If any one ask you " How are you?", we mostly applied " I am fine" why? most people are speaking false, we are happy, we are satisfied with life, why we'll are making a base of false thoughts. Why we must reply I am fine???

Because it's better for you. Because if you answer "I'm miserable, I'm unhappy or I'm frustrated" definitely very soon you'll feel this way even if you're fine now. I think it's much better to be positive in life. If I answer negatively it won't make me feel better and also it'll make the person who asked feel bad that s/he asked at all. Why all this hustle then? You just answer that you're fine and try to reach this state :). Good luck!

I excuse but i want to explain somthing. Why we are not "disable" to say I am not fine?, because we are nagative about our fillings,if we say i am not happy then opposite person will think about us nagatively. thats the reason mostly, we'll are saying about nagative & possitive but "" WHo will deside what is NAGATIVE and WHAT is possitive"" that the main factor. My thought - why any person asking you : how are you?, because he/she really want to know your condition. so we'll are hide our troubles, opposite person is not your friend?, not your relative?

Great Job! First of all! i have to clear tat, conversation language in startup " how are you" is terminated now days, " we are now using- " Hope You all fine", this word is very perfact then how are you?, still any one asks in srating of lecture, you are not bond to give answer to him/her., if asker is not close person with you. The person who are very close to us, we can explain our fillings, so why say " I am fine"

Yes, you have a point but at the same time if the person who is asking you how are you cannot help your condition why to make them unhappy as well. Of course we're not talking about the people who are asking you this question just because they don't have anything else to say or because it's a polite way of greeting people and they don't really want to know how you are :). I mean that most of the people use this question just to start a conversation. The people who really mean to ask this are the people close to you. I can tell them how I really feel but the question is why? Why to make somebody close to me sad only because I don't feel good?

it's not really necessary to reply with "I'm fine". I reply however I am feeling. At times I say "not so good". Sometimes I say "bored", sometimes "Ok". So yeah for me it differs. I just say how I am feeling.

What a great question this is! i know that whenever someone ask "how are you?" we all have one simple answer that "i am fine", just because we don't want to share any sorrow or trouble with the other because the other person wants to ask for our wellness and he hopes for a positive response. "it is not always right to share our troubles with all persons, directly or indirectly related to us" a great man said this long time ago.

i think it might come out of politeness, we don't want to make others feel bad for giving a negative response to their question, it could be something like that, but who knows?

It depends upon the person your talking too. Sometimes I don't feel comfortable talking to people i don't personally know.

I think when you know the person asking you about how you are doing doesn't care that much or not very close you prefer a short answer that will end the conversation faster.. but when someone who really cares asks you tend to tell him/her how you really feel and discuss your personal emotions with… nice topic :)

If someone ask me that question, I would normally answer my current mood. I want to be transparent to people and not telling them "I'm fine" when I am sad or depress.

Hello I think that if the answer is not possible you risk to beat off your friend or well known interlocutor.Sometimes the people beat off their friends with negative things and usualy the people stay out of this kind of comunication. It happens unconsciously and we make the first step to say "fine thanks" just to start new positive and sensible communication each other. That's my modest opinion and in different cases can be different.

I'm fine and when i said I am then nothing is wrong. I totally express my feelings, I also express my negative vibes like "I'm bored today", "I ain't fine", I don't look good today. lol Some people aren't telling the truth when they feel bad, just defense mechanism "DENIAL".

Hi, there! I think, the reason why we always reply "I'm fine" whenever someone asks us how are we is the fact that saying "I'm fine" doesn't require you to explain your feelings rather than saying that you do not feel good or you have problem or whatever reason it is. I guess, most people don't want explaining themselves to others. I do the same most of the time. I say "I'm fine" even if I'm not feeling okay because I don't want to bother anyone because of my problem. :)

Hi Ravalarun, you have pointed out a very interesting topic.I agree that we usually say "I am fine".In my words it is the easy way to convey message. And sometimes we don't want to let others know about our sorrow ,and make them sad. Nevertheless friend, nice topic.Thank you very much.Have a nice week end ahead.

Yes sometimes we use to reply this word "I am fine" just to end and put a period on this question. Why? Because if you are in a bad mood and you will tell to that person what you really feel then for sure the second question come. lol;) So to avoid people keep asking you, you just simply replied them "I am fine".
