Has anyone of you tried to learn a new language recently?
well for me, I was trying to learn to read Japanese characters. I'm still at the basic like the characters for A, E, I, O , U, KA, KE , KI, KO,KU,..etc. I'm on it for almost a week now and I'm getting the hang of it. I'll make it a goal to complete this within 3 months. How about you my fellow myLotters?

Hi everyone!
You actually reminded me of this katakana/hiragana thing. We have this during college and can't barely recall any of it anymore. I guess it should be practiced more often as I find it complicated. We also have alibata before which actually our Filipino alphabets came from. It's really interesting to learn new things. Good luck on your new language.

Hi chayannejaye!
Colleges and universities normally offers a foreign subject no matter what degree program you choose. The language studied usually depends on the resources available so even in college you just can't select the language of your choice. i guess we could have studied french or spanish if we had an instructor for that but we don't. What we only have that time is a nippongo instructor so we have katakana and hiragana.

Thanks sais06!
Your right, practice is the key here. That's why I'm doing it in a daily basis.

Where did you study in college.. How nice that you had a foreign language subject. I just wish that they would make a program in the future in which student in highschool can pick what they are interested in learning beside speaking english and tagalog to study.and its not mandatory only those who are interested can apply for that..

Very long ago, when I was a kid,I stared learning English and I am still onto it! Meanwhile I have realized that languages are not my cup of tea and hence I am going to stick to Hindi (it goes well in most parts of India if you know Hindi) and English (where ever Hindi can't help) for the rest of my life.
Good luck picking a language in 3 week mate.

I think you did well because your English is not bad. And since its an international language it will be very useful to you.
Ei, it's not 3 week,it's 3 months. Thanks for the response.

My bad...sorry
My English good! Really.
Well we can always look up a lot of words as we have as much time as we wish to utilize to post a response here. But face to face communication is where you really got to know the crux of the matter.

I travel to countries in different parts of the world on my business trips quite often. Yes, indeed, it helps a lot if one can speak the language of the country, even if it is just the basics. I speak a little bit of German, and I am trying pick up some basic words in Thai.

Well, I'm trying to improve my English and believe me it's a hard work. To learn well a language requires a great effort, but one will be happy when you see progress. I got an offer in order to learn basic Italian during two months and maybe I will do it. It's a great thing to learn another language because you can learn more about yours. Then go ahead and enjoy your learning of Japanese!
