Hi Mylotters!
I have posted this topic few days ago but I would like to revise the way I wrote the thread, about inducing sleep.
The hardest part for me in working night shift is getting sleep immediately after work time. I still wanna wind down, do chores just to get sleepy. While my colleagues said, they can usually fall immediately when they get home. I feel like I still have the energy to stay awake. What is your remedy to fall sleep fast? I want to take sleeping pills but I am afraid that eventually I will get used to it.
What do you think??

Our sleeping pattern is actually affected by light. At night we are sleepy because there's lack of light. During daylight we're awake because there's a large amount of sunlight. This pattern is known as circadian rhythm.
If you are a night worker who has a hard time to sleep during daytime you might try the light therapy. This involves using a bright light during nighttime and then in the morning when you go home you wear those amber colored glasses that block ultraviolet/blue light. This is the light component that affect circadian rhythm.
Hopefully this light therapy will "fool" your body's sense of day and night so you will be able to sleep during daytime. It is not recommended to use sleeping pills for this condition because they can cause dependency.

I hope I can do that, thanks for your suggestions superdude!
I will try hanging dark curtains when I sleep in the morning, i hope it will work for me. Yes, I know a hormone in our body called melatonin is an aid to sleeping, too. Our body secretes this type of hormone when a person is places in a dark place, yah I remember now. I should try this next time. Thanks a lot! Happy Mylotting!

I simply have no tricks I can share with you coz I myself have the same problem. I can hardly go to sleep and am usually asleep only when dawn breaks and becaue of which my classes are being missed
Anyway I have heard a warm bath and a glass of warm milk will make you drowsy in no time. Do try them and I hope it helps

Have you tried eating a ripe banana and drink warm/lukewarm milk?
It's a good downer than taking sleeping pills.
Most call center agents who works graveyard know this kind of downer instead of taking sleeping pills that might hurt your health.
You can just try it,instead of taking meal,or eating foods, eat ripe banana, maybe 2 pieces regular size and a glass of milk.
I hope this works for you...it works with me and most people in the call center.

Thank you for the suggestion, I haven't done this banana thing. But I would like to try it.
I understand the milk has more tryptophan to induce sleep and banana has potassium to relax the heart. Maybe it does work! Okey, i will try that! Thanks jaiho!
