English is widely used now in the world and it is becoming the essential tool no matter in business or others.I like studying English, but the biggest problem to me is the oral skill, since we lack the environment to speak English everyday. So do you have a good method to improve spoken English?

For me, its READ, WATCH, and SPEAK ENGLISH. That's how one can improve his/her English. Read means, to read books, novels, magazines, etc that are in English; Watch means, to watch English movies, and to Speak is to apply what you have learned by practicing it,it may be through writing or speaking. Keep it up!

It's better to have a partner to practice your English skills. Talk what's inside you using the English as the medium of communication. Throughout the daily conversation, you'll gain confidence and experience. Listening and studying alone is not really that helpful, by speaking it , you learn new knowledge that can't be exactly explain by the book of grammars, pronunciations and etc. Application is still the best way to be an effective English speaker.

Nice to see you again. You are right, practice alone is not a good way for improvement. But I can hardly find people besides me to help me,They are all busy on doing experiments or job and don't have to learn english now.So what I have to do is to find the way of application.
Thanks.

Good day EthanWan,
There are a lot of ways on how to improve english speaking.
Maybe you can start it, first, try to watch more of english movies, as this will help you grasp the pronounciation and diction of each word. As there are some english words with silent letters on it. Second, try to have a conversation using english words. So, you can practice to pronounce those words by yourself. And lastly, you can also buy a CD tutorial on how to use those english words which is not very common to all. As there are some words with deeper meaning.
With those measures mentioned above be taken religiously will truly a big help in improving your english speaking.
Have a great day.

Reading newspapers, magazines and books in English are only a part to build up your English knowledge. Reading will help you to add up your vocabulary and to fit you in the part of the grammar, how to build sentences and so on. Another part is watching news and movies on TV, as you will practice the part of the listening. It's important to use all your sense like your eyes and your ears. But another, a third important point, is the practice. You should try to get someone you can practise conversation in English with.
In my case, I had chance to speak with many english people, so I can practise what I've already learnt, I can ask directly what I don't understand and also learn new words and expressions.
The practise is very important. I new a person who studied a language for several years, new the whole grammar and a lot of vocabulary, but when this person had to talk, he got mute.

Thank you.In fact, that's the biggest problem to me.There is few people besides me can help me to improve my spoken English, since I have no chance to speak with english people like you.And what you described is exact.I am in the same situation that I have difficulty to speak out in english. Now I am preparing for the coming interview,I am very worried about this.Actually I practiced everyday, but I am not confident because of lacking the talks with english people.

You said it !!! The language environment is the key to improve one's oral English ,which is proved by some oversea celebrities.Yao Ming is a good example .Before landing Houseton ,he could barely speak English .And because of that ,Yao hired an interpretor to help him out .As you know ,he has to attend the press after the game ,where all journalists asked in English .Even though Yao didn't get much language trainning in his hometown ,one year later ,he was able to answer reporters'question humorously and chatted with his team players .So he fired his interpretor .From Yao ,we can understand the importance of language environment for an English leaner .Since it is not available for everyone to go abroad ,we have to try our best to simulate a English environment with the help of Internet .Millions of English speakers chat online with MSN or Yahoo Talk .Thus ,it can't be more unreasonable for us to complain about it .What are you waiting for ?Just download a MSN and chat with your foreign friends !!

Hi friend, i know a lot of my friends who wants to learn english or improve their english communication skills just as what you want. Learning english is never such a great fuss since, you have lots of stuff out there from where, you could gradually improve your vocabulary and english language.
One best medium is to read english newspapers or other magazines. They are a great resource since, after consistent reading of those say, for a month or two, you would probably find yourselves more good at communicating or speaking in english than before.
Another means is to watch english movies. Although it would be a bit hard to grasp what those people say, with, continued exposure to such films, you could slowly understand what they mean and eventually improve your language too.

so i think it`s not easy to learn english

Watch more of English - speaking movies, and television. Practice your communication daily, even when you want to say something in your native tongue, try to translate it into ENGLISH. Through day and night practice, you might be able to speak fluent English yourself. Good luck!

I think the most effective one of polishing your English oral is to stay in an English speaking country and try to find a job or join an English course there. Therefore, you can speak English every day. I found this very useful after studying in the UK for 2 years. However, if you cannot stay in an English speaking country, you can always switch your TV to the English news channel because they usually hire native English speaking reporters. This can also help you to improve your English acent as well as your English listening because the native speaks much faster and more fluently than we do.

Which country do you belong to? One thing you must remember that practice makes a man perfect. So you have to always speak in English, otherwise no technique can help you.

One effective method I can share is through watching movies with English as the primary medium of conversation. Observe how they speak, the pronunciations, enunciations, expressions, and other stuffs. Also, try making speeches/ narratives/ stories and read them aloud as if you are retelling it to other people.

Practice it everyday even at home. Encourage everybody inside the house to communicate in English. Watch English movies and read a lot of books. If you have extra money, you can attend workshops to improve your skills.
