What paintings do you think are deep and profound for you?

What I mean to say is.. have you ever witnessed a painting that spoke to your soul? Just by looking at it you've felt something awakened in you. To me a painting that's profound has beyond technical skills it shouldn't just be well drawn there should be some x-factor, some kind of mystery, something personal in it to be profound. Like for example The Starry Night of Vincent Van Gogh...

Funny how you mention The Starry Night. I copied the painting and painted it myself. It was quite fun. I have a eclectic sense of taste when it comes to most things and even more so when it comes to art. Now I am necesaryly into abstract art just certain ones. It has to not only speak to me, but actualy have a meaning to it. I realy do not like child like paintings (my kid can paint better than some of the artists out there and he is nine)

I agree meaningful art can add up to how profound a painting can be. I find childlike paintings to be some sort of abstract art I mean when you think about what Picasso said about him ending up painting like a child with all the abstract and disfigured portraits he'd been doing later on in life... But to be honest I don't think realistic drawing skills is the foundation of good art. Van Gogh painted The Starry Night without even seeing a real starry night...

I haven't had much experience with paintings. Especially ones by famous artists. I have seen some amateur things I like, but I never went so far as to research artists either. I like the "Footprints" poem in the form of a painting as I have seen many variations of it. I am however, more inclined to learn about a paintings. I'm becoming more of a decorator.

The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh is my favorite painting...It does pull me into the painting and I feel like I'm lost in the sky among all his stars.Very beautiful work of art!
