I found one of my mix CDs from a few years ago and it reminded me of all of these different songs that I had just about forgotten about. I used to be big into pop as a kid (backstreet boys all the way! lol) and got into rock & punk rock as I got into middle school - 11 and 12 years old. Thinking about it now, I pretty much stayed a punkrocker until about halfway through high school where I started to become more open-minded about rap, classic rock, and other genres. Pretty much ever since I listen to a variety of music - mainly just rock. But little bits and pieces from other genres too.
How about you? Have you always liked what you've liked? How has your taste in music changed over the past, say 10 years?

It's amazing how my taste didn't change, now I feel like music are really cr*ppy. The lyrics are terrible, just these days a melody kept playing my mind as the music says in spanish: "Everyone, out the door now." I mean how stupid is that? Or there's another that I couldn't believe when I understood what it was saying in English: "D*mn, you sexy b*tch..." wow...that is so terrible. The musics since 2000 for me are to listen and dance a lot for a week and get bored.
I loved more the 90's or 80's music, decades passed by and I still like them or can listen. So I guess the taste didn't change at all :D

Just like many, what you experience is somewhat a periodical bias. It happens some grandpas or grandmas uttering 'what the heck are you listening to' 'what kind of music is this' or 'what kind of crap are you listening to. Somehow, down the road, kids today when they are like 20s or 30s or older would say, "I prefer music/song from 2000s since today's music are so crappy and boring." Sounds familiar?

When I was in grade school, I love boy band songs. Backstreet boys and Nsync music are my top favorites. I also like the band Westlife from UK. However before I graduate in high school, my music preference changed. I learned to like alternative and rock music. Then when I was in college, I became a fan of classical and old music.

From age 3 til 13 , I liked R and B and country, and pop. I started playing classical at age 9. But at age 13 , I got my rock and roll heart. From then on it was everything from soft rock to punk. when people asked what music I liked , I would say Everything but Rap and Opera. And then the late 90's I added them! I saw Carmen and loved it, And Then between Coolio's Gangster's Paradise and and the movie Hustler and Flow , I got into hip hop, well at least a little. Now I can say I am into a little of everything.

Good topic! I enjoy everything from jazz to punk to metal. I can't stand rap or hip hop and have never cared for country. Concerning changes over the years, the older I get, the heavier I like my music. I listen to Rob Zombie and Megadeth now. I've become a HUGE U2 fan during the past 10 years of so!

I used to love the Backstreet boys, Boyzone, Hanson and even the Moffats when I was in my late Elementary period, I was 12 then but not until I was in my High School when I learned to love the Rock Music particularly the Metal type, but like you I'm very open to different kinds of Music like hiphop etc up to this date but I admit I really hate the RNB music eversince. I also like mellow, acoustic rock, alternative, grunge, punk, emo and screamo, and a little bit of oldies..lol..so all in all I would say there's no significant change about my taste in music.

I don't think it changed too much. In 2001, I was probably listening a lot of Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls and Britney Spears. And, I have to say that I still like them. Also, I listen a lot of Taylor Swift. I know it's kind teenager song and I already have 23 years, but I love her songs.

I don't think it's changed all that much. I've always liked very melodic beautiful music, whether Rock/Pop, Classical, Jazz or any other genre. I can enjoy music now that I enjoyed when I was 10 years old. One area where it has changed slightly is in the field of very hard Rock. I don't listen to it all that much; it doesn't affect me like it used to, and sometimes it can make me uncomfortable. I don't like music loud like I used to; and would tend to avoid very aggressive or dark music. Which I used to like a lot. I prefer more mellow music these days; and also, I don't listen as intensely as I used to. I used to like to blast my music out so everyone in the house could heart it; and this excited me. These days, I prefer to play it for me and me alone. Music is not the obsession it once was. But I still love it as much as I ever did. Just in a different way.

I was always into a variety of music types and styles from opera to metal, but I seem to always be replacing my music list and I have very few songs from say 10 years back. The fact that a great deal of 'oldies' are being remixed with a new dance tempo makes me replace a lot of my older songs too. If there is a music style that I was not so into a few years ago but I really enjoy now it is house type music, like techno, trance, dance music especially European styled dance music. The only constants is classical music, both orchestral and operatic though I do listen to different composers, I always return to a handful that I have liked for years.

It has changed a lot. Not over the past 10 years, but may be like 20 yeras. I used to like "rock and roll" and "jazz" music a lot before. I still do, but over the years "classical music" has taken over. I am going from Elvis on to Chopin ! I am pretty much addicted to classical music these days, the way of relaxation and getting rid of the stresses of the day !

My music taste hasn't change too much over the yeas. I've started to get into different genres. But I still love rock, even if now, it's a bit on the heavier side. I'm starting to enjoy a bit of techno and classical, in addition to my usual hard rock and jazz.

Good topic. When I was a kid, I was so into pop too. And then when I became 14 years old, I became interested to Japanese and Korean Pop music, they're so catchy though I don't understand the lyrics LOL. Most of their songs makes me wanna dance. When I became a senior in high school, I became so much into punk rock music too. Then when I got into college, like you I've also became more open to other types of music. I think being into a certain type of music is just a phase. Any way, I became so interested to poprock, glam rock, Christian rock and also to oldies! I love 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's music.
