Intense fears.

The other day on the fourth of July, kids were playing with illegal fireworks around my neighborhood. They were so huge that they shook the house and made me jump really high each time they set it off. Eventually, I started to anticipate it, wondering when the next one will come and so I became obsessed with the fear. I had to keep head phones on to calm myself. Another time, there was a big spider in the room. I lost track of it that I could not get myself to fall asleep that night. Do you get irrational, intense, obsessive fears? For what types of things? How do you handle it?

We had just the opposite. I have an irrational fear of spiders too. It usually just goes away when I find the demon thing and my daughter or my granddaughter kill it. One came up the drain the other day and even though my daughter got rid of it my grandson had be coaxed to bathe that night.

I respect them for getting rid of other bugs but that is about it.

All the time. And I noticed that it got worse as I got older. Lots of thing now irritate me when they never did before. I get that whole bug thing. I had a water bug about 2 years ago that seemed to taunt me. I stayed up until 3 in the morning until I killed him. He was a bug one. And he flew. If things like that happen, I can not rest until I conquer it.

For me Yes it is scared but if you are not getting of nervous it is good to deal with that time.

I do fear spiders and insects of any kind. Though firework sounds irritate me, I don't fear them. I don't on the other hand participate in firing them off. As they are a bit dangerous and have heard of some injuring themselves while happily firing them off.
As for fears, I try to remain as calm as I can and keep my mind busy so that I do not continually think about the fear. For some it can take time, while there are some people who cannot completely get rid of fear, who may need some help with this.

I've yet to find a way to really conquer my fears, but I have found a way to distract myself from them. If I start to feel that cool sweat of fear that makes you feel chilled to the bone & your heart start to race, well that's when I try to do something to distract myself from my fear. I will read a book, or if that doesn't work I will watch a comedy. Whether it's a movie or a TV show it doesn't matter. A good comedy is the best distraction for me whenever I experience intense fear.

when I was a child , I had a phobia of dogs , I couldn't suffer their barkings and threats. when I was 12 years old , we started to raise a puppy that was so cute and as he grew up , I started to understand the dogs habbits and even like dogs.
at the age of 14 , I also had a fear of cockroaches , one of them climbed on my head when I was half asleep , and I didn't find it. during the next 2 weeks I didn't sleep in my room. those are just ugly.
maybe one can handle it's fear by thinking about them as tiny robots ?
I think one can handle it's fears by dealing with the problem itself , trying to understand the cockroaches world , or the dog's world. we are all parts of the same world after all.
