I have recently heard of a very interesting news how the Internet helped in uniting a brother and a sister separated long ago in their childhood. The incidence happened in the UK. A man and a woman both above the age of 40 years developed a relationship with each other over the Internet in the way that modern relationships develop these days over the Internet. They chatted about this and that and, as the weeks passed, grew ever closer. And then the time came when they decided to meet. They picked a pub in London for their first encounter. When they finally met, they discovered just how much they had in common. In fact, they had rather too much in common- they were brother and sister. They quickly established that they were born to the same parents but were separated long ago in 1975 during their childhood when their father and mother split. The sister joined her mother while the brother went to a distant place with his father. The kids were totally out of any communication with each other. As adults, they tried to search for one another but had no luck. Now on one hand there were joy and surprise and on the other there was embarrassment felt by both. Now they have each other but not quite in the way they had hoped.

A similar thing happened in Romania where a person has found his mom after having disappeared when he was a child, when he had an accident and he wasn't found. He couldn't remember anything for a long time, but recently he remembered the name of his mother and with the help of a social network he found his mother. It seems that social networks have positive sides as well.

It is also no doubt a very good news. Like any other invention of science and technology, social networks have both positive and negative sides. We have to accept this truth with an open heart.

Yes, everything has its positive and negative sides, but we are people who can think and judge and it is up to us which sides we want to use.

I can see how that would be akward for them both. Though that's not the first time I've heard of people finding each other. Most stories I've seen about such things are through facebook. I find that rather... unique. Though I bet it was akward for them to discover they were... and are related, but that would explain some of the things in common, but at the same time a conwindence if ever I saw one. Think about it, for several years the pair lived two seperate lives only to come across one another online developing most like a romantic-like relationship. Oh well that's how the ball bounceses I guess.

Yes, both of them felt embarrassed as because they were in romantic love and after meeting each other they discovered their true relation. So still now they are in love but that is altogether different from that they had before meeting each other.

That's really a wonderful story on how the brother and sister able to meet each other through internet after being separated for so many years. No wonder, people always describe parents who split their relationship always brings more harm to their kids. So, it is indeed unbelievable that these 2 children have the chance to meet each other again. There are a few stories that i ever heard, where many sibling which separated from each other during young time, unable to locate their siblings forever. This is just one of those lucky few who able to meet.

I heard about this story some time ago. I do think that it is neat that the internet was able to bring the brother and the sister together, however, I hate the way that they were brought together. I know that parents do split and that is something that people just have to deal with. However, I don't think that it is right that siblings sometimes have to go through life without knowing one another because of the fact that their parents are not able to get along.

Wow! Perhaps that's the very connection they felt towards each other. It's just bad that they didn't know about the truth early on. Still, it's good that they reunited after such a long time. I hope they make the best out of their situation.

I think it is more funny than inspiring as the boy who was chatting her was her brother. Lol, Social network internet is great even today i was on twitter i found somone with name govindi tiwari is trendinf after some investigation i found that he is just a old school boy from allahabad who love orkut and had made a blog with his photos all over it and he has also got a twitter account on which he has tweeted ony once in his life. So what you can cal it the boy has never been to twitter after a tweet four months ago and was trending on twitter on fourth position on world and on first in india. what you will say the boy just got famous sitting at home and i don't think he would be known with it. Internet is really a very big stuff but the thing is on you that how you are going to use it. As of me i use to for social networking and try my luc for money making.

I think the internet has alot going for it if people will just treat eachother with respect. This is a great story and I am glad it ended well for these two people. I am a romantic and though this isn't the type of romantic story I like it is a fine one and I am glad you shared it with us.

Yes situations like this can happen. In fact I have six siblings I myself have not met. So anything is quite possible. It would be not only embarrassing but devastating as they began to have feelings for one another. On the other hand they were mature enough to understand that it could not be that way but still care for each other as family.

Great news I also heard one news before some days ago a mother get back her child due to internet. They make facebook friend then chat to each other and one day they meet to each other. In childhood his parents get divorced since the child not seen his mother and still this incident not know the father. Both mother and child meet to each other. Really internet is great place if people used it in better way.

Hello Doctordidi, It was nice to read it the end they met. Today the technology is so developed that sometimes it becomes easy to search people. Even i have also searched so many of my school friends. Its real bad when couple separate due to any reason it always kids who bear the ill result of their separation as they don't get the affection of their mother & father together.

Haha wonderful thing to have happened. This just proves the Internet is not all bad, it connects people closer, e.g. you can see what is happening in UK from the US just by using the Internet. It is also quite a lucky coincidence considering how the odds are against them meeting and reuniting. There are like over 6 million users of internet and it is really hard( if you have a lost brother) to find him over the Internet. Though things like this happen, they are quite rare as well.
