Bad luck on eBay!

I keep hearing success stories about how people sell on eBay and make lots of money doing it.
I tried selling some things and NOTHING!
It's always the same, too. I have tons of views, over 10 people watching my item and then...nothing. Nobody bids.
I can list the same item that someone else is listing, in the same condition or better and their item will sell at a super high price while mine gets 1 bid.
I've tried listing in detail, giving just the basics, lots of pictures, just a few pictures - nothing seems to make a difference.
I just have bad luck when it comes to eBay! Does anyone else?

I do not sell on ebay and hardly ever buy anything from ebay. I did buy a photo light box for photography. The set was cheap and theres no stores local that I know of with these items. I bought it from a actualy company and the item new it was just through ebay.

Oh I've bought some really great stuff on eBay, but I have to say, it's always nice to buy from someone on eBay who has a company.

MKE SURE you are selling valued items. New games movies and Electroics sell great

I agree, it does seem that electronics seem to sell at a good price quickly. My kids refuse to part with their games, can't blame them! :)

Tip that got a lot more interest in my items (though I'm not trying to make it a business): either start the bidding low or start it a bit higher than usual and give them free shipping.
Free shipping really catches people's attention even if the total price is the same. It's psychological.
Low starting bids get them interested and they'll bid beyond even the "buy it now" price on similar items. Stupid, but true. People get caught up in the bidding frenzy: of course, you do risk it going at a lower price, which would suck.
Another option is to allow returns. It's riskier (especially with consumables) but encourages interest.
Good luck!

Thanks for the tip about the "free" shipping. I do start my items low in order to encourage interest - and I end up selling my items for below what they're worth or what I needed to get for them. :(

I'm sorry, it's really not that hard and they have pages on their site for newcomers to introduce you to eBay.

hello, oh I'm sorry to hear that, anyway what sort of items do you try to sell if I may ask? If you have a similar item with another member and he's get sold and yours does not, perhaps basic information should should be made simpler (just a suggestion). Try racking up a few more positive comments so your star rating increases and build trust, I did mine by being a buyer first more than a seller, bought cheap items that I could readily buy in the mall just so my transactions would increase before I tried selling. Good luck to you, oh try selling on ebayph, everything is free and no fees unlike in the U.S.

I have 100% positive feedback. I keep my listing information clean and simple. I've sold boys clothing, jewelry and lately, a pair of Chanel sunglasses that cannot be found on eBay and came with the Chanel cleaning cloth, original case, original Chanel box and original Chanel shopping bag. Had over 100 views, 11 watchers and no bids, even though other sunglasses were selling and didn't even have a case. I just have bad luck when it comes to eBay. :(
