Yesterday, my brother shared to me a link through FB about Marcelito Pomoy, Piipinas Got Talent's Season 2 winner. The link was this guy's recent ASAP Rock's belting version of "What Kind of Fool I am". I was superb amazed with his version considering that I know he is a guy and he really hit the high notes perfectly like the usual singing belters like Regine, Charice, Angeline, etc. However, that was not the only thing I was amazed of him.
Last night, I can't find the word sleep, so I had to navigate youtube and check out Marcelito's videos. I heard his life story through Karen Davila's show when he was the center story of the show as well as at Kris TV. All throughout his existence, he had struggled to live. He was months old when his mother left them and his father was imprisoned. Because no one will take care of him and his sibling, he was taken to the jail where his father was imprisoned. When he was 2 years old, he was adopted, but later when he was 8 years old, he stowed away to find his real parents.
To cut the story short, it was only through PGT where he was with his family. Indeed, I was touched with his story. He deeply undergo everything to survive.
Check his videos and life story interviews at youtube.

I admire his persistence and determination to support himself at an early age. His experiences molded him to be humble and God answered his prayers. I admire him also for his courage that despite he is going through, he never lose hope and attempted to rebel or destroy his life.

Hmmm... his story teaches us all to be humble. I hope my cousins would know about his story.. all they do is play arcade games, they don't even mind saving some to help their mom who is already having a hard time budgeting their expenses.

Personally, "Happy Feet" was my bet for Pilipinas Got Talent season 2. But I have nothing against Marcelito Pomoy. I think he has the talent and an amazing life story, but I think Happy Feet deserved better. Not a lot of Filipinos can tap dance. It's a really hard thing to do. I would know because I have tried it with hours of practice, and I still can't do it right. As for Marcelito's talent, I think a lot of Filipinos can do that. Filipinos are really talented when it comes to singing. There are just a lot of good singers here in our country. And the thing that he does with doing a high-pitched female voice? I've seen others do that too, and better. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Marcelito or anything, but I think Happy Feet should've been given the chance. Because I think Marcelito would have been given a lot of projects even if he didn't win the competition. :)

You've got a point... I really wanted Happy Feet to win too because their talent is really unique and they're good at it. Especially since they're from our province. I've voted of them a couple of times hoping that they would win...
But I'm OK with Marcelito winning too. I guess they were not really destined to win... anyway, a lot of people I think would still help the Happy Feet duo get projects. I've seen many got touched when the Happy Feet gave there speech.

i guess i also seen and heard his story on another show of the same network. yes, since day one of marcelito's PGT journey, i followed him. and when the final judgement came, i am proud to say that even though i didn't vote, my prayers were with him. it was even hard for me to decide between the other contestant, the happy feet who also need the money. but i really go for marcelito as his talent is really extra amazing. and mind you, everyone asks if he is gay but he sticks with his answer as he is a straight guy.

His story is really sad but at least because of PGT, he was able to reunite his family. I think God has blessed him after his long struggle in life. I'm actually a fan of Happy Feet, but Marcelito's story is very touching. I think it's worth being played in MMK. Many people would learn from it.

Yes, he had an amazing background. I have seen all of those stories about him and like you i was impressed. I'm happy what he has achieved and yes he really deserve to win. I hope that he'll be able to take care of the talent God has given him and never abuse it. That talent allowed him to see his family together again once more, though not really back in each others arms, but at least even once he saw all of them together.
