Treat dogs as our kids

Many years ago, I met an old gentleman on the internet. He asked me if I would like to see the pictures of his daughters. I said "yes". To my surprise, they are pictures of two dogs. 6 years ago, I got my own dog too. With time going, I realize he is not only a friend, but also a kid of our family. Do you agree with me?

Most of us dog lovers will agree that dogs do indeed become part of the family. Like our children since it is our responsibility to care for them and teach them how to interact with other humans and other dogs. I was a dog owner for most of my life until my last little one passed away from old age. I decided not to own any more since her lost was quite difficult. Dogs have a way of finding a way into our hearts.

Thank you. My little Cutie, that was her name. A pure white Yorkie mix. Went to doggie heaven I know. She brought only happiness into this world. Enjoy Guaiguai while you have it. There will be a hole left in the heart after Guiguai is gone. God Bless you all, Guaiguai too. lol

I know we should treat our pet well,on the other hand, they bring more happiness to us,yes to this world. When I was a little boy,I did not have such feeling, but now I know we should treat everything well, we should enjoy our life.

I am sorry to hear that your last dog left you. I have the same feeling. Sometimes I said to my wife and daughter, some day, Guaiguai (my dog's name) will leave us, we must feel very heart-struck. Like you said, dogs know how to come into our hearts.

Definitely yes! Is this a picture of your dog? He is so lovely. I have two dogs, one of them is similar with yours named Dudu, a boy, 11 years old,and the other is Labrador named Emma, a girl, 8 years old. I really love them. They are lovely, clever, obedient, sometimes are naughty. I figure when we take them to home, we have to look after them for their whole life, it's our responsibility.:)

Hi, Veravivi, Yes, it is picture of my dog. My dog is not famous one, but he is very smart. Every morning when I take him out, he always holds a bag of rubbish and follows me. When I come home after work, he always holds my shoes and sits in front of the door to wait for me. Isn't that very interesting. By the way, I noticed that you are in China, I am from Tianjin. I enter Mylot for improving my English. ok, feel free to keep in touch with me. my mail address: nevergvup@163.com

Yeah, I'm living in Shanghai. Your dog is so sweet, I like him. Dog is our best friend. Remember to keep a leash on your dog in the public spaces. I saw many people lost their dogs these days, these dogs must have been in dangerous. You can see these messages in "sina weibo", do you know it? and transmit these messages to other people. More people recieve the messages, more opportunities the owners can find their lost dogs back.

I have had many dogs. I train dogs and had a small kennel of Bouviers, plus, many dogs before that. They are our kids, we train them, spend alottttt of time with them and they are with us most of the time. They to me are more than dogs, or friends..

Sometimes,I am thinking: when I am old,I will have some dogs in the countryside(you know in our city, big kind of dogs is forbidden to have),living quietly. I love dogs very much from my childhood. Agree with you, they are good friends.

Definitely! And not only with dogs but with any kind of pet. We treat our pets as part of our family. I have a lot of cats and we treat them as our kids. And even though it tires us sometimes to take care of them, never would I think of abandoning them or leaving them somewhere because they are my family :) Animals are like humans too you know, only they can't talk and that they have a different manner of living :)

They understand us and have found a way how to enter our heart, though they can not talk. I often talk to my dog, after repeating some times,I think he know my meaning. He can follow my words. For example, when I feed him,I will say to him:take your bowl here, dinner is ready. He will hold his bowl and come quickly. How funny it is!

Yes, I do. I totally agree with you. I got my first puppy long before I had borne my little girl. They said that the pointy tip of the teeth needs to be trimmed with a nail cutter so that it will not be very sharp when she gets older. So I let my midwife aunt to do it. She screamed and she ran and hid even away from me that she wouldn't even come near me. I was on my way to school and while I was commuting I suddenly felt this hurt for her and thought that I'd rather be the one hurt. It was the same thing parents would say if their children got hurt. I was really very worried. The I knew that I was treating her like my own kid.

Dogs have feeling and emotion too. to their master, they are always loyal. Sometimes I beat him because he is naughty or does something wrong. In my heart,he is a member of my family. If he leaves us a few days for some reason,we can not help miss him immediately.

I think pets are very much members of the family. As long as people aren't treating them better than they do their human children, I see no harm in thinking of them that way. So do you carry your dog's picture in your wallet?

No, I have no any picture in my wallet. but I have some photos on my desk in my office. You see, this picture is of my dog.

Sorry dear, although I believe every one can believe what he believes is right that does not mean I can always agree with every one's belief. So regarding your treatment to your dogs I would say that is your prerogative but I can't agree with you. Dogs are animals and I am human so I can't consider them as my kids. But I do have dogs and I treat them very kindly being my pets, nevertheless there is always a boundary between human and animals in my household.

Hi,Salonga, Thank you for your response. I agree that there is a boundary between human and animals. We just treat them in some way, make them be healthy, happy, they will be a part of our lives. Most of time, they bring us some enjoyment.

I agree. A dpg is a kid to a family. Dogs are not as smart as human, but they do have attachment to us. I got my dog 4 years ago, and now everyone in my family sees her as a family member. Once in a while the dog had to leave us for a few days, and in those days without her wagging her tail and barking and lying beside us when sitting on sofa and watching TV, mom always looked unhappy and I was uninterested in most things.

Sometimes I have to leave my dog to my friend to look after, always when I go to pick him back. He often bark to me to express his dissatisfaction. I can understand his meaning: Why do you leave me alone?

Of course. Many people love their pets just like they love another member of their family, and for some people that's all the family they have.

It is so nice to know that there are people out there who treat their pets as their own kids. Pets need to be loved and cared for

Hi, there! I used to have a dog and I treat her as one of our family. I really loved taking care of her. I feed her, bath her and play with her. I hope everyone takes good care of their pets and treats them as one of their family. :) I believe, they have feelings too. They also get hurt when we neglect their presence.

Yes, our pets have feelings. They can see if you are happy, upset or angry. When I was unhappy, my dog often lies on the floor quietly. He will go around you and shake his tail when he feels you are happy. How funny he is!

I would most definitely agree with you. I have six dogs and all of them feel like my children. I love them all very much and treat them as best as I can. My doberman is a huge baby and has to sleep with me and my boyfriend and she will even come and tell on herself when she does something naughty, like pooping on the floor (which she doesn't do much, just an occasional accident). I really do love all of my dogs just like they are family though.

I like dogs from my rural childhood. The dogs were like friends of mine, but at that time, my family were very poor. The dogs could help us catch hares when we harvested in the field. Now our life grew better and better, my dog has been one of my family, my daughter likes him also, like her little brother. My dog is now 6 years old, I think he will have a happy life in my family.
