As I write this, I am listening to an old song.. By ELVIS PRESLEY..
Its Just beautiful.. really is.. Softly as I leave you..
Its about a man who is in a hospital bed, his wife has been at his bedside for a few days now as he is dying slowly- and basically she falls asleep on him, which is when the man feels like its okay to quietly slip away-
I mean its just a lovely song, really makes me feel there is a beauty to death..
is this weird?

Its really hard time for both a man and a women in such a situation.Children after they grown up its hard for the kids to look after their parents. And if only one parent is there then they can not give the same love. It can never be fulfilled or replaced in anyways.
A life partner is a life partner .No one can take that place and it can never be filled.

Most definitely umabharti.. I just think its heart breaking to lose someone close to you as it is..the emotions that are experienced, but the song just made me feel so sad that he waited til she was asleep.. so she didnt see him 'pass'..
And I agree with your comment of a life partner being just that, a life partner.. I just hope that when the time comes, I can all be 'accepting' to the fact and that I can attempt to live life happily, until I meet them again..that is (",)
Thank you for your response..

No its not weird.
Honestly, I'm more into old songs than the modern one. The old songs makes you realize something beautiful after listening to it. Am not saying that the modern does not.. It does too, but I can say the older ones are really straight from the heart! :)

I agree.. most of the modern music does not carry the sound nor quality of the older generations..the music was actually felt by the artist, as though their heart and emotion really is reflected in their musical compositions. I just cant stand the whole distortion kind of sounds they have nowadays- some of it can be bearable..
An acoustic guitar? A good singing voice..and Im there LoL..

Elvis wouldn't be king for no reason. I know I'm no music expert but his songs are really those that should really remain in the industry and history along with the chosen others as well.
Well, it isn't weird, it's lovely and sad at the same time. Music that really captures our emotion really stays in our minds.

vivamir no you are not weird at all as that paints a lovely but tragic picture to me. I think Elvis has made a lot of us so aware of some beautiful songs like the one I just really love ' I Can't Falling IN Love With You. the one where it goes "Wise men say only fools rush in,
but I can't help falling in love with you." That song always makes
me think of my deceased husband. The pianist played that at our very small wedding so it has double meaning to me. Elvis made
these older songs resonate in our minds. I do not think some other singer would have made the song sound as good as he did.

Thats a lovely song too..it really is- a band called UB40 did a remake of it when I first heard it..but then I fell totally in love with Elvis' original.. those lyrics 'wise men say only fools rush in..' was a phrase my Dad used to use when we were younger..so that has another meaning for myself- but they are touching words..
Im sorry to hear of your husbands passing, but Im happy to hear you have such wonderful memories of being together- and there is no better song!
And I definitely agree that there is no other artist that could sing this particular song any better, Elvis made every letter and not of his songs to perfection..
Thank you for your response Hatley..(",)

Not weird mate, Elvis is the best artist ever to live. Softly as I leave you is a beautiful song. Especially the live versions, he puts real heart into it.
