many girls this time really wanted to loose weight and there are a lot of tips out there. Well, I'm different. I want to gain weight because I'm so thin. Even if I eat a lot, I never gain weight. People say "are you still eating?, why are you so thin?"...gosh! it makes me so much frustrated. I'm reading a lot of discussions here and many are asking how to loose weight. But now, I'm asking, how can I gain my weight. Besides eating a lot(just what I'm doing), what else can make me fat? all your suggestions are accepted. thank you.

I think a weight training is going to help you on your propose of gain weight. Also, if you drink protein supplements and a high calorie supplement, you are going to achieve your goal even faster.

I have a friend who has same problem with you. However, after going taking a course in gym lesson, she learned a lot especially on eating food.Must eat lot of food that contain protein, vitamin and etc. After 6 months, she gained her desired weight. It is not about how many food do you eat,but how many healthy food do you eat... =) and also exercise to make our body fit.Not to forget, always think positive...

hmm. First start hating life. second stop taking anti depressinates if you are. third buy chocolate like a 8 pack of reese and a 20 reg. pepsi and eat it all. Than after go home and veg out infront of the tv watch a movie and fall asleep. Then repeat daily. You'll gain the weight :D lol. Well worked for me.. Not in a good way thou. Cause Anexity, stress, and depression of course when I did this I wasn't on any anti depression pills didn't realized I did need them in that time of my life. But a healthy way of gaining weight I'm not sure. Maybe if you drink some protein drinks and eat a big meal with them may help but honestly not sure.

This is kind of problem which is very difficult to give a solution for. Most suffer from overweight problems while some needs to gain weight, apart from eating more and good rest its very hard to give any other suggestion, if you can you spend a long vacation somewhere cozy where you will just eat and sleep and see whether you can gain weight.. that's the best I can suggest...

When I wanted to put on weight, many moons ago, i had a hard time with it. You still have to eat healthy otherwise it will hurt you down the line. Increase your proteins and the good fats in your diets. Eat trail mixes with lots of nuts in it. The nuts have the good fats in it, also add some chocolate to it. Also, use a nutritional supplement (like Instant Breakfast) in addition to your normal breakfast. Eat before going to bed. Your metabolism is at its lowest while you sleep. If you can stomach the taste, switch from 2% milk to whole milk. Add is some additional carbs to your diet.

Hmm..you seem to have choosen the road that most will not want to see. As you mentioned that you are thin and even though you eat a lot it does not help as you still remain the same. there was one point of time when I was addicted to burgers and used to eat them 3-4times a week along with fries and a cheese in the burgers. I continued doing so for about a month and I eventually noticed that I had put on 3KGS in a month. I was shoched and was wondering how did all this happen. Then my friends told me that eating burgers and fries which are fatty foods will make you put on a lot of weight. So may be you could try this and see if it helps..

Hi gidz, welcome to myLot. I think the best way you can do is to drink Enervon HP chocolate drink flavor and Ensure. You can also try Appeton. I tried Ensure and Enervon HP before and it was very effective in gaining weight. Before, I used to drink Ensure three times a day; after breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I gained a lot of weight using that method only. Please do not eat too much meat and other foods that are full of cholesterol as they are bad to your health. Just try drinking protein milk or choco like Enervon HP or Ensure together with fruits and vegetables. You can incorporate it with white meat like fish. That is perfect! Here in the Philippines, this costs too much, so I stopped drinking them. Happy mylotting!

Actually, I've seen more discussions about how to gain weight than I have to loose weight. And it seems to me that usually people give really unhealthy advice, like picking up nasty unhealthy habits like snacking on junk food and veging out all the time. It's kind of frustrating seeing stuff like that pop up. My sister and I are both very thin. She's 22 and has never weighed 100 pounds in her life. She eats whatever she wants, as much as she wants, and it doesn't do a thing. She's also super lazy, but she doesn't care so she hasn't done anything to correct it. I gained weight through healthy diet and a little weight training. I recommend you go for trying to build some muscle mass rather than trying to gain fat. You don't want to develop bad habits that you'll regret later in life when you've gained a few years or had a few children and your lightning fast metabolism starts slowing to a crawl (And it WILL happen!). So don't go looking to gain fat mass, it's hard to lose when you don't want it anymore! Eat healthy, exercise, and do some weight training!

i am gaining weight as well, besides i eat a lot ,i also take some traditional chinese medicine to recuperate my body,i searched a lot of information about gaining weight ,they all say those people who eat a lot can not be fat ,the most important reason is their digestive system are weaker than other people's ,so they must take some medicine to strengthen it.i have taken the medicine for a while,i don't know whether it can work, but i really want to gain weight,so i must have a try,if i gain weight successfully, i will tell you.

When you are thin and skinny, you can eat healthy nutritional food, drink protein drinks and do work out muscles training. Start building your muscles with weight lifting. Someone who is building muscles do not look thin or skinny. Muscles grow in size on one body. Colhydrates, protein and fat as much as your body needs to grow your muscles together with vitamines and minerals.

I have the same weight problem with you when I was in college.I think one of your problems is not really the amount of food you eat rather the quality of food.As Filipinos we are consuming a lot of rice, with little viand, which should not be.You can just consume 1 to 2 cups of rice per meal, and you have to eat a lot of proteins or the body building food groups like meats, fish, eggs, beans, etc. If you haven't seen any improvement you need to consult a doctor.Maybe you have some health problems that can lead to weight loss like hyperthyroidism, diabetes or parasitism. You can also take some multivitamins.I had tried Centrum multivitamins, and it helps me gain weight.

Same here! I also made a discussion about trying to gain weight and a lot of people posted nice suggestions there. Now I am trying to just control my metabolism and eat healthy foods with vitamin supplements. I am trying to eat more than what I burn everyday. It really is hard as I have a fast metabolism but I won't be giving this up. Try to consult a doctor too to see if you have some case of hyperthyroidism or other diseases related to rapid weight loss. If it is simply due to fast metabolism all you can do is eat, eat and eat. Same as what I am doing right now!

tuyyuyyu I had the same problem during my teens. I ate a lot and I don't gain weight even if I wanted to. That is because our metabolism is much faster when we are younger and I still don't gain weight even at my age of 36, although I am still a good eater and I am happy about it. I have also learned that there is setting point to which our body tells us that that is our weight no matter what you do with it. I don't think you should be too bothered if you are thin, especially if you are healthy and active and not feeling well. Maybe you are still very young and in time that you will become a woman then maybe you'll get the weight that you like. Just be healthy and eat well.

Don't just eat and eat, it'll make you sick, and even if it isn't making you gain weight it can still cause health problems. I think you should contact your doctor, talk to them and let them know you are unhappy with your weight, and you would like some advice on how you can gain weight in a healthy manner. Wouldn't it be nice if I could just give you about 20 of my pounds? We'd both be happy then. haha Good luck!

I remember my sister having the same kind of problem before marriage, but after marriage and a kid she now looks quite good, it should be your metabolism which is working fast to burn your calories, I would suggest you go for a vacation if you can and just eat and sleep and do nothing for a while (if that's possible) and surely you will gain weight...

I wish I could help you, but I have been facing the same problem since I was in high school or way back more. It's harder for a guy like me, because girls like bigger guys and I'm tall but very awkwardly thin which is one reason I have very low self-esteem with regards to my physical appearance. I came to accept that it has something to do with genes or metabolism because that was what some people would explain to me after seeing how much I eat, and it's definitely a lot. I guess there is still hope, it's just hard to say yet because I haven't tested them myself, but I want to try and go for it. Good luck to us!

I don't think eating and eating will make you gain weight instantly. I think your metabolism is quite fast and your body burns calories easily. Like the others have suggested, it would be best to consult a doctor or dietician who can give you a certain diet and exercise routine to follow. Just like losing weight, gaining weight needs you to observe a balance of food and exercise. It's not very healthy to just eat and eat in the hopes of getting fat, as you may experience illnesses and high blood pressure in the process because you're not doing it properly. Go to your family doctor and ask him or her for advise on your weight problem. Good luck!

If you want to gain weight, the best thing you can do is find a doctor that is going to give you an appropriate diet. But, if you don't want to do that, you can buy a high-calorie supplement. You only need to take this supplement one time per day or more (depends of your case) and definitely you are going to gain weight.

Well I don't have a problem like that but the best advice is to look at your input and output. Input is the food and drinks you eat. Since you say you eat a lot I would look at the types of food you eat. Are you eating most of your calories in one type of food such as carbs or protein? If so try to balance it out or try eating more from one group rather than another see if that changes anything. Output is what you do to burn calories such as activity level, exercise and resting metabolic rate. Look at your activities and see if you can tone it down if you exercise a lot or are doing a lot of cardio. Working with weights can increase your muscles size and could help give you a little more mass and strength to even out your thin physique. If you don't really exercise much I would guess that you have a high resting metabolism sometimes this is genetic but other times it can signal a hyperactive thyroid or other medical issues. I know one of my friends growing up had a thyroid condition and she was always thin without trying and always really warm even when the weather was really cold outside. Eventually she went of medication and gained some weight and was cold when it was cold out. If changes in diet and exercise don't seem to help I would definitely seek medical advice. It could be as easy as taking a daily pill and your weight would even itself out over time. Good luck.
