I always get up and go about my grocery shopping on Friday mornings. Well today I decided to have breakfast and then go to the Target in our town. I did not need meat or produce so I just got what I needed there.
I came out and put my groceries in the car and walked my cart back and as I turned to go back to my car this little wisp of a lady called out to me "Mam" "Mam". I turned to see whom was calling and to who she was calling for.
It was me...she was sitting on a bench had her target medicine in her hand, and said to me I am deaf I can't hear and I need a ride home.
I immediately thought bless your heart.
I said Please come with me and I will take you home.
Well home for this little lady was almost 10 miles away.
She said the trolly does not go to her area of home and she would have had to walk home.
We exchanged numbers and she told me she would need Medicine again in 3 days. I told her if she could go Tuesday I would come and pick her up and help her get her medication and take her to lunch.
I too am disabled and it really felt good to help someone else because I was able to do it.
I have bad days where I can't leave the house because of meds I am on but today was a good day because I am pretty sure I made a friend.
I am looking forward to tuesday and lunch!

That was very nice of you. I am disabled also and am not usually in the position to help anyone else. It would make me feel good to be in a position to help someone else, but I am usually the one being helped. I usually go grocery shopping on the same day, and I always run into this woman there. She gave me her number and said she would meet me and help me out if she can. That was very nice of her, but since then they have gotten electric carts and someone from the store helps me to the car, and a friend puts the groceries away, so I haven't had to call her. Your story reminds me of her. I was wondering if she told you how she got to the store in the first place?

She said one of her adult children dropped her off but they could not stay because they had work. So she was left on her own to try to get home 10 miles away. We do not have any type of bus service in our area. We have some trolly looking things but they are on a set schedule and do not go out of the way places.
yes I am disabled also. Some days are REALLY bad for me and a few days are good in a month.

Well done you!
I know exactly how you feel because I'm a volunteer driver for my community and extended community. I have regular clients I drive to doctor appointments or shopping and so forth. I know just how good are the feelings of being able to help people.
I work for a non profit, government funded organization in my community and I'm also on the management team.

marie: By seeing ur avatar I thought u must be in 30s. From what u have narrated I understand ur aged and disabled. Inspite of this u helped that old lady. U got a friend and who need ur help and u are having mind to help her. this will make u fit for helping others and u will be able to move freely.
