondered how many people never rate discussions as well. I can understand with some of the Newbies coming in here who do not know the importance of doing so, but it would be interesting to know. Also like I said it helps keep track of whether you have looked at that discussion and replied as well. Sometimes I wish there was not a negative button just the "!" button to keep others from being so complaintive or take revenge.

Yes, there are some out there including ones that some of my friends have started that I can just not relate with, and could never consider rating. And then some that are just like not good, but not bad either.

yes I do. It's really just rating it but now that you mentioned it
I guess it is also a good way to remind me whether I already responded to it or not

Yes, that is one of the things that helps me to be able to keep track especially when I get so busy and cannot be here as much as I would like. And since I tend to always want to keep up with people on my friends list here the most remember to rate is a Big thing for sure.

I have been using that button for years now! Yes, I sure do! I rate every main response I get. It is just a step I have gotten used to doing. I don't, however, always rate the people who chime in with their remarks depending on the situation. I wish everyone could do it the same way and not each member have a different slant on how they do it or feel it should be done.

That is for sure. If more people would Rate each other, especially when you have something positive to say more people would not get so frustrated with being here. I always try to remember to Rate someone because in turn I hope that means that they will want to Rate me.

The only time I do not rate if it is a discussion that really does not make sense, or something someone posted back in one of my discussions that makes no sense.

I am the habit of rating everyone. I live by the Golden Rule and if I want something I would give it to the other person as well. And one good turn deserves another. Why would someone not rate a person? The only time I haven't rated someone was when I felt their response was idiotic and unrefined.

No not every time. I think for me it depends on how the discussion strikes me. I have really not taken advantage of this system at all. Perhaps I should take more time and do that.

The ratings button is very Good for a lot of things. It helps to make others aware of how good they are here as a poster, and it helps to keep track of discussions that you have already responded back too. There are discussions I have opened I never rate either, but then these are ones I do not relate with so I never respond back to them either.

So you never Rate when you respond back to someone else, or you never Rate the people who respond back in your discussions?

Giving ratings is a huge part of mylot. I think it helps us maintain the quality of discussions and also I think that helps the mylot admin to be notified of discussions that are prohibited by the guidelines.
However, honestly, I really don't use this tool that much. It is because sometimes I am so in a hurry that I forget to do this. I have decided though that it would be better if I do this now since it is part of the mylot community. Also, since I enjoy the discussion, there's nothing wrong with giving it a positive rating.

Yes, actually this is part of the reason I think that I might have started this discussion to help some of the Newer people in knowing some of the things that are important here for earnings, and ratings number as well. It helps shed some light on who some of the better writers are in here that people like and tend to follow more as well.

Personally it is a Great way to show others that you respect what they have to say. There are many times even if I do not always agree with everything that someone has to say, or do not always understand with everyone being from all over the World it gives us a time to help get to know others more as well.

Well, I find this very important even though there are times I am sure that I forget or get too busy. But it helps me keep track what discussions I have responded back too and makes me feel better because I know am helping encourage someone else as well.

Like you, I also forget once in a while.
But I always use these buttons on my own discussions. I rate the responses that I get. This helps me track who put in really good ideas. This is very helpful when it is time for me to award the best responses. It saves time specially for the discussions that I got many responses.

Yes I am aware of the rating button in each and ever box with a response and or comment. I never forget to use it and always try to do my best to always remember. Every discussion I am, friend or not that I am in, I look for the signs of rating and do my best as well.

Yes, I feel it is very important to use this. Even if they are not a friend now in the future they could be, and rating people also helps encourage them to want to continue here, and encourages them in what direction they want to move.

hello tina,
I have the habit of rating people here on MYLOT.Sometimes it happens i open up a discussion & have nothing to write then also i rate people responses and i think people should use it.For me also this is good way of tracking it if you have previously responded to the discussion because if you have rated it just opening it on second time you will see it and easily know that you have already replied it.

Yes, that is how I feel and have done here myself. Since there are so many New discussions being started here all the time, and from my friends included, not every time do I recognize a discussion I might have already responded back too. So when you remember to rate you end up doing yourself a Big favor for sure.
