There is an English proverb which says "Failure is the mother of success". So if this is so, why is it that there are so many people who seem not to be able to take the pain of failure.
I know of a person who took his own life because he did not get what he wants and he comes from a well-to-do family and a future doctor. Again, I have also read many stories in the newspaper of young people, actors, actresses who seemed to have it all but took their own life or took abusive substances.
So if "Failure is the mother of success", does it only goes to those who are committed to this thought and therefore does not apply to everybody?

In my younger days I was told that "FAILURE IS THE STEPPING STONE TO SUCCESS."
Therefore you have to learn from your mistakes and not brood over it.
Your failure should make you more strong and determine to succeed the next time.

Truly so and that's the way it should be. Failure shouldn't kill one.

For determined people failure just makes them dig in deeper and try harder. They feel defeat is just a step in the direction they are going. I think the saying is a positive try in the right direction. Like saying if first you don't suceed try, try again. It could have been the same guy who wrote them both just on different days. haha

thanks for sharing. I have this feeling that those who go over the edge has only tasted success so far so failure is a strange state to them and too much to handle.

thanks for your sharing. Haha, I do appreciate the fact that we might be misled sometimes and we ourselves need to identify the objective as to why we are trying hard at something. It is a cost-benefit issue at the end of the day or self-actualisation I guess.

It all depends how you look at life. How you can manage obstacles. What kind of expectation you have on yourself and on others. They say one can only take a certain amount of failure and adversity. I believe there are a few people among us who have the determination to persistently get up every time you fall of a failure over and over again. Some people who give up see no other way out or any new doors opening after years of adversity. Then there are some people who has the very strong existential survival instincs to overcome anything. Those people are rare.

thanks for your sharing. I think one gets to know oneself better in such times of failure and success and definitely our own responses to them.

Our body and mind are the form of all sort of emotions.. In body, Face is the monitor to show the expressions of mind.. So our mind is not ready to accept the pain and it oppose the pains as expressions.. The Proverb says "Failure is the mother of success" is more than 100% correct.. Also humans will follow as likely this proverb... But when one faces the failure in his life.. Firstly, he will vent out his emotions which seems like that he is not be able to take the pain of failure.. At that time, he should vent out his emotions by oppose the failure which he had.. Then after, he will realize the things, he will get some kind of refresh in his mind, he will target the goal and he will achieve what ever he wants.. Normal human being will react like this only...
Every philosophical thoughts are the output of psychological aspects...

First, one must define success. Many people are disillusioned that fame and glory are probably the ultimate success. When they don't get those, they believe they had failed.
Second, know who you are and what are you capable of. No matter one tries in the field of medicine but he is not endowed with intelligence in science, there won't be much success there.
Success is simply the happiness that you feel when you achieved something you set out to do....

It is not only the poor who suffer the effects of failure.Rich and the intelligent too have this problem. It could be that he aspires for higher things and isn't satisfied with what he has achieved. It could be peer or parental pressure. As far as celebrities go most of them have all that they desire and money can buy. They, it appears then hanker for substances which give them more kick. But this does not apply to everyone, the poor can succeed with determination.Similarly, there are level headed rich people. As far as the proverb goes failure can be the mother of all success can be made true, provided one does Analise the reason for failure and takes corrective action to set it right.

Success or failure is not exclusive to only the rich or poor. But sometimes I feel that the poor can handle failure better than the rich coz they may have less to lose. But at the end, it depends on the individual and support from the community around him or her.

The main part is that you have to digest the fact that you will also taste failure in life before you actually start achieving success. It will not always be a bed of roses all the time.Failure in the begining will always lead to success in the long run, if you have the will power to persevre for success.

The feeling of failure is always disappointing because one is trying to accomplish something which does not materialize and one wished it did. There are some who overcome and not give up and continue to try. While you have others who simply give up and then will stay with the remorse that they have no clue why it did not work out.
It is the smart ones that never give up and or reassess so that someday the success does come through. There are some that during the reassessment period of what went wrong realize it is time to give up and those are also smart because sometimes continuing to fail and realizing it will not work will keep the person satisfied that they at least gave it a try.

Pure perseverance and stubborn-ness. I guess we need to identify the objective of our pursuit and continuous trying again and again whenever we fall, fail.

I think this proverb wants to imply that failure is necessary in life because we learn a lot of it and we can use the experience we get from failure to improve ourselves and finally achieve success, but it's obvious that this proverb only applies in some situations. There are people who fail and never have the strength to get up and try again,or there are others who do get up,try to do things better and yet fail again for different reason,so this saying reflects reality only partially,it definitely doesn't represent an universal truth.

There is indeed a lot to learn from stories of failures and successes. And also the risks that we take in life.

The sweet taste of success or the bitter pill of failure. I guess we need all the support of both family and friends to make it work again.
