Most of you that stalk me, I mean follow my discussions will remember me saying I hadn't called my dad in a long time. Well I finally did, and I left a message. I apologized for not calling sooner, and now am waiting for him to call back. If he doesn't call back after a few months I'll take it as we're just not talking again. I won't try to call him again if he can't call me back. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt of being busy, or his phone being broke, but he actually works so if it's the phone he can get that fixed atleast within the next month.
In any case, I didn't ask him for anything in the message.
Have you called a family member you haven't spoken to for awhile lately?

Hey Cowgirl. I know I cannot imagine the slightest of tension in your relationships, so, I don't have the right to advise you anything. I just want to put my point of view.
It is a good thing that you made the move. This shows that you have the strength to apologize and the confidence to take decisions on your part. But, one thing is for sure, relationships are two sided, but they are rarely balanced. I mean one cannot expect the other person to have the same attitude as himself/herself. It is the desire to keep a relationship alive that fuels a relationship. In simple words, giving up on a relationship is a sign of weakness as it is giving up on a tough job. One has to keep trying at right time and with right strategy, even if the response from the other side is not very enthusiastic or no response at all.
This is something that I learned from my parents. I have seen the "not so good" relationships between my father and my uncle right from my birth...and...even after 21 years, I see my father trying to keep it alive. The reason is, those we call our "friends in need" are actually our family.
But again, as I said I have no idea what you are going through, and as you are an adult, it is you who has to take the final decision, according to the situation.

My father and I have never been close, and so it's not really any skin off my shins if he chooses not to ever talk to me. I know that sounds awful but I have all the family I need in who are my family now.
In fact, my best friends are my real family, they're the ones that are their for me.

Hmmmm, maybe you are right. I mean, only time can tell.
But, I do wish you a good future, and hope that your father calls you back.

can sometimes happen not to mention some of our relatives.
But there are such cases.
I can give you a recent example I did not speak to my mother in law.
I do not even know why blame.
But there are things we should try not to pay much attention to them and be true to yourself.
nice day!

Yes, sometimes it's necessary to put yourself before your relatives. That's how I feel about things atleast. It's hard to accept sometimes but that's the way it has to be.

the last time i had a talk with my dad was about two months ago, i guess to. i already missed him and he's the only one left after mom left us about 5 years ago. my baby sister recently called me about something regarding her phone. she's my frequent chatter over the phone.

I haven't spoken to my parents in a while. I know that it doesn't compare to your situation as I've not called my mom and dad in a few months only, but I use to call them every weekend.
Maybe it's time for me to call.
As far as your dad is concerned. I think that it's his turn. You already did your part. But, I'm crossing my fingers that he calls so you can patch things up.

My sister and I are on again off again. Sometimes we go months without talking and then one of us will just call the other. It's not the closest relationship in the world but it's ours and we both accept it.

My sister and I are the same way except for the calling each other part as we don't do that. She drops my nephew off here on Friday night's and I'll say Hey but that's about it. We're just two antisocial people. We used to hate each other, but it was just sibiling rivalry.

I don't blame you. I would give him some time to return your call also but I would only wait so long too. If he wants to talk to you, he should reply as soon as possible.

I have no family but my daughter and my two grandkids. So that doesn't really pertain to me. I would wonder if he got your message for the reasons you put down here. If there is a history then I would probably just get on with my life. You can only do so much. From there it is his ball game.
