I have an abscess - AGAIN! its like the countless time i have. I am not sure if what other people use term for it, my doctor used that term - abscess, one said it is a boil because it has an eye in the middle which looks pretty disgusting since it is field with pus...wahh pretty painful and it is in my thigh right now, Here in my city it is called "pustema" i am not sure what it is called in "tagalog" But i can definitely say it is PAINFUL! majorly painful! My daughter took a picture of it but i refuse to post it here because it looks pretty disgusting. really disgusting it is red all over and my whole thigh is swelling. I was given this antibiotic to stop the swelling and mefenamic for the pain but it is not working. I had it more than twice, thrice in my elbow, then my shoulder and now at my thigh is much painful because i was wearing pants and boy it hurts!! Doctor said he cannot incise it but we can wait for the "eye" to pop out! I have read herbal remedies and one of it is ginger..and some herbal leaves we have here in Philippines like gumamela.. i did try and it is helping because ginger is a bit cold and eases the heat i can feel in the pus.. but still painful. Hope it pops - asap! and doc said i need to refrain myself from eating eggs.. because it causes more swelling.

Some people are prone to these infections. Can you get a cortizone cream? If you can keep track of your diet you may find what causes them for you. Some people who are prone to diabetes get these as well. I hope you figure out what is going on for you.

I worked with someone who had this problem a lot, that is what the doctor had her use. It reduces inflammation. Her mom said citrus fruit caused it for her, but she was diabetic, and I have read that diabetic people have this problem a lot.

oh i might go and ask for that because currently i am using herbal stuff.. but i might go and try that, anything that will remove this because it is pretty painful. My doctor had my blood tests and my sugar is indeed a bit high but not serious enough that is why he advised me to reduce sweets and those high with sugar well.. and i do eat a lot egg and he said i must also stay away from it because it can make it swell more.

Oh dear,i know it's painful. I've experienced that long time ago. Yes it is called "abscess" due to the presence of pus,it is called in Filipino "pigsa" I remember my grandfather give me herbal remedy using hibiscus flower "gumamela" by pounding it until it become soft and put all over the "abscess". It's kinda cool and will ease some pain and also will help the "pigsa" to become ripe quickly. it will also help the pus to come out or the eye to popped out without pain. wish you will feel fine soon my friend.

you should not wear pants..or else it will irritate the "boil" and will cause some infection...clean it with warm water, with vinegar and salt...best antiseptic (you can asks doctors about it)

I know how you feel my friend. It's really painful having one and they even pick the wrong places.I have experienced one before and it gave me a hard time for a week.My cousin advises me that when it ripens I must fit the mouth of an empty soda bottle to it's eye and press it hard so that the eye will pop out into it, but I have to bear the pain. And I just did that and I'm a bit relieve with the pain the next day. Others says that we are more susceptible of having abscess if we are diabetic.Poor nutrition can also be one cause. I hope it healed soon my friend. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah my husband tried that when he had boil last year and he was literally crying out in pain when my cousin popped it using a bottle. i do not think i could do that, i have very low pain threshold and i might just wait for it to ripen and pop up. I am putting some herbal leaves in it to pop out right away.

Yeah, your right the pain is unbearable.I guess it only last for a week if I remember it right before it subsides.Yes some herbal leaves do helps in shortening the time to ripens.A natural remedy used by our folks then.

That's a boil and we call it in Tagalog as "pigsa" and same term here in our province. I always have that before when i was drinking "squalene" , a deep sea fish oil, which helps in detoxifying the body. And one manifestation of its detoxifying effect is having the boisl. Good that it's always in my upper part of the butt . Actually, i took antibiotics for it. It simply dries it out and when it's dry you can just peel it off. But be sure that you apply "cebo de macho", lest it will leave a dark scar.

yes it is throbbing. Its like something is pricking it and doing it over and over again. It is pretty irritating.

The pain is throbbing isn't it. I guess it's because of the "mata". You have a lot o toxins too, that's why you get boils.

Gee, getting boils like this, is not Fun. Like others have mentioned here, have you ever been tested to see if you are Diabetic, or are they giving you an Antibiotic besides creams? I know back when my Sugars used to be high a lot of the time I have been prone to these, or when I am getting an infection somewhere. If I were you, I would consider having them Test you for Diabetes and see if this could be some of the underlying cause as well.

Months back, my doctor had my blood test and said my sugar is a bit high but he didn't really said if i am diabetic..but i might go and have myself checked again because i did read some information regarding abscesses and people who are indeed diabetic often has it.

jazel--juan oh my ouchi ouchi ouchi. sounds as painful as it probably is. I once had an infected sebaceous cyst on my back and that was truly painful. I finally had the sac of the cus removed and no more cysts. Your thigh is a really bad place to have a boil as your pants and everything else will rub on it and kept it inflamed. Hope it does come to a head soon so the doctor can remove the core of the thing.I had not heard that about eggs though, interesting indeed. I always learn new things each day here. I do hope your boil pops and you are soon out of pain. God bless hugs from hatley.

very painful Hatley, its like torture! I can really see the head of it forming and it looks like it wants to pop out but my husband said it is still not going to..after a day or so it might just pop out. I have purchased bandage and put herbal medicine in it so it will ripen right away. I sure do hope this guy comes out fast!

Youch that doesn't seem very fun at all! I have had an abcessed tooth and it's painful, I couldn't see it myself (it was at the back) but was told by an ER doctor that it looked abcessed. Funny thing is I ended up at th ER because of the booger, and just needed some nerve medicine (one dose) and one dose of an antibiotic and I was fine. It sounds like a boil or pustual (I THINK that is how you spell it) and doesn't sound very fun at all. I hope the boil pops soon so that it can be taken care of. Did he offer any preventative care?

In our place it is called "mata ug tiki" or literally in English it means "eye of the lizard." It sounds funny but the thing really looks like the eye of the lizard. I haven't tried it but my brother used to have one on his behind and the doctor suggested surgery. The eye got removed by operation by the doctor because it was digging its way towards other parts of the body. It never bothered him again after that.

I think you should try putting warm sponge on it to ease the pain. It will also help the "eye" to pop out I think. And try some turmeric to help heal it and keep it clean. I hope it works :)
