Hello Friends :)
FAQs are quite important thing for a site. Its not for a show purpose.
Now this is what I see about RATING their :
What if I disagree with someone? Should I give that post a negative rating? And its Answer is : Absolutely No. Further you can see it here :www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx
Now for the first time I was reached to Leaderboard in one interest. And in just a week i went to top 70 from top 10.
And I checked it that I hadn't open any discussion in that interest since a month. And also only responded to only one discussion in last two week. And surely i never responded or discussed something that can impact negatively mylot community.
I guess I know in which discussion i got that negative stuff. May be that person did not like my response because i wasn't agree with him/her. Then is it mean that we should give suggestion that others like. No Independence.
Okay I should cut it off now. (other wise people will thinks that I am so much greedy that after having blue star still i am bragging all these
)
What you think about this friends.. I know mostly of all user used to use only + button. I am too. But still do you think people should give negative rating just because they don't agree with it ??

Of course they should not (-) rate because someone does not agree that is not how it is suppose to be used. If I am not mistaken akp, it is probably not that you are being negative rated but more that the others are being positive rated so they climb on the boards, I believe it to be this way. It can be both being neg rated and or just not being rated but others are, I think. lol
Try and not worry about the Leaderboards and in all honesty I have never looked to see if I escalated and or dropped on the Leaderboards to date. It is not something I strive for here and simply remain me and respond with the same effectiveness and enjoyment from day one.

You are quite true on that.. And honestly I am not that worried too. It was just because i see myself first time their. So got exited little.
About others climbing.. Thats good that other are doing well. But Do you think i can go to 75 from 8 just because others are doing well.
I don't know about it. I loose 1 in star rating too. So i thought it is because of some - rating.
But its true that i should not worried about it more. Thanks.

Yes if your percentage in your star dropped then yes some could be neg rating. 
From 75 to 8 was that overnight? I have not really taken a look at the leaderboards so not sure how fast they do change but would seem that if it is overnight something is not right.

akp you already answered your own question but yes I will also answer it as its so important. no mylot admins says no n ever rate someone negatively just because he or she had or has a different opinion than
yours. we are to respect each o thers rights to h ave our own
opinions so we will often find others having a different opinion
than ours. that is no reason to minus anyone. minus only if the
response does not help the discussion and has no bearing on it a t all or is insulting or flaming.Too many newcomers never have read mylot admins wanring not to hit minus just because you disagree with someone else's opinion at all. I seldom minus anyone asif its bad enough to minus it needs to be reported instead.WE ALL HAVE RIGHTS TO OUR OWN OPINOIONS
AND MUST NOT BE MINUSED BECAUSE WE DISAGREE WITH OTHERS.

I have seen at least one user with very low rating because s/he uses very strong words and is always very argumentative in his/her discussion, I think s/he has earned much dislike and thus many people gave (-). To my understanding, the discussion didn't flout any rules but I guess that person's opinion irked many people, thus the negative rating. So, my question is, do those people give (-) because they do not agree or because they were irritated?

I guess no two people can be same. And about me i never irritates friends here by my strong words or unnecessary stuffs.
So yes some people can gets negative rating because of their writing... But that again they really not deserves negative rating because of their hard words unless they are breaking guidelines. In any case I am not coming in either.... Still i am getting negative ratings.. And I guess it is because of disagree on my response.

Hello Akp,
I'm afraid there are users who abuse the minus button. It would be fine if they just respected the rules of DRS. But, as you noticed, there are some users who follow what they think are their enemies everywhere. I fell from 4 to 7 in only one day when I disturbed that plagiarist. She must had many friends that helped her take me down three positions on the dogs leaderboard.
Still, there may be an explanation for your drop from 10 to 70. Maybe other myLotters were positively rated while you weren't active into that topic. Could it be possible?

If we were talking about going up with your ranking, it wouldn't be possible.
But those who do the negative rating as a hobby are so tenacious that with them everything is possible.
Too bad that they don't know they harm their own reputation by negging somebody with so much obstinacy.
What was the interest where you got from 8 to 70 in one night?

Friend I face this problem and I also not understand how is happen. Day before yesterday my rating is 92 and when I checked at night my rating is reduced 92 to 91 so I cant understand I not posted any comment or not open my lappi then how it is happen. Really negative marking is not need. If the person is not like you discussion then they left it or write comment to you they are not agree on your discussion but negative marking. I never use it but I used positive marking not for all but those response good and meaningful.

Its sad that many of the users don't think before giving (-) rating to others as they feel if the person don't agree with them is wrong and (-) rate them which is totally a wrong concept as there can always be a difference of opinions which only makes the discussion more interesting.Akp i also see fluctuation in my interest rating daily as sometime it slips which it most of time and sometime it jump but i take it very normally and always took it as a challenge to raise my ranking.

No, negative ratings are not meant to be used that way and everyone has the right to their own opinion whether you agree with them or disagree with them.
The entire time I have been here on myLot I have only given one negative rating. That was to a post that should never have been placed on this web site because it was violating several of the faqs with its content and it was deleted from the site shortly after I posted the negative rating.
If the post is a really good one, well written and to the point; I give a + rating. If it does not make the grade and qualify for a + , I do not rate it all.

I don't believe we should even have a negative button at all, due to the fact that petty people use it because they don't like someone's discussion, post, comment, etc. I think there should only be a + button and the more + you receive, the better your rating. If you have postings reported for harrassment, plaigarism, etc, then you would consequently lose a bit of your rating but only if the post was actually deemed by admin to be harrassment or plaigarism and thus removed from view of the community.
I was away from here for awhile so I really haven't noticed a lot of up and down regarding my star, I don't pay much attention to it at all. There was a point in time when it was blue but I post in politics and religion, and those are two interest areas where there are a LOT of petty people who rate down simply because they do not like your opinion.

That's too bad that you also got negative rating because someone didn't like your opinion.
Even i thinks that there is no need of - button. I mean if someone is doing some negative stuff then we can report it via ! button directly to admin. But still its a mylot choice.
