ok, so i'll admit. i never liked harry potter. the only film i've seen is the deathly hallows part 1.. and the only reason i even watched it is because my partner has been dying to see the 2nd one which was coming out. shes never been to see them in the cinema, and she really wants to see the final one ever in the cinema.. so i said i'd take her.. but obviously i had to atleast watch part 1 to have some sort of an understanding considering i know who no1 is haha! .. i may have watched part of the first harry potter because i recognised some names lol! .. is everyone else obsessed with harry potter?

I was walking out near a movie theatre just around the corner from me last night, and the new Harry Potter movie was going to be having it's opening weekend starting at midnight, the very beginning of Friday. It was about 10pm, and there was already a lineup of people going around the block! Some people in the line even had even brought lawn chairs and picnic blankets and things like that, because they knew they'd be waiting for a long time.
I don't get it either... but I've heard that you just have to read the books to really see what makes them so great.

yeah i've heard that too about the books. but one of my favourite books is angela's ashes, and they made that into a film, and the film didn't do it justice.. and as fantastic as the twilight films are, with the exception to the last one that isn't out yet, the movies didn't do the books any justice. so as good as the books are, i still cannot fathom such hype about the films!

I went to see the Deathly Hallows Part 2 on the first session too. It only started at midnight, but my friend arrived in the movie theatre at 8PM and already had a line of people. The persons started to arrive to the movie theatre at 5PM to get the best place.

I want to say that I hate Harry Potter really bad just cause everyone else seems obsessed with it... but I don't hate it. I'm just not a fan. I've read all the books, seen all the movies (except for the one that just came out) but I'm just not into it. I don't like the franchise enough even to call myself a casual fan.
Which everyone thinks is weird cause I'm a fantasy freak, but I still don't like Harry Potter.

i think its over rated. i think if there wasn't so much hype etc it would just be a good read, and an excellent film.. but its made into such a big huge fantastic deal, that when you actually then watch it, its like.. ok, story lines similar to this have been done before, and i've seen special effects like that before.. it takes away from it slightly i think!

I don't really like the term overrated because I don't think any one person should dictate what the masses like. Sure, I may not be a Harry Potter fan and I don't think the series is all that, but I don't think it's right to say that the people who do think it's all that just don't know what good entertainment is. I know that I hate it when people call my favorite series' overrated, so I imagine that they do too.
I've read the books and seen the films and didn't like them. There are loads of people who did the same and loved them. It's just how the world works... not everybody is going to be thrilled with every book written and every movie released, and we really shouldn't act like there are universal laws that dictate what people should and shouldn't like. People who love Harry Potter are not deluded and people who hate it are not ill-informed.

no no, you seem to have misunderstood me. i am not saying harry potter ie, the story, the characters, the author, the books, etc are over-rated. i'm saying the films are over-rated on the basis, that if they had originally been films without all the hype of the books being turned into films, i doubt they would have reached the status they have. i mean, i adore the twilight books, people have told me the films are over-rated and entirely agree. I think if the films had been made, as a story, without books being involved, they would have been like any other film. yes harry potter and twilight would have been adored, loved even, and grossed millions for the production companies, but i strongly believe if they were not books to begin with, to increase the hype, they would not have been such majorly successful and sought after films! .. thats what i meant by over-rated!

I was ready to see the last Harry Potter movie, but after watching the first part of Harry Potter and and the Deathly Hallows, I lost my enthusiasm for this movie.I'm not interested in special effects, and I'm not a fan of the series and the genre itself, so I'd better save my money this time.

a lot of people have said to me that even for not being harry potter fans in anyway the last film is actually just a pretty good film allover, so i may still watch it.. the hype about the special effects annoys me though, because we've seen all these special effects in other films, yet harry potter is made out to be the only film with these in it!

as much as it pains me to say it, i quite liked part 1 too.. dobby dying completely broke my heart, even though i hadn't seen any of the rest of them, so hadn't grew an affection for him until that movie, people actually told me to them it was heart breaking from knowing him from other films!

Ah, well. The first part was sorta crappy, but Part 2 completely blew me away. The special effects, the drama, and just the conclusion of something that influenced me my whole life just made my day. I recommend you watch the movie.

I was a fan of Harry Potter movies until 2 of the 8 movies (Order of the Phoenix and the Half-Blood Prince) showed up. Those two movies were able to draw me out of the fans line by giving not giving anything new that I should be amazed at.
Even if there is a little bit of curiosity in me telling to find out what is the ending of the Harry Potter series, I still wouldn't watch the movie since 3D is too expensive.

i think 3d is terrible! those glasses pinch your head and give you a headache and you end up fed up with them on half way through the film, yet you can't even watch the film without them on because it's blurred. i think it's really silly! and you have to pay for them! so you are right.. waaaay too expensive!
