I have once asked about how to improve spoken english and there are many kind friends gave me many suggestions.Thank you very much. I have learned now that the most effective way to improve the oral english is to speak with english people. But I am wondering that whether it's appropriate to do that? At last,I like english study very much and may I ask if there is anyone who is willing to help to improve the spoken english?Maybe I could teacher you Chinese during the process as an very little repayment. Thanks again.

english people speak different then say someone in america. just like someone from the north speaks different than someone from the south. So no I do not see how speaking to a english person will improve your english in that way. However, communication in general can help improve speaking skills.

Practice makes perfect. its not necessary that you have to speak to native Englishmen to improve your spoken language. You can speak to anyone who is good at it.Try to avoid people who are grammatically wrong since its easy to catch the habit.Listen to english NEWS regularly.Speaking a language fluently is agreat art and most people dont have this gift of the gab naturally.Read aloud any english news paper for atleast 15 minutes daily. This will help the organs of speep-lips,ears and tongue to get accustomed to the sound and vibrations. best of luck

What is inappropriate to speak with English - speaking people? A communication is human inherent ability. Even though we might speak different language, we still allow to use different form of communication to communicate with each other. I admire your persistence on learning better English, I hope that you will speak a fluent English someday.

No, its not only enough, and we are also have to do more hard work, have to go through the dictionary daily. Because no one knows the meanings of each and every word.

It is no doubt a very good advice to speak with English people for improving your speaking power in English. But the obvious question is where to get and how to get English people regularly in a non-English country.

I think that it is an excellent idea to speak regularly with English speaking people. I hope that you will find a number of different English speaking people. It is worth noting some people like to learn British English and some prefer to learn American English. I know some English speaking people will very much enjoy learning Chinese.

I was looking to learn the exact pronunciation and I find very good learning videos on YouTube in which a teacher was teaching the exact voices of the words. I loved it but talking to real humans with live is more useful I think because during live conversation you get self confidence as well. So I think its better to get help from online friends and I appreciate their time and effort to teach good peaking skills.

Writing and oral is one way of learning english languange. My son is in a private school, they are oblige to speak in English. So for him to learn it i have to speak with him in English, seldom only in our dialect. Reading also will help improve your english.

Its true that speaking a language is the best way to learn it. Same holds true for English. Speaking with an English man is a great to way learn the same. But problem may occur when there is a lot of difference in your accents. I mean whats the use of listening if you can't understand it. And if you don't understand it you won't learn it. So, in my opinion, speaking with English men is good but watch out for accents!!

It's right to talk with people who's better than us. It will improve your communication skills. You can do that here in mylot, you'll earn non-verbal communication skills here. Happy mylotting :)

Practice is the best way to improve our spoken English. And practice involves doing it, whether speaking English in front of the mirror, or better, talking to other people. Therefore, like what they said there is nothing wrong with talking to people who are more adept in speaking the language. Talking to others allow you to gauge your knowledge and know what points you need to improve so that you will understand each other more. Talking to people can allow you to learn the diction, pronunciation, fluent accent, more words, more meanings to different words, and a more general knowledge on how to interact with people using that language. And as they say, practice makes perfect. :)

I learned to speak fluent english from reading. I read any kinds of books and english magazines. It widens your vocabulary. Everytime a certain word came up that is hard to understand , i look it up in the dictionary or thesaurus.I have a journal too that i jot down some vocabularies that i encountered from reading.Once, there was an irish nun who came to our school and teach religion, i was always the one who talk to her without feeling conscious of my english. When i came here in America nine years ago, my co workers asked me how long i've been here in the states, and i told them,"just five months". they can't believe because i spoke just the same as them, though i still have an accent but yet they dont have a hard time understanding me.
