When I was gone my sister's house on her 25th anniversary I have seen some new thing and I was shocked my sister is sleeping on the floor and when I asked her why? she tell me she is habit is such and she can't sleep even on the carpet. But I cant sleep direct on the floor otherwise my full legs and hand will damaged.
Some people sleeps on the carpet, some people sleeps on the bed they can't sleep even on the carpet and some people sleeps on the floor directly without carpet. Share your views really this is good for sleeping on the floor or this is bad habit. How you sleeps on the floor, on the carpet or on the bed. Because most of the people likes only carpet it is also called satranji in hindi.

Sleep -- Nearly one third of our life is spent in sleeping. But if there is no sleep one cannot function effectively. all living beings sleep -- yes animals also sleep.
I can sleep anywhere-- while travelling in a bus in sitting posture itself I use to sleep--what I am telling is about 40 years ago when I use to go to my office.
I can sleep well in running trains --only once or twice I had problems from others talking in the train and that disturbed me a lot.
I can sleep on plain floor or with carpet also. good day.

I used to be able to sleep on the floor when I was maybe 18 or so. I cannot sleep on a hard floor, I need a mattress or a real bed. They say that sleeping on the floor is good for your back, I don't know about that. I prefer a firm but comfortable bed.

I don't have any problem sleeping on the floor, but should/must have some cover or cushion and not directly on floors.
What if the floor is a cement/tiled,marble..i am sure that would be so cold and not good for our body.
I sleep in my bed with lots of pillows, and i can sleep on the floors with foam, cushion and pillows too.
have a good day always dear sis

I would much rather sleep on the bed then on the floor or on the carpet. If I have a bed, I would never want to sleep on the floor. the floor is so hard and uncomfortable. I'll get backache when i sleep on the floor.
In the past, i used to like sleeping in my mother's room and I would use my blanket and put it on the floor and sleep on it. Even thought it was hard, I like sleeping there.
Times have passed and now, i wouldn't even think of that.

Yes friend bed is good place for sleeping rather than floor or carpet. Plain floor is really uncomfortable and I cant sleep even for a single our on the floor. I cant sleep without blanket and bed. Thanks for sharing your view.

Definitely. Every night, I would love to snuggle up to a cozy bed every night. That on'e of the thing that I look forward to every single night. Switching on the aircon and then covering myself with blankets.

Actually, the way we sleep is a matter of getting accustomed to. As what your sister have said, she is used to sleeping on the floor, so that's what she does.
The nice thing about it, is that, that way, she can sleep even if there are no beds around.

Hi there Surekharathi,
For me it depends on what type of floor you will sleep on. If the floor type is somehow a cement type, I think this is not a good idea. Hence, the cement is quite cold and not good to our body during sleeping time. In addition, since cement is somehow have a cold effect to our body, it will also bring our health at risk. There are a lot of joint pains and nerve pains than can be get from the cement floor.
However, if the floor is somehow a wooden floor, it is somehow fine. As the wooden floor is not that cold to bring our health at risk. Though, this is somehow fine, still this is not healthy and proper, since our body somehow needs a soft cot to feel comfortabiliy. Even if you are comfortable sleeping on the wooden floor, a muscle pain is somehow inevitable.
Nevertheless, it is still best to sleep in a soft cot for healthy reasons and in order that our body finds comfortability while we are sleeping.

Hi surekharathi,
I do sleep on mattress. and no problem on floor also. They is a proverb in my language, in english translation " Sleep doesn't know the place." Let me tell u a small story why it is called so. Once their lived a great king. He has wast kingdom. Once he went for hunting, missed the path, he travelled for several days. Finally when he was atmost tired, he found some hut. He went inside, he found some sage was in meditation. He waited for the sage to open his eyes. but before that the king felt asleep unknowingly. when the king opened his eyes, sage was smiling pleasently. Then the king recognised that he selpt on floor unknowingly. THen king astonished and said " how did i sleep on floor". Then the sage said " Sleep doesn't know the place".
Good day friend.

I do have many Indian friends who like to sleep on the floor especially during the hot afternoon.
I am sure sleeping directly on the floor will be cool.
For Chinese, we discourage people to sleep directly on the floor to avoid the unnecessary sickness.
For me, the floor is too hard to sleep unless I am extremely tire.
However, every race has his habit and culture. I am not sure if sleeping on the floor is a kind of Indian's culture or not even though most of my Indian friends do so.
Good or bad to sleep on the floor shall be personal's preference.

Actually I can sleep everywhere on the couch,on the floor,on the bed sometimes even on a chair while sitting

I can rerlate to sleeping on the floor but for different reasons. I have been staying in hospital for a while and in there I have a single bed, which is not something I have rea;lly had for most of my adult life.
I have been on some powerfull sleepnig tablets and they have been so effective that they have caused me to crash into furnature or fall asleep on the floor or fall asleep while trying to do a taask. I have also fallen asleep on the floor and particularly when I am dgtting up in the morning I have been unsteady on my feet.

Ohhh no you take powerful tablets but why? Be careful friend more tablet is not good only for sleeping. Yes in hospital maximum time bed is not available and that time we can sleep on the floor but not without mattress or carpet. Thanks for sharing your view.

Hello surekha,
I don't sleep on floor but on a bed.
But i can sleep on floor if i get in such a situation. In summer we at home lye on floor as it remains cooler and get bit of relief in summer. So i can imagine its not that tough to sleep on floor.
As Ravi i also can sleep anywhere. Normally my wife gets irritated that sometime she talks to me and in between i sleep and she just keeps on talking with walls.

I experienced sleeping on the floor when our house was being renovated. It was uncomfortable, but tolerable. I'd always prefer sleeping on a very comfortable bed. I love the beds in the hotel. The ones that are very soft, with fluffy pillows and comfortable blankets.

I've slept on the bare floor before, but it's not my first choice. I prefer a little padding for my old bones! But to each their own. I had a hard time finding a mattress firm enough when I had to buy one. They all seem to be too soft and that makes my back hurt.

If I have to I can sleep on the floor, I used to find it comfortable especially when I was already tired, but I can't sleep directly on it without feeling uncomfortable anymore. I need some sort of pillow or blanket or something that is comfortable to put under me before I can sleep on the floor.
I also toss and turn in my sleep anyway and so even a bed isn't always that comfortable for me.

Hi Surekharathi, we are all so comfortable these days that we cant imagine sleeping on floor, can we? :)
But we did have that kind of training in school. During retreats, and during guiding camps.
The idea was that we should survive however hard the situation turns out to be. Trust me it feels bad only on the first day. By the third day, we dont miss the bed.

Hi Surekha
Oh I can't sleep on any floor, I find it to be way too uncomfortable for me. I rather sleep sitting if I had to sleep on a floor. My back and sides would not be able to take the hard floor. I need a bed all the time in order to sleep comfortably.
I do know some people who do sleep well on the floor, but no matter how much I have tried, I simply can't.

Surekharathi..I can sleep pretty much anywhere and more in less in very awkward positions LoL.. Im abit funny like that I suppose..
However sleeping on the floor involves plenty of cushions/blankets for a soft comfy base(*personally*).. especially if the kids come over.. they just sprawl their blankets/cushions on the living room floor and thats 'base' for the night LoL..
Good Times!!! (",)
