yes of course because what's we speak generally is not correct Filipino and there's so much to learn about the language. It is necessary for us to know that Engkish is not a language suited in our culture and tradition and to learn about the Filipino will open the eyes and mind of those who belittle our own "culture" and embraces the one that enslave minds and make them confused about their own culture. We are not English speaking country, not all of us understand the language as claimed by the education authorities who make us all "New Yorker in Tondo". This language of power (English) separates the poor and the Elite who loves to speak in English!

I think it is important. Filipino subject is not just about knowing how to speak the language but on the right uses of it. It doesn't follow that if you know how to speak the language you already have much knowledge about it. I have classmates who are good in math and science but they struggle in Filipino. I think there are a lot of students who are like that and it's the same for other languages as well.

It is indeed important to have this subject in school. Though we already know how to speak Filipino but there's a lot to it than a language. It is better that we are all well informed about our own culture and language before studying the foreign ones.

hi, for me as a pilipino,we still need an d also important to have a subject of Filipino as known as tagalog because this is our national language here in our country. and perhaps many people not just here in our country still give importance and significance of this subject.

To me it's important, writing it grammatically correct is not the same as just speaking a language, speaking a language changes especially the Filipino's love to use and invent slang, written reference and teaching it correctly ensures that it is preserved in it's original form.

I agree. The Filipino subject is needs to be taught in classroom since the the said language also evolves the same way as the the English language does. Besides, it would be a good indicator of our culture and sense of nationalism if we try to at east preserve our language from being used only for everyday conversations. If we can speak fairly good English, enough that we can communicate with other nations, we should try to improve our opwn language and not treat it as a second-rate language.

If that Filipino subject doesn't cover Noli Me Tangere and El filibusterismo... then yeah.

Of course, how else would the children learn about Macli-ing Dulag and Lapu-lapu, and how would they know further how rich our culture and language are if not for Filipino subjects.

Ofcourse it is still important. How else would the young learn about the filipino literature? We should also remember that our national language is tagalog (filipino), and if filipino subject won't be taught in some parts of our country not speaking tagalog, then they would would have a hard time interacting with other filipinos.

I would undoubtedly say yes to your question. I still think that Filipino subjects are as important as any other subjects in school. Knowing your roots, the beauty of your own language, history and literature are important in understanding the meaning of your humanity in association with our culture. I don't see why DepEd or the government would allow such a sense of taking the Filipino subject for granted. I have to admit that there were times I got bored with the subject but definitely, I have learned a lot about the subject, whether it's about simple grammar or sentence construction. You see, it would be a shame if foreigners who opt to learn Filipino subjects at certain schools or at some tutoring classes, would know how to create a beautiful poetry better than us.

Hi damned! How are you today? I think it's always important to include Filipino subjects in school. How else are we going to promote our own country to the young ones. When they grow old, what will they teach their kids? Besides, we are Filipinos and we should be fluent in our native language before we try to speak other languages.

Yes, it is very important that we have the Filipino subject in school, though it is evident that in this times, one's ability to speak English is very much in demand for any kind of work. We can hear a lot of grammatically incorrect statementts or sentences even from the well- known journalists or media men. It is because Filipino is not as easy as most people would like to believe. I myself know that there are times that I know what I am saying or writing is grammatically incorrect, but usually people around me will just ignore my mistakes.

I think it is still important to study the Filipino subject in school. It is where we learn our language well and its history. Just like as the Americans have English language in school. We maybe Filipinos but we still have lots to learn about our language, culture and history

Well, it depends on where the subject is being held. If it's the Philippines, then they definitely need the Filipino subject. Well, elsewhere, it's not so important.
