what do you surf for?

i always wondered what other people did when they were surfing the web. i am fairly limited. i enjoy ebay and will search for clothing, accessories and gift ideas. i'll sometimes download music off youtube by using a youtube video converter. i obviously go on mylot. i have a couple of ptc sites on the go.. i would sometimes check my twitter and facebook, although i have apps for both of my blackberry. amazon is another one, just to compare prices. and thats basically it. obviously unless i need to google something or search for something specific.. but what do you surf for? i know people have blogs etc, so maybe their time online is taken up with that? it's strange.. i have access to the internet 8 and a half hours a day in work and those are my very limited websites. i suppose a good lot of my time fairly recently has been spent on mylot, and inbetween doing my actual work. but do other people have a routine of what they web surf for?

I am an ebay addict, I send hours looking for bargains. YouTube also takes up a bit of my time apart from that I get sidetracked. I search for one thing and end up somewhere else lol. I keep up with a lot of movies forums mostly horror and some good download sites

oh my goodness! a fellow ebay addict lol! i'm sooo bad i'll spend hours looking for something, find it, go and see sellers other items, see something else they are selling, and then spend hours looking for a cheaper version of that! lol i'm like that on youtube too, i'll find an artist i like, a song i like, and then i'll go through all the recommendations, which change everytime you pick a new video lol.. next thing i know 4 hours has gone by lol!

Ah no way lol. ebay is a great way to max out your credit card (which I did. I learned my lesson), I got rid of mine a few weeks ago and damn it to hell, Got one of the O2 money debit cards and it great better than 3V. Ebay is like Christmas everyday when you get those packages coming I think ebay and youtube are a cohesive form of time travel

lol! i think they are! i found quints awhile back on ebay. i don't know if you know what they are, but they are these little tiny, soft babies, little dolls, and they had 5 different coloured nappies. blue, pink, purple, green and lemon.. they smell like carmex lip balm and i adored them. mum got me new ones as a child constantly. i loved the newborns.. i didn't like the ones with hair lol. and i never thought i'd have ever seen them again, and low and behold.. there they were, £22 or something insane, and i remember my mum buying me them for £2.99 when i was about 6.. lol ebay is a definite memory jogger also!

My list of sites is almost endless and this is very much the case with everyone for whom internet is the main earning source. I'll trying to categorize them rather then naming them separately... A few freelancing sites, webmaster forums etc are part of my work. A lot of networking sites including mylot and emailing sites (you forget to mentioned those ) keep me connected all the time and then there are sites just for passing a bit of time and warez sites to get all the entertainment goods on my system.

Yup email sites...like gmail, yahoomail, rediffmail etc. There are genuine ways of making money online but they are scarce and they are more hard to find with all the scams around. Not open to UK!!! You kidding me You people are in second best position to make money online, if not in the first. Right now, I am seeking a UK person to team up with me for a few things! Let me know if you are interested. I'll give you proofs or my freelancing feedback for trust, that is if you are interested.

emailing sites? for money making, or just to stay in touch? i don't make any money online. i can't find anything that actually makes any money.. i guess i;m not looking in the right places? or maybe there just isn't that much open to the uk?

I usually visit facebook since I play some games there, my email account, youtube, mylot, download some movies and music via torrents and other sites and jobstreet since I am currently looking for a new job. My routine is to check my email first, then jobstreet, facebook, fb games, mylot and youtube is the last. I will just let my torrents downloading while I surf.

torrents? whats that? aww i hate looking for jobs! i've been in my current job for 4 years now, but god i hated searching for jobs! its mind numbing! i don't mind the ones where you just submit your cv but the ones where you have to fill in application forms? hate it!

YOu know, that is interesting but i always wondered the same thing. I come online when I need to accomplish something online. I usually do academic research for my job and the little bit of making money on sites. I play a game on facebook and I write here. But I have always wondered what others do. I have a friend that will spend hours just searching for anything that has to do with music. I guess people search the web for connections with their interests.
21 Jul 11
i used to be like that with music, i'd go to all my favourite bands' websites and read all their info and blogs, then i'd download the top 40 singles chart every week, and i'd read all the raggy gossip websites to find out scummy gossip about my fav celebs lol!! i don't really do that anymore though, i like to think i'm more productive lol!

I guess we all had a time when we just surfed to our hearts content. But ah the realities of life set in and we need to find ways to pay for our indulgences online. Productivity, nice word for this. lol

I use the internet for almost everything. It is a very important resource to me and a important part of my life. I am on it all day doing numberous things and looking for more. The internet is good for school, getting items, trying to find ways to make money, etc. Best part about internet is I do not need transportation to do anything on the internet :).
22 Jul 11
do you know what! i like that! you don't need transport to do anything. i don't drive. i can, but i've never done my test and my partners birthday is coming up and i can shop for everything online and not have to worry about getting here there or anywhere to get things :)

Hi friend, i am a stock market trader. So i generally surfing the web to search stock market related news. There are many sites which i surf on regular basis like nse.com, bse.com, moneycontrol.com, etc... These all sites are related to Indian stock market because i am from India. I am online from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 4 pm. I also spend time on mylot doing my stock trading.
27 Jul 11
oh my goodness i don't understand the stock market whatsoever!! do you make a lot of money? i am completely hopeless when it comes to things like that.. i can't even pick a horse when it comes to horse racing! lol!

you see there is my downfall in black and white, maths.. i'm terrible at it. to be honest i think i'm slightly dyslexic when it comes to numbers.. for example my partners birthday is the 14th of september.. but because september is the 9th month, i merge her birthday together and end up thinking its on the 19th.. it's weird, really weird.

No, i don't make a lot of money, i made sufficient money for my family. I am not a blind trader, i have 10 years experience of stock market and do trade with help of some technical indicators. It is just like, solve some maths problem using formula.

I surf the web for many reasons, but the major reason is to find an online job where I could earn some extra money. I am not into social working sites but I would love to read articles and latest news to freshen up my mind. I also do this in my work where i really need an internet connection to surf.
22 Jul 11
yeah, online job searching seems to be a big part of peoples internet time. have you had any luck in making any money?

Just like you, I am quite limited on websites that I like. I mostly spend my time on webanswers, goodreads, mylot and my own blog. I do visit other sites but then again those I mentioned are favorites.

I usually frequent sites like abovetopsecret.com to keep up on the latest "conspiracy theories" and then head over to globalincidentmap.com to check out the latest earthquake reports. spaceweather.com is checked at least once a day and I usually pop by my blog numerous times to see how much traffic I've had during the day. Once all of that is done, I usually check my email and then head over to a few of the bookmarked sites I enter online contests at. Nothing wrong with trying to win a few prizes while surfing around. Coupon sites have me hooked too, but here in Canada, coupon sites are pretty weak. :) It sounds like you need to expand your surfing a bit...check out my website on my profile page. It's pretty unique and if you're bored one day, maybe you'll start a blog and a trade-up journey of your own. L8R

I do a lot of posting on tumblr, I have a blog over there that I need to keep updated. It takes up a huge portion of my time if I have to go researching for some original blog content. Also I do a lot of sketching and drawing using the pictures that are found on the net. I need loads of inspiration so I could brainstorm and gather ideas for my next creations. Most of the time I search tutorials on jewelry making I'm really planning to start an online shop soon where I plan on selling jewelry and other handmade fashion merchandise so I do some researching on internet marketing and familiarize myself with online promotional tools.
21 Jul 11
i love handmade jewellery so please add me as a friend and keep me posted! what kind of things do you make? i have a hand made chain that has a big skull on it, that has a big pink bow. i also used to have a bracelet that was little fruits, littlw watermelons and stuff :) do you make any money from tumblr?
