Hello Friends :)
I was driving car in the morning. And got trap in traffic. And it took quite more time to reach me on destination. After reaching on destination I saw that there was no parking at all for 4 wheelers. So I had to park my car far away from the place.
Now I was thinking that, Bikes or any other 2 wheeler can pass that traffic more easier in compare of 4 wheeler. And also Parking is surely not the big deal for two wheelers.
That's why I prefer my bikes to move in the city part.
Of course Cars have many other benefits.. Like, Long distance driving(like, moving towards another city or other) Car or other traveling option are more preferable. And also people who are more with shopping, car is more easier to carry the things.
But still I like to move on bike more. Specially in city area. What you think about this ??

Hello Akp,
For me bike and car have their own benefits. As the place where i live in Delhi is crowded one and its always better to use bike if you want to save your time. But car has its advantage over 2 wheelers like in rainy days, hot days, long drives its always better to prefer car.
But these days petrol rates have so much increased that now most of the people try to use 2 wheelers over car as the former consumes lesser petrol or has better millage.I use both bike & car but it depends on the conditions.

Yeah.. Both having their own advantages and disadvantages as well. Even i used both but mostly choose bike when i used to go alone or with friends...
But surely in city like Delhi two wheelers are more preferable. I don't know much but I got passed from city once by car during a trip and it cost me lots of time.

I was aware with the traffic problem in delhi.. But that's too bad that mostly people are not following the rules.. They should follow it.
May be your friend got worried because of traffic. How about you.. Are you comfortable in driving with such heavy traffic their?

Yes in Delhi traffic jams are more often, too much RED lights and above all some people don't follow traffic rules here.
I remember one of my school friend who shifted to US after studying B.Tech & when returned back to attend his sister's marriage after 4~5 years refused to drive a four wheeler in DELHI as he said he is afraid of people here as they don't have driving sense.

Bikes and cars have their own advantages and disadvantages. Cars can't go through some thin streets while bikes can. Bikes are not allowed on some areas where cars can. I guess you gotta have both if you wanna enjoy both worlds.

I was thinking of getting a bike even though I am rather scared of them - I did fall off one when the gears got locked and after that I did not want to ride another. I was thinking of a coaster bike since we do not have high hills here. The other thing is that I am around 190 lb and am afraid of the bike might fall down and get crushed, I am rather clumsy and afraid of losing my balance, but most of all, we do not have bicycle paths here. There is a lane that is for bikes besides the car lanes (it is in the bus lane) so most of the bike riders here use the sidewalk and that means the pedestrians have to get out the way.

Even i know one who gets scared from two wheelers after falling down in past. But just recently I was able to convince her to sit behind me on my bike. Now slowly she also started driving her two wheelers. So I hope you will able to ride well too.

I have been looking at bikes, but right now cannot afford one - walk most everywhere. The trouble is that we have well concrete roads here, not asphalt, so if I fall, well even with my strong bones, I am liable to chip something. I do wish they would have real bicycle paths here. It would make me less nervous.

It took me many years to learn to drive. For 14 years I lived in a village and did much cycling. I stayed very fit and healthy. I traveled by bike to my nearest train station. Then go two different trains to work when I taught on the coast. When I taught in the village I had 12 miles of cycling with lots of hills. I had to carry heavy books with me. It was lovely in dry weather but miserable when it rained. I suffered when I got a puncture. One time at a red traffic light a car backed into my bike and that experience had been very scary.
I didn't pass my practical driving test until last year. I need to drive because my disabled son is in a wheelchair. Many buses are not wheelchair accessible. I like driving to a supermarket because I can't cycle these days. I also have a two year old daughter. A car costs much to run and a bike is very cheap indeed. A bike is great for short journeys.

Hi anand,
If you are traveling through a heavy traffic road then bike will be easier for you to reach the destination quickly. Car will take more time in traffic blocks. But I know bike journey is not so pleasant if the weather is not suitable, I think rider may be safe with the help of helmet, but the back-seater always suffer.(lol) under the hot sun. If there is rain then also bike is not advisable. Last week we were in bike and due to train we stopped the bike travel then continue our journey in metro train. So I think both mode of transport have its own advantages and disadvantages.

Hi Sree
Bikes are surely not suitable for long journeys.. I only use it in city ares. For long journey I always prefer my car or other(bus service). Bikes are always suitable in city area. But surely both having its own advantages and disadvantages..
About metro trains its not available here yet. But it can be their in future.
And yeah helmets are important. But I guess they are more uncomfortable while driving in traffic areas. I guess people are making more mistakes here due this new rule of helmet.

hi akp, for all of your reason finally I'll still prefer car
sometime bike is getting hard too to get park space and we turn around we'll feel better safe in car than bike.and also when we had the crowded situation on road, especially in noon -you can feel the sun almost above you, car also make you safe and still thanks for the comfort situation.you can get it with bike

I am going to be getting myself a bike soon, hopefully putting it on layaway after I get the mylot payment. I need a bike so that I can get from point a to point b and apply to places. The first thing is it will be healthier, it may be a bit more dangerous but I plan to take precautions when it comes to that, wearing reflective tape, getting all the accessories I will need, in colder months before the snow wearing the reflective jackets they have for such months. I live in a suburb, it can get busy here, but plan to move back to the country.
In the country I will also be able to bike, and a lot easier. There won't be as much traffic, and I can go as fast as I need to provided I can steer through the curves efficiently.
Eventually I'll be buying a moped, which I believe is also better then a car. A car, as you said, you must stay in traffic with and that can turn into not being so very fun!

A bike is god for short commutes where is it makes more sense to ride a bike as opposed to a car. Around here, there are a lot of people who rides bikes. I guess since there are so many people riding bikes that car traffic is respecting it more. The streets around here are not designed for bike travel, and even if they are, there are too many maniac drivers around here so there is still risk. It is also nice that some of the buses have bike racks so you don't even have to ride the bike that far. However, it is nice to have a car if you have to travel with a lot of bags and packages. Thanks to how spread out this area is, you still need a car. I wouldn't get rid of it, if I owned one. Myself, I no longer have a car, but a bike did help out for those times of waiting for the bus. I really could use a car because it is hard to shop with a bike on you. To shop, I would have to carry the bags in my hand and walk with the bike on my shoulder. Although I like riding a bike, because this city is so spread out, I could really use a car.

Well, here in my City we have motorcycles, bikes are very rare here. But they are both somewhat the same, because they are both easy to park and slim, that makes it easy to drive when in traffic. I'd like to use them more than cars. Cars are just so hard to drive around, its very hard to find a parking space and it's very slow during traffic.

Weekday morning are usually the time when traffic jam situations are so severe that riding a bike would be an easier way to get to work especially if it's not that far from home. I don't use bike though. I usually walk. Anyways, bikes would be more practical but sometimes safety is quite an issue especially on a busy city where cars tend to be more reckless when things get stressed out during busy days. Cars truly have their own advantages but also have their own disadvantages. Maintenance are way more expensive than bikes but they are good when traveling a long way from home.

There are definitely some benefits to having a bike. I always see the bikes speed past me in a traffic jam, weaving in between the traffic, and I wish I was on a bike! Also as you say, parking is so so much easier to find for a bike. But personally, I am terrified of bikes - they are very dangerous! If you get into an accident on a bike, you have no protection like you have in cars. Also, cars allow you to drive with up to 5 people in the car, which means you can save money on petrol, etc. So I think I prefer my car!

Keep in mind that bikes are far more dangerous than cars to ride. I agree that with the current gas prices and traffic of today they are better but keep in mind that while a car will save your life most of the time during an accident, surviving a bike accident is much less likely.

the only way that bikes are better than cars is to avoid traffic, after that no way, bikes is for sunny day not rainy days, cars are for all day, bike are on reserve on winter cause its to cold to ride a bike, cars are active all seasons, bikes is only a secon option.

yes car are more good in many cases.. But bikes having its own benefits too. I mean in avoiding traffic and also in parking slots. I mean in city parking problem is too much. And because of that 4 wheeler parking is a big problem here. About two wheelers parking its easily available in compare of 4 wheelers. But surely car is good in its own way.

yes the cardiovascular opportunities of someone without neurological issues are astounding for the body. Cars are expensive to fuel. If you have a family, in some countries they use rickshaws.

It does sound like a nice idea. I guess it would have to depend on your situation and whether or not having a bike would be more beneficial. I think it would work with a bike if you don't have a long distance to travel and not a lot of stuff to carry around. But with a car you can travel much longer distances. A bike would be more environmentally friendly and it would be easy to lock it up anywhere. You have to be very careful riding the bike in traffic though.

yeah, I agree with that. i love biking too. i have a bike. I use it whenever and wherever I go. that is good for our health. in other hand, using car is poor. it is not cool at all. biking is better than getting car.

Well Bike is good economically, spatially, and also for your health. But when then I'd prefer a car because I am so conscious with my skin. I don't want to get burned by the sun. hehehe..

For city movement especially when there is a lot of traffic it makes more scence to have a bike rather than a four wheeler. Its is more convienent, you can cut through traffic rather than having to wait in a long traffic jam and also finding a place to park a bike is a lot easier as it fits in the smallest of places as possible.
On the other hand a four wheeler is more of a comfort vehicle where you can sit relax and drive easily rather than having to face the breeze on a moving bike. It is also very essential for a long distance drive and especially when yuo go to the grocerry market to buy food stuff as you can simply place the bags in the vehicle and drive back home.
So overall a bike can be a very convenient option when it comes to city driving but at the same time when it comes to safety the car is the better option and less risky. Many a times due to reckless driving bikers lose their lives or get injured for a fault not of theirs. So its very important than we wear a helmet when we ride the bike as you never know when danger can come from behing..Drive safely..

Very true! A bicycle is great for exercise and has little impact on the environment. As well as the reasons you stated above, a bike also does not need gas. Therefore, after the initial price of the bike, it is free! However, cars are good for long distance driving, but we should use bikes for short distances to get an economical, free, healthy form of transportation.
