I was just wondering if anyone here on myLot, As a MyLot Member actually been able to write a book... whether it be a Novel, Children`s Book, Self-Helping / How-To Books, Literally ANY TYPE of Book out there.
I have always wondered this and wanted to come right out and simply just ask the question!
I would love to hear some stories, Regardless if you tried, But for some reason it just did not work out or if you were one of the few unknowns who were successfully able to write a book.
Either way, I give both of you loads of credit, Because after doing a small amount of researching online. Being able to have your Book Published sounds like one of the most difficult things to get done.
Now if your Paris Hilton that is an absolutely completely different story. Not only will her book sell loads upon of loads just because of the name "Paris Hilton", but of course most if not nearly all of them have Ghost Writers, Who literally do ALL of the work for her, and are lucky if their names are even mentioned in the book.
Being a Ghost Writer has to be such a hard job, Not only do you have to deal with people like Paris Hilton giving you orders and if you do not do what she says I am sure she can just make one phone call and have you fired.
I am sorry to rant, I just feel sorry to her previous ghost writers. I have even heard, Most of these ghost writers do 99.9% of the work and if they are even lucky get a small, VERY SMALL mention in the book.
Thanks For Reading this guys n gals and anything you can add would be awesome, I have said this before I really enjoy reading myLot writers because I know how smart some of you guys and gals truly are.
Thanks For Taking The Time to Read this Guys and Gals and if you have anything you would like to add I would be so happy to read it, Especially if you have a story or two
Truly Yours,
Lawrence

I have written a book. Writing a book for me is easy.. just need an inspiration and a good introduction and the rest is in your mind. At first I thought of writing a journal of what i do everyday. Then I realized I; was already writing a novel. Haha. I mean, a whole day of experience turns out to be 2-3 pages in one entry in my notebook and believe me, I my font size isn't big. While writing my one day experience crawls into my past then into my future then so on and so forth. I just think a "good" book would be something that makes a lot of sense and really catch the reader's interest.

I actually wrote a short story for children years back when I was working as a lay out artist and illustrator in a publishing company. I did the illustration as well,I wrote it for my bestfriend. Well, i actually included his name in the title. And then after a few years and after I transferred jobs(Im working now in a different publishing company), I found out that my previous company got my book published without even telling me. I heard that that it was marketed as a day care storybook. I haven't really seen it but one of these days i'll go there and get a copy.

Yes, I've written and published a book for kids. No sales at all. But that's not why I did it, anyway - it was really just for fun, which is why I self-published.
I've edited a book as well, am writing a proper one for myself and am currently ghostwriting one for someone else (which will be published some time this year, I think, as long as he gets his butt in gear and gives me the rest of the content to write up!).
Ghostwriting's not so bad. It's just like writing web content: it's out there and people read it, even though it doesn't have your name on it. But then there are different levels of ghosting, too: some folks just need someone to word things nicely (prettying-up their transcribed notes, listening to them and writing it, expanding on ideas that they've written down, that kind of thing) while others want to take the credit for someone else's creative work. The latter kind must be tough to do, I agree, which is why I do the former!!
I think if I'd had to ghostwrite Paris Hilton's book, it'd be a posthumous biography. I'd have strangled her if I'd had to sit in the same room as her for more than 5 minutes.

I write short stories in my native language. I have been published and translated into English in an anthology.
My short stories ar not best sellers, but then I´m not interested in that either. I write what I must write. I am not as interested in selling a book as I am of telling a story that want t b written. My stories are for grownups.

No I have just written articles that have been published. If you know of anyone trying to break into the market of writing a book, I may be able to make some connections though. My older sister writes Christian novels for teenagers. Her work has been published and she has a series out for young readers. My sister's work has also been published in the Chicken Soup for the soul books.

To be honest, I do want to write a book. I have started to do a bit of writing for it, started to do some research for it, and such. I haven't had anything published yet though. I do hope that I am able to finish a book and eventually publish it. It's something that I would like to do, it's something that I hope to do, but we'll just have to wait and see.

I am a freelance writer, and ghost writing is ridiculous. I won't do it any more. You get paid almost nothing, get no credit, and the buyer gets all the rights and can do whatever they want with your work while claiming it as their own.
Anyway, I haven't got a book published, but I have written over 40,000 words in a novel I am working on and am going to try to get it published when it is finished.

Did I ever write a book, I would tell the truth, I am not that smart though. If I can write a book, I definitely would focus on writing all day long, 7 days a week. But with all the bright idea and good thinking along on my head. I can't literally write a real book myself. Hopefully, I just want to make some good earning from mylot and other sites too.
