Facebook Games Steal Lives

I swear Facebook games steal people's lives. We spend all this time on our farms or war games and never get a moment to breath and to live our life in first person. Instead we are on games and letting our lives pass us by. I swear someday someone will sue facebook for making them fat cause of there games. Even thou we have a choice to play them or not I"m sure someone will. So what do you think? Is it true that Facebook Games steal lives?

I use to be so addicted to Farmville! I don't know how or why I finally stopped! I think those games are such a waste of precious time! I got my mom playing them a while back and she still plays them to this day! Once in a while I will play something like Farkle or who wants to be a millionaire on Facebook...but nothing like hose virtual games do I play anymore!

I think Facebook games can really consume your time. I played around 3 games in Facebook and I swear, I wasted a lot of time using it. I don't play these games anymore because I get nothing out of it.

Hi neededhope! I agree. Facebook games really do steal lives, well, at least a part of it. I was a Facebook game addict before. I played Farmville, Vampire Wars and Sorority Life. I spent hours in the computer playing those games! I seldom went outside to enjoy fresh air and play games with my niece and nephew. Luckily, I grew tired of it. One by one I left them. First was sorority life, then vampire wars and then, the farm. I am really happy I don't play those games anymore. I have more time in more important things. Aside from spending more time in the outside world, now I even think, it's better to myLot than to play those games. Games are good if they are played in spare time, not all the time.

I used to play all those and I finally quit. I play two or three as breaks from my regular online writing. It is our choice whether we sign in, play or participate in anyway. They aren't brainwashing us or making us play. I enjoy it. I get tired of it though and move on. It gives me time to recollect my thoughts before I go back to work.

Yes, I are totally agree with you- games, not just facebook games, but all games and the internet itself- it sucks the time out of our lives. They are just so addicting and we just waste our time and money playing those. We should focus more on the real things, like our family and work.

erm. i am partial agree with your statement. Indeed, we spend a lot of our time sitting in front of computer and play Facebook applications. However, i do think it's kind of stress releasing especially after a long day working or studying. As a student, i personally do think that it helps a lot when i am under stress. Since i can't work during stress period, why don't i try to do something that can relax my mind? That's just my piece of opinion, have a good day!! )

I think that most of those people would just have watched tv all the time instead. So what is best? Well, actually i think Facebook is better than watching tv, cause there is still a social aspect in what you are doing. But i don't spend my time on those hands myself. I think they are boring, and actually i am just tired of getting invited to the games all the time. I don't think it ruins peoples lives, but i think its ruined Facebook.

I think people choose to play Facebook Games and can play whatever length of time they want to each day. People can get just as addicted to offline games. My husband is addicted to several offline games that he plays every day.

I think that the games are fun and yeah time consuming. But I also think it depends on the person. I am always on the "ville" games but my daughter though she is on them only spends maybe a few times a day on them. She has other things to do and a husband to spend time with. Me on the other hand since having moved down to Tennesse, my daughter and her husband are not down here yet so I have tons of time with my husband and we go out and do things. I just find myself on the computer when we come home. I think I spend about 5 hours on there my daughter might spend about 2 or 3.

Well let's just say I could be earning a lot more online if I didn't have to switch to the game I'm playing now every few minutes. I agree we spend too much time on facebook playing games, and it really ruins our lives. It's an addiction and I don't doubt that someone will sue facebook one day for causing them to become fatter. It's no one's fault but there own, it's our choice to stay on and play the games. I'm playing cupcake corner and it's a really fun game to play, before that it was monopoly I was addicted to, just addiction after addiction of games!

Well I am sorry but certainly those people who allows Facebook Games or even Facebook itself to steal their lives are not wise. Yes! And since they are not wise they are foolish! How could they be wise if they are wasting time. Time is precious as gold. If you waste your gold then you are foolish so people who waste their time at FB are just as foolish.

Dear friend, at the moment I am busy with 3 games on Facebook and I guarantee you that they are not stealing the time of my life as I play with pleasure. Of course I do not spend money on extra bonus, but I guarantee you that I enjoy too, so I'm sorry but I am not agree with you.

I remember a National News story on this last year, specifically about Farmville, I think, but it covered all games like that. I see the same thing happening to the teenagers in this house only with X-Box 360 games. I think whenever humans find small "universes" that allow them a level of control that is so much easier than living their lives and dealing with real world issues, humans tend to retreat into those worlds. In this sense, it is not Facebook games "stealing" lives, but people voluntarily giving themselves over. Sort of the debate over wether the Devil is corrupting people or wether they were already corrupt and the Devil just brings it out. Yes, I somehow managed to bring the Devil into this. I'm sure he appreciates all the souls he now gains from Facebook!

I think people need to just get up and off, let go of things that keep them chained to a computer, and go hangout with everyone they can. Technology itself has completely depersonalized all of us, and because of it many social activities so easily go wrong. You can't talk to someone, or really even feel like you've had a good day, if you stay on a computer or phone all day. We all just need to get up and go do things the old-fashioned way; no more ridiculous technology that just makes things hard to understand. But Facebook is a huge contributor to people not doing anything, and people using such a terrible medium of technology. The games make it worse, and the games are stupid, very stupid. Why do you really need to keep up some imaginary stupid farm? It doesn't get you anywhere, and there is no way that when you get done playing you feel accomplished like you just helped yourself out in life. We all need to take a stand, though, for ourselves; big companies look for money will continue to look for and make money. Stopping there services for the better of people, doesn't make money.

I do tend to kind of agree with you. I used to be on Restaurant City all the time. Always wanted to get ahead of my friends on that game and have the better Restaurant. I think at the time I needed some kind of escapism (had financial & medical problems). And it did kind of relax me and helped me to think of other things besides my problems. But now I do think what a waste to spend that much time on a game. I am getting so much more done at home now that I no longer play the games. I do Farkle once in a great while but nothing as addicting at Restaurant City or Cityville. I agree with your thought about letting our lives pass us by. We should be out enjoying life instead of spending hours and hours playing a game.

I think Facebook games are designed to be so attractive that the players get involved in them as if the action taking place in those games were real, and unfortunately there are many other online games which cause addiction.Luckily I didn't fall into the trap of spending long and useless hours playing these games because I discovered more interesting and useful ways of spending my time online, such as Mylot.Anyway, people who might sue Facebook in the future should not win because nobody forces them to play those games,it is their choice and they are responsible for what they do to themselves;Facebook just offers them another entertainment option,it is they fault if they abuse it.

To say that they steal their lives would imply that they are not given the choice to play them or not. When someone wastes their time playing facebook games on the computer instead of doing anything else, they are choosing to do that. It's no one's fault but their own.

i completely agree. everyone spends so much time on the fb games they don't realize what is really happening in their lives. if fb games were discontinued, i think many people would live happier lives.
