I wish I could go back in time...

We all have regrets at some point in life, and we can't help thinking about alternate endings and "what if's" in our lives. What if I didn't break her heart? What if I studied well in high school? What if I did better on the job interview last month? What if I didn't meet this person? What if I proposed to her first? What if I didn't runaway? What if I didn't use my money on just shopping and saved it? What if...?
We all have that "What if's" questions in life and that wish to go back in time. Have you ever wanted to go back in time and change all that? If you could go back in time and change anything, or prevent anything from happening, what would you change?

I had this feeling many times, but I guess I remain with the feeling. I don't know what I would change, but I guess all of my mistakes and failures have had an impact on what I am today, so probably I wouldn't change anything. We need to make mistakes in order to improve ourselves, so why should we want to change them?

Mistakes and failures are really part of our lives. Without them, we are not who we are today. So yes, why would we want to change? :) But I just wanted to know, "What if" you can go back in time for real? Haha!

i would start by what if you you made a right decision every move you make or every step you take, similarly we are perfect maker but we cannot perfect everything and anything we do because no one is perfect, but every moment are happen for a reason every matter have a solution and learn every experience that we face every day to mold what we are in the present of what we are now moreover we consider it as a sweet and sour of life that we live.

Yes I long to go back to the time my Mom carried water from the frozen creek through 4 foot snowbanks to heat it on the wood stove so we could have a bath on Saturday night in an iron tub on the kitchen floor. We had no running water, no electric lights or refrigerator, or bathroom because such things were not available at that time and place.
When we woke in the winter mornings there would be frost on the blankets over the bed. What a memorable time to be alive! Yes take me back to that wonderful time!

If I could go back in time, it would be to relive a great moment in time.
I go and see a local band that do lots of songs. When I go, it appears that time goes very quickly. I would like to go back to the time I celebrated my birthday. I was so happy that night. Even up on stage with the band shaking that tail feather. hehe. was so funny.
They are the times that I wish I could go back in time.

I will use the "Begin with the ending concept". according to this, we do not need the "what if" word, we just expect the future.

I try to reflect and discern all that I did during the day before I turn in to sleep. During the period of reflection, I ask myself the "what ifs" not in the sense of wishing to go back in time but rather in the sense of doing it better, if not faster, the next time around. My "what ifs" are intended to shape me up for the next day, even to fast-forward, if possible. I do have regrets but I don't want to go back. A better appreciation of what one has just undertaken and finished will show you immediately that you would not have experienced it if you had taken a different path in life. Adversity can also make you a better and stronger person, light years different from the original.

what if you went back in time. What if you didn't go back in time what would you've done? I believe we have these feelings of what ifs so we learn from our previous mistakes.

Yes,i did think about those "what if's"
Maybe if i will be given a chance to bring back the time,i want to bring the time where i never pursue my career.
I never regretted it thu,but if given a chance...i want to pursue my passion in arts and make the most of it.

Wow, we share the same passion in arts. And I'd love to back in time to really pursue it and follow my dreams. I'm somehow still following that dream of mine, but if I just started it sooner, maybe I could've achieved it already.

I have felt that a lot in life but have learned to live with it. And the good thing is the mistakes i've had done before have taught me a lot so now when I think of it, I think it's fine and I don't really wish to go back in time.

That is so true. What we are or what we have today wouldn't be the same if things in the past didn't happen, may it be good or bad. The bad things and the mistakes are also part of the present. It made us stronger and better, thus resulted to what we are today. :)

How has not wished to go back into the past and have a second chance? I tell you what I want to - go back to elementary school and change the brat I was. Back then I was a selfish, obnoxious, really unpleasant kid. I didn't care about people, I cared about me. I was also nasty and possessive with my friends. I would get infuriated if they hung out with someone else. At the time I thought I was fine - it was everyone else who was the problem. God, I want to go back there and slap myself good - no I want to chance myself to be the complete opposite of what I was.
I hurt a lot of people back then. From an early age I learned how to use my stubbornness to manipulate people into doing what I wanted. Again, I hurt a lot people. I only ended up biting myself in the rear to. I am glad to say that age has shone me the light. I wish I cold go back there and chance who I was. I wish I could undue the hurt I caused.

We really wish to change something at some point in our lives. Some people want to go back in time because we've done some mistakes and want to correct them. Some people on the other hand want to go back in time because of good memories they gained from that time and they want to relive it. I was also an unpleasant person at some point in my past, and I know I can't change it anymore. But what I know is that I can still prevent it from happening again in the future. :)

hello there pinkpiglet,
how is your week?
these "what if" questions are a bit depressing, i think. i seldom find myself asking the same question. what if dad is still alive? what if i took the cpa review and board exam? what if i pass? what if i fail?
there are also several instances or events in my life that i wish i can turn or go back to... like, i wish i didn't say those words to her, i wish i kept my cool, i wish i have done this instead...
these are all pointing to regrets. we cannot turn back time. that is why i love the saying that a minute wasted cannot be retrieved, so make the best out of life...
i hope you have a great day friend :)

My week is just awesome, so far. :) Thank you for asking and I must ask the same about you. :)
The "what if" questions are really depressing, and it something that we can't do anything about anyway. We know for a fact that we can't turn back time, so why hold grudges? I hope you have a great day too! :)

Well if i can go back in the past I would have study hard in highschool. I was so laid back at that time that i didnt study even if theres a test the next day. I would always depend on my instinct and luck in answering those questions. Even now in college im still a happy go lucky person.. I always skip class if i knew that there nothing much to do in there.. I wish i could go so that i could practice myself enjoy studying.
happy Mylotting :)

yeah, in high school studying is much simpler and fun but once you hit college all becomes complicated and hard. :)

I wish I could go back in my high school days again, just because it was so fun and things were simpler. They say high school is the best stage in youth life. Haha! I wish I could've been more active on school activities as well. :)

Just as you said,I also have many "what if's",especially for the mistake I have made in the past time.If I know something much earlier,it would be much better.I wish I could be more sensible when I was a child,so that my parents would be more easeful;I wish I could study harder when I was in the high school,so that I would get better scores;I wish ``` But everyone owns a process of growth. The mistakes, the experience, the failures consist of this process. What we have to do is to learn from the process, then we will not have so much"what if's"

I have plenty of "what if" questions in my head too. But I know for a fact that nothing can be undone. So I'll just deal with it and live in the present. The mistakes we've done can not be undone, but we can still prevent it from happening again in the future, right? :)

Hi, Pinkpiglet, I do not think we will have so many "what if". As we know, if we start to do now, nothing will be late. We could not return to the back. We can only obtain the present, so please forget the past and catch the present to do what we should do. Since they have been done wrong, make the change at once.

You're right that there's no way we can turn back the time and change the past. Let us focus on the present. And also, let's prepare for the future!

hi pinkpiglet love your avatar. lol I would go back to Sept of 2008 when my son was seeing that his pay was not keeping up with our rent and utilities and insist he look for a better job as the small company where he worked seemed about to go under. I would have insisted he find another job while there were a few for computer programmers that were still out there. if he had got a better job all of the horrid things that happened his getting laid off,our getting evicted, being homeless, being separated and me here in this very boring retirement center would never have happened so would go back to July of that year and see my son got a great new computer programmer job. This would have made our lives good again and haooy again. wish this could happen.

Hello.
Good day!
If I have to go back to the future, I will go in the time when I was studying in my high school. Back then, I am not studying well. Just like an easy go lucky person. If there's an examination, well, just good luck. If I passed, Ten thank you and if not, then better luck next time.
If I am going back to that time, I will study hard. Maybe if I study hard, I maybe become the valedictorian in our class.
Well, that has happened. pass is pass. We can't do nothing on it.

I guess you meant "go back to the past"? :)
I'd also love to go back to my high school days. Those days were simpler, and I'd want to do better on my studies too.

what if is a big synonym of regret, for me. but as you say we all have this part deep inside, i do and most of people i know do. but also can be depressive if you go deep in it we should use that what if just for tips to compare two different life style or parallel situation.
go back on time i usually don't think about that honestly cause i pretty much focus on what going to happen.

It is true that "what if" is synonymous to the word "regret, because once we start a sentence with "what if" regarding the past, in some way you're regretting it. I also love to focus on what's going to happen than what could have happened.
