What is the abbreviation for Mistress?

One of my friend post on facebook asking for this question above. Because this is his son assignment or homework and she's not sure about her answer. That's why she ask for help. When I search it on google it says that the abbreviation for Mistress is Mrs. but when my friend searched on her phone she said its not Mrs. it is Mss. Is it true that the mistress abbreviation is Mss? Mylotters friend kindly give me an opinion about this?

As far as I know, Mistress is abbreviated as Mrs. and not Mss. The Mrs. is used to classify a married Mistress, while the unmarried is Miss or Ms. Perhaps, the Mss. is an abbreviation of Mistresses or Misses. or the plural form of it.

:) thanks for your answer, actually I research for that also. And I get confused when my friend told me that I am wrong when I answered her Mrs.

I think it would be Mss. Now. I've also heard it as being abbreviated that way. Now you're friends sons homework might be asking for the proper / old way, and so that would be Mrs.
I don't know what else to suggest to be honest, is there nothing like that abbreviated in the son's books?
