With technology taking over, it seems like more and more book stores are closing down. The latest casualty is Borders Books and Waldenbooks. They failed to get a buyer and are closing all their stores. I enjoy reading, but to tell you the truth, I didn't go in Waldenbooks much because it was located in the mall and the lights in the mall give me a headache so I only went to the mall if I had to. Still, it was a nice little store and will be missed.

I guess we had to figure this would happen soon. Lots of people shop online now looking for bargains and finding them. Not to mention, the kindle is out now and stuff is being created for that now. I find it amazing that these stores stayed open all this time. What I want to know is where are they sending the surplus, LOL?? I'm sure they'll be some good bargains there.

We should try and find out what they are going to do with all that stuff in print. It's not like they can turn it back into a tree or something, lol...

Yes, it is a pity book stores closing down or moving to new locations. That happens where I live too. Very much miss those book stores. They have been doing their best to cary a broad variety of books, and people find it very helpful in finding their choices.

I loved Borders and was frequently there. But what can I say? That's what they get for trying to promote how great those stupid ereader things are. It was bad for business and they should have known that. Why would anyone come in the store and actually buy hard copy books when they can just get them downloaded onto a reader?

Yes our Borders here are gone as of last year. I had several near me and totally enjoyed going there from time to time to hang out and get a few books. Sadly yes they are all becoming history to due to all the technology upgrades.
Look at the Blockbusters here too, almost all gone because of Netflix.

We just had a beautiful Borders built here for Pier Park in Panama City Beach.
I know my son and I will miss it. Barnes and Noble is supposed to buy a few so hoping maybe this one will be one they will consider since its so new.
Across from our Mall in Panama City we have a Booksamillion. I actually like that place better than Borders.
I get some really good bargins and can still read a REAL book instead of all the E-reader stuff. I grew up with books so I want to read a real book when I read.

I really enjoy going to the bookstore getting a coffee and reading. Something very relaxing about that. I will miss my trips to the bookstores also. Best Wishes!
