Helping others...

In my line work, I deal with people everyday. I have seen all walks of life and most often, I get really sad. It's because I see the least fortunate, least priviledged people struggling for survival. I have seen gory scenes of tradegy, even had a man die in front of me while I was holding his arm. And I say to mayself, I am very blessed to be who I am, the one giving help insted of asking for it. I am from the Philippines and we are not rich. A huge percentage of our population belong to the extreme poverty line. I work for the government and all we do are bent on helping these people. But it's never enough... We need more help from thr private sector. The rich people, should have the heart to share even just a morsel of their blessings to the least fortunate. Simple giving of school supplies to school children, providing free health care and employment opportunities are just a few of the things that we all can do to help. These may be just superficial and temporary efforts, but they are huge starters for bigger projetcs. A child with complete school supplies to last for almost the entire school year is ensured on a year of learning and saved from a year of labor and ignorance. OF course, providing employment or means of livelihood for the parents is vital to the child's survival and that of the whole family... Let us do our share in helping others.. We do not have to be rich.. We justr have to genuinely care..

Your previous work is like mine. I worked before as account officer for a microfinancing company. It aims to lend women in rural areas payable up to 6months. At the course of my work, I had to do this study on how to uplift the Filipino lives. I didn't finished my project study because I can't finalize it and can't help with the solution.

I have seen this in my country too. This is usually caused by electing 'don't care' politicians to run our country. Thinking of the rich in society, the answer I get is the same people who we elect and turn their backs to poor people. They run the country the way they feel, to demean poor people so that in electioneer period they come with the same money they stole from the public to convince people with. In my life I'm yet to see rich people in my country donating money to help less fortunate people in the society, even helping schools is just out of mind. Sad to say how we struggle to donate essential services to less fortunate people, as people who we call our leaders increasing their salaries every time they feel like. Bad that we live in a don't care society. Worse that we elect incompetent leaders, worst that we never learn from our mistakes. I really like your take on helping people.. Keep it up.

I agree with you! I always strive to help anyone I can, and I am far from rich! There are so many people in the world that are suffering because of not having the money they need to survive in this world. I also think there are so many people out there that have so much money, and riches that dont do as much as they could! There are so many people now a days that are reallt bad off because of this economy, and all you see is how the rich, is getting richer, and to top it off Obama is saying that the National Debt is the Peoples fault, so it should be up to us to pay it back! HELLO?!?! REALLY?!?! I for one, do not have any dept, and I still work my butt off, just to be able to provide for my family! I am so glad the he is in the office to help the economy, and be there for "The People"

hello there Mvinluan i understand how you feel, im also from the Philippines and I know how sometimes the situation looks unfair. some people have too much, some people are struggling for less. some people blame it on the government but the real reason behind poverty is our mind set. really. we have to set our goals and really work on them. and once we have succeeded on our own quest we should help other people in making their life better. kudos to your job. god bless you! - kat
