Storms - when earth and sky engage in passions fueled by violent energy. Thunder, lightning, and in some cases, drastic wind and water action are all present during a storm. Personally, I enjoy thunderstorms. Outside becomes dark and dramatic - thunder rolls and reveals a might power. Lightning is just plain cool - as long as it doesn't strike something living. Overall, I enjoy the power that comes in a storm. However, I do fear being outside during a storm. Facing all of that power with no protection? Nooooo thanks. What about you? What do you like or dislike most about storms?

I enjoy storms also but like you I wouldn't want to be stuck outside in one. I like sitting by a fire reading a really good book while a storm is happening. I also like when the lights go out, that's the only time it is enjoyable to only use candlelight. =)

I think getting struck by lightening would have to be the worst. I think people say lightening never strikes in the same place so you sre safe if you change your location or make sure you aere not in contact with any m,etal. (This may include watches so be creful). If possible to to stay indoors annd you may even enjoy it that way.

As long as I'm at home, and can watch what's happening from the inside of my house ... I'm fine. A storm is dynamic, powerful and commanding; just as snow is serene, delicate and enchanting; rain however, is quiet, calming and relaxing. But I am getting away from the topic at hand, what I fear most are trees that fall during a storm. There never is much warning. And if you are on the road and in the path of a falling tree ... then that could lead to a huge problem.

I forgot about the trees! It does them they have an excellent sense of timing to. Something I am also scared of is fallen telephone wires. :S

I do not like storms when the people I love are out in them, but when I know they are safe in their homes I enjoy the storms and often sleep by them. It's a peaceful and relaxing sound for the most part. There are times when they are very loud and that scares me a great deal. At these times I usually end up staying up and hoping that the storm won't last very ong.

I feel the same way. Some mild to heavy rain is fine - with some thunder or lightning in the distance. Where I live it hails sometime. I HATE hail - its cold and hard and does absurd damage to houses and cars. Not to mention hail sounds like mini-bombs attacking your house in the heavier storms.

Storms are nice to look at, or least when you're safe inside your home. Like many people I would imagine, I'm not particularly fond of getting stuck in a storm. I've always enjoyed thunderstorms. As a kid, I would sometimes sit on the front porch with my dad, and just watch the thunderstorm. I still like them. I don't know why I like them so much. For one reason or another, I just do.

It does seem the dangerous holds a mysterious magnetism for humankind - as long as we are safe while viewing. :)

I don't like storms because of the destruction that it brings to property and life. We always have to expect the worst and hope for the best whenever there's a storm. I only feel good about storms because of the cool weather and rain that it brings.

It is amazing how something like a storm can be healing (rain) or destruction (wind and lightning) to the land and people.

storms!! my biggest passion. i am a weather fan living in Israel near the mediterenean sea and we have some stormy days every year (sea is hot , air is cold). when we have storms i get excited, taking my camera and making videos of it... i don't want it to stop. this is my first hobby in life and storm is the best interesting thing in my hobby. in storms i like the quick changing, the darkness, all this power in the sky, the noises and the fact that my country will have more water ( we have shortage in water) i just don't like the break in electricity ( well, sometimes i do because it's a good excuse not to do anything....) in a storm time i just hope that animals will find a good and safe place to stay.

You're right. I forgot to mention about the animals. I do worry about them as well. There were stray cats in our neighborhood, and cows and goats being tied to trees in the forest. (I live in a mountainous area)I also worry about them when there's a storm, especially the goats, they don't like getting wet. I always hear them crying from a distance.

yes. many of us tend to forget the animals but they have life and soul like we do. the person who owns those animals has to take care of them.

I love watching the lightning but I hate the thunder. It always seems to wake me up in the middle of the night and when it catches me off guard I scream. Sadly my daughter I guess inherited this trait because I've heard stories of her husband waking up with nail marks in his back after a storm because she just latches on and squeezes. That's how scared she gets. And yes she's twenty and I'm forty-seven lol.

Wow - that's pretty extreme? Nail scratches, huh? I hope that doesn't get passed on if you have grandchildren. :)

I like storms. It's so comfy to cuddle up in my bed and watch tv or dvds all day long. I feel very comfortable, peaceful even during storms. I just let the rain lash out outside while I lay safely inside the house. I don't like storms if I get caught on it, when I'm still outside on the way to work or on the way home. I get my feet wet, my clothes wet and it's so cold with the clothes clinging to you for hours. There'll be crazy traffic and lots of people with umbrellas hitting each other. I fear being poked in the eye by an umbrella. I've never really experienced first hand a disastrous storm. The worst I've had was a billboard about to fall, and we've just found that out in the morning after the storm. Oh yeah, there's the flood that sometimes enters the house. It's not very high though, barely a half inch from the floor, but a nuisance just the same.

I love how the storm makes me feel connected to nature by bringing my attention to it. I love the sounds of the thunder, wind, and the rain tapping on the roof. I also like how it reminds us that we are not above nature. It seems that humans often think they are. It depends on the storm whether or not I would want to be in it. If it is not too severe and it's a little warm, then I like to be outside, but if there is too much lightning, that can be scary and I don't like being in strong winds. Sometimes storms crash our plans, so that's no fun. Storms do clean the air, however, and as a person with allergies, this is very nice. I love being able to actually breathe. I also really, really love the smell of rain (usually) and rainbows are awesome of course. :)

You covered all of the benefits up there! I never thought about the cleaning aspect. Rain isn't always fun but imagine where we would be without it?

I am like you. I love the storms. I love the rain. I love the aura that comes over the earth when it storms. It's the best time to make love and become intimate, although, I could in any weather, but I like storms best when it comes to that. I don't even mind being out in it. There is a "freeness" I experience when doing so. When the kids were little we use to go out and play in the rain. I am just getting settled, but I can't wait for a good drench day to take my four year old out in it. She's a little "nice nasty" so I don't know if she'll like it, but I love it.

I used to love storms, and i really appreciate the power behind them. What I really like about storms is the cool that normally comes after. I like watching the lightning. I really do not like the destruction that comes along with storms.

I love when the rain and sit with us. Have a little peace and simply enjoy your home and outside it that is loud and dark to dark rumble and even when I was warm and pleasant. I love being with loved and feel safe and loved. But I prefer to have more warm weather and not have constant rain. Yet this time. interesting discussion. Have a nice day!

I love the rain. I just love the sound of it on the windows and rooftop. It's so relaxing. I don't like the thunder and lighting because the thunder scares me with the big booms. It also scares my cat she is such a chicken all time with a storm she will go run and hide under the covers lol.

I think it is rare cat that can brave the blasts of sound and flashes of light. ;) Rain does have a healing affect, but thunder is a bit more forward.

I enjoy storms because it shows me how powerful nature is and how amazing it is. It also shows me how humans cannot control it and it awes me. But I do not like being in it as you said and I don't like the loud noises it makes. I also don't like it if it causes damage to things.

I enjoy rain storms as long as there's not a lot of wind. The sound of wind really scares me.

I also like storms, although I perfer to be indoors during them. I like it when you can see flashes of lightening. The rumbles of the thunder are exciting for me and I enjoy the terential rainfall like an Indian Tsunami.

Yes, I hate being in the open when caught in the rain and thunderstorm. Most especially if I still have to travel and I'm soaking wet. And when I'm the only tallest object around and lightning is flashing all around. I fear I would be hit by lightning. I will immediately run for cover. But there are things that I love too about rain with thunderstorm - the awareness that that rain would be good for the plants because of the nitrogen that gets attached to the raindrops from the action of the lightning. Also, when there is only lightning and thunder nearby, and no rain, the anticipation that mushrooms will grow nearby 2 or 3 days after a rainless thunderstorm. In the rural area in Davao City where I grew up, we - we were children then - would organize ourselves to find and collect these mushrooms. Once I happened to be looking at a tree at exactly the split second it was hit by lightning. This was in Makilala, North Cotabato long ago when I was still organizing farmers. It was an awesome sight. The tree was left standing but I don't know if it survived the lightning strike.

We sometimes have lightning without rain here in the summer. I'm terrified of fire. If it were not for that, I'd love the dramatic beauty of a thunderstorm. And as you say, the power of nature is impressive. Do you have a lot of thunder storms where you live?

Being used to having rains from my country's tropical weather, I don't really love rainy days. And I also have fear with storms. I fear a windy storm and a storm of tremendous rains. I have fear that it will take off the ceiling or have damage in our house. I also fear the sound of thunder storms, and I am scared of lightning flashes... ... but I do remember that I used to love stormy days too... back when I was still a student, sometimes I prayed that it would rain on the day of a big exam or recitation... those were the only days I loved storms... when it caused a class being cancelled. :P
