Do you listen to musics that are very popular? Like Rihanna being this gal that was beated up and not even a year later release a music that says how she like the way it hurts and things like that...Or lyrics that talk about s.. and other stuff, really putting bad things in the minds of teenagers, as they are played over and over again. Didn't music just changed too much, or it is just me?

yes music are good if we used in the good used and creating some inspirational word that when the people can hear they can benefit some word that they can apply to their daily life , but if the music are not in a good lyrics we can call these as none sense why because there was no benefits in listening to the music that cannot give good effect to the listener.

I cant find any meaning in any songs that are being released today....most of them only have a few words in them or you cant make out what they are saying!

Not all lol.. Only some.. I only like the melody. But the lyrics. There's no point in understanding them. Listening is ok but understanding is not. No offense.

Music is entertainment and its up to the parents to make sure their kids don't listen to the music if it could affect their behavior. I don't think theses anything wrong with the music. The problem isn't the music, but the parents that are to busy to take care of their kids, and let the tv raise them..

No, it is not just you. Pat Benatar made a song that was a pretty big hit "hell is for children," which is a song about kids getting abused and beat up. There were songs were real emotional like "seasons in the sun" by Terry Jacks. You can go on youTube and listen to just these songs. Today, I don't know if those songs would have survived.

That is why i get picky with music.PLus do Rihanna even write her own music? i just see them as entertainers and not singers or artists..
I would rather go for u2 or bono, i see meaning in their music.. or Coldplay where their music feels like poems that has very deep meaning.

No it has changed. Alot of radio is about getting $$$, women, power, and alot of shenanigans. How many songs talk or even thank God on the radio?
"God is good all the time; all the time, God is good."
Maybe you try making your own music and lyrics. See if it it similar to Rihanna or it even has a stronger, deeper meaning for you.
I have done so and I can say my stuff is better that nearly everything I have heard on the radio.

I think there are many singers who only try to be famous and popular among teenagers and don't realy care about the music itself.
When people are trying to get popular and having very impressive clips with very bad music, I personaly think this is really lame!
Singers should care about doing music of a high standard and not care about looking handsome on their clips.
But on the other hand I do believe that there are many onther singers today how truly care about the quality of their music and are doing really good music!
Have a wonderful day :)

In my opinion, music has changed a lot.
Back to the year of 90's and way back to the 60's where music are really good ones and has sense.
The lyrics,the tune,beat and melody.
Some old songs are even revived nowadays due to the absence of good music these recent years.

absolutely! gone are the days when the best lyrics have ever been composed, songs of air supply, chicago, kenny rogers, and the like. songs before were well-though of and have risen up due to its melodious collaboration as well as its meaning.

No,it's not just you,i too feel the same.I feel that the most important part of the song(apart from music)is the lyrix, because, lyrix is what that brings life to the song. But,most of the songs these days are of very bad/vulgar lyrix. They have a very high impact on the people, not just only on teenagers. But,still, there are songs out there that has some meaning in it,that tell us something good. So,what i am trying to say is that everything lies in us.We just have to make the right choice. That's it.Cheers,...

I do listen to music. Any kind and that depends to my mood of the day.
If im a bit og angry and disappointed with people / person and sad i go through some upbeat music or rock. But if my mood is ok and i feel lighter then my music are so much in love especially in the 80s music.
Music and lyrics now a days are so hard to understand due to a very loud and fast kinda music. But if i to choose which is the best music ever are in the 80s and toward early 90s.

I concur with you, there are so many musicians whose songs leaves you baffled, when a sinner only dwells on s., it leaves you blank whereas you sought enjoyment and nourishment in the song. But like some have responded, it boils down to tastes. While I loathe a song there are others who would do all in their means to access such a song.

To be honest, I bet 99% of you people out there dislike my music genre, which is mainly why I dislike all this so called R&B. But I do see were you are coming from actually, I mean look at her other songs 'What's my name?' That's a song name? How... Strange.. You'd think most would know their name. That's why I prefer my genre of music.

Sorry to disagree with you but its probably you.
When rock genre was first introduced, many of the older generations thought it was trash. But the younger generations, felt it spoke to them. The same goes for the new genres that are coming out. To the older, the music may seem stupid and very negative, but to the new generation, its something nothing less of inspiring.
Yes, I admit that some of the music that are coming out are just plain stupid. But what genre of music haven't produced a stupid song.
And again, music resonates differently to each individual. And those music are popular for a reason.

Hi katie: Well I feel shocked about Rihanna singing this. Sometimes I have this same feeling, specially when you find a song with no meaning or even worst teaching the wrong lessons to teens for example but it's not all the music. There are still nice songs that have been produced. Firework by Katy Perry has a really nice lyrics, I love almost all the songs by Hurts, a band and they have meaningful lyrics and I'm sure you also can find a song that you love produced on these days that it doesn't only have a good music background but also the lyrics are good.

I think recently most of the songs are all about s thing, party and all the crazy stuffs.Music should inspire people and if the kind of music they hear is all about those things then I think it's not good. the music before during the 80's and 90's era are really great and meaningful for me.
