Whenever it is the time to give a speech or host a discussion, I feel quite uneasy when my teacher's around. She's little bit tough and like to interrupt. Usually I will make place for her and become silent, it's silly huh, but I just don't know how to deal with it.I have to say this is a big problem prevents me from making progress. How to gain confidence when there's some sort of authority there??

Just dont worry about making mistakes.. it happens.. and we have to learn from it..
Besides if she likes to interrupt, shes a pretty rude teacher! And dont think of them as being an 'authority' figure, because really they dont have any authority- they are what they are..
..Teachers...if you dont want to learn, they cannot physically force you?.. Its your parents that hold the authority on that one LoL..

This happens because we are thinking that our teachers are always superior.
I remember when one of my teacher once said ..."don't think of me as your teacher, but think i am just one of your classmates"
that's her way of giving us confidence and it works for me and my classmates,we never felt intimidated or never felt that we did wrong, but we keep going on and when our teacher butt in for some correction,we don't feel being scared but feel like having a sister or a mother giving us some advice.

Hi there. I sometimes like that.
At school, when there's some sort of graded recitation, I'm make it a point that I'm always ready to answer and recite every time. I like it when my teacher ask me to stand in front and speak something.
You know what, friend you must always be ready. You need to study every time there is a class for tomorrow. So that When the time comes, you can't be embarrassed by anybody specially with your teacher.
If you're prepared you can answer him with your whole confidence.
