Today, the world is not perfect. It is plagued by many problems that are often quite hard to solve. However, we can't face all of these at the same time, so in your opinion, what would be the world's biggest problem right now? Drug abuse? Violence? Racism? Disease? Starvation? War? Poverty? Is it something else? Please support your reasoning.

I think the economy will be the ultimate undoing of the world. All nations are so interlinked now that whenever something affects one, it affects all. If the economy is hurting those of us in the developed nations, it will surely hurt those who are living elsewhere.

A lack of prosperity. There are far to many poor in the world. If people have their basic needs met comfortably, there is more likely to be stability and thus a decrease in the problems like poverty, war, violence etc. When people lack the resources to met the bare essentials of survival, it is then they become prone to negative outbursts, like war and general violence, in order to survive and as an outlet for anger. Look at rich countries, like Japan, the United States, and several [not all] countries in Europe. In these places, people may be strained a bit, but most still have food and and an absence of series disease (like typhoid or smallpox). In these countries we see the occasional small time riot, but not reoccurring civil wars. When people are able to meet their basic needs, they are less likely to get involved with actual hand to hand violence. For one, there isn't a need to since they can provide for themselves and two, the people do not want to jeopardize their comfortable lives. Now if you look at poor countries - several countries in Africa, the rural parts of India, Somalia etc, it is here you find violence and in some cases ongoing civil wars.

For me, I never worry about anything of these things. They all tend to work themselves out in my opinion. I don't feel I can do much about it accept my small part of teaching those around me about positive behaviors. Most things we fight against we get more of. The focus is in the wrong area. For example if you want to end the violence, have a peace rally. Not a war against violence. I just don't think fighting against something will make it go away. It's all in where the focus lies.

for me it's the poverty. it is the root of every problem that our world had been continually solving. Food starvation, lack of jobs, etc. those are the examples of miseries which are obtained due to the poverty existing in our society. what the governtment need to do is to kill poverty. though it is a hard time surpassing this problem. well, we should not just hope for the government to solve the problem. we should also do our part for the sake of everyone.

Dont you think poverty is due to increasing population?

Well, increasing population IS a factor, but I think there's more. I guess the history of the country also affects poverty. Well, by a far stretch, poor education, loss of jobs, and lack of clean, proper access to food and water might also have a part in poverty.

The world today is much better than before, even unbelivable! I think that's the biggest problem. The technology develops too fast.Think about 2012.Better the world be,quicker it will be destroy.

Well, it was just by chance that we evolved from monkeys. That definitely has both positive and negative impacts on the modern human. Still, we can somehow progress smarter without all the extra pollution. Plus, 2012 is NOT going to happen. It's just the end of a calendar that nobody I know uses anymore. Besides, what's the chance of earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions spontaneously erupting at the same time, bringing the human species to a screeching halt?

Me alone, would not be able to tackle all the problems that are facing our planet. However, if each one of us became involved in a cause [any cause] then we could make a difference. If you were torn over the plight of abused children; or violence against women; or endangered animal species ... find out what can be done and volunteer your services. If we all do something, we can make a difference. Me ... my biggest concern is 'saving our planet for our children'!

Hi foxontherails, I think the world's biggest problems are due to human mind polluting. Starting from Environment pollution to what ever the end may be(politics,violence,racism,starvation....), human deeds for extra comfortness polluted in every aspect. Mind must change and think "live and let live".

I think the world's biggest problem now and ever will be the non-awareness among people. If the people were having all the knowledge and awareness then all the problems will get solved automatically. They say that there is pollution but if people knew about the hazards of the pollution and if they all cared about it then it wouldn't be there. There is population, again if everyone cared then it wouldn't be like this. There is a need of a proper awareness among the people so that they truly understand these problems and I am sure everyone will be ready to fight it.

Lack of humanity in human beings has caused over selfishness and tendency of ignoring others which has widened the gap between rich and poor. This also has caused the increasing population and stiff competition challenging survival of individuals and the Nations against each other. Of course Humanitarian approach has the solution. People need to understand care for others. The world still has more than enough resources to nurture the mankind provided we stop misusing it.
