What should I buy?

I am thinking of buying a few products from Mac makeup. It is expensive but I figure since it is so pricey it is a great product. But what do I know. I have never used it and I am wondering is it really worth paying so much or are brands like Cover Girl just as good? I don't want to spend so much if it's not worth it in the end.

I rarely use expensive make up. I use cheaper brands that I purchase at local beauty stores. The eyeliners and lipsticks that I buy cost about $1-3. They look great so I see no reason to buy something more pricey.
I buy Cover Girl powder and eyeshadow but only when it's on sale.
There might be some situations where the higher the price is, the better the value. Like with the long-lasting lipsticks. But I haven't tried any of those because they don't have any shades I like.
But with a brand like Mac, I think it's just expensive because of the name. Personally, I don't think it's worth it at all.

really that depends what sort of make up you tend to wear.
I always use their Russian Red lipstick.
the lipstick works out very good value as you don't need to reapply very often, and lasts ages. it's very good quality.
if you like eyeshadow, try their eyeshadow loose pigments. the colours are brilliant, a tiny bit goes a long way, and again, the staying power is excellent.
I've tried their foundations, but I couldn't get a good match to my skin. they were all too dark. the texture seems good though.
and I love their high factor sunblock primer. it's great even without foundation on top. much less greasy than most facial sunblocks.
