Messi or Ronaldo

Who do you think is better? Leo Messi or Ronaldo. I personally prefer Messi. In my opinion he is a pure genius.
Messi has proven that he is one of the best players in the world in his games for Barcelona.
Maybe some of you would say that he did not play that well at Copa America but I still think he tried hard and his passes in the match against Costa Rica were just brilliant.
Ronaldo is a good player but Messi is just better.
Well, at least this is my point of view, please tell me what do you think.

I would both are great players. Both play very well for their respective clubs, but have been disappointing for their respective countries. Ronaldo has been partially more successful in lifting the fortunes of his country than Messi. Talent wise I think both are equal, but I feel Messi is better as a team player than Ronaldo and hence he is a shade better than Ronaldo.

Both are incredible players but I would give the edge to Cristiano Ronaldo. I have had a good few arguments with a couple of mates about this very subject and when making my point I have tried to label them as 1a and 1b as there really is not much between them. In 55 games last season Messi scored 53 goals. Cristiano scored the same in one less game. In Ronaldo's first season at Real he played around twenty less games than Messi in that season and I said that when they play around the same amount of games Ronaldo is slightly better and that for me was shown with this season's incredible stats.

The comparison has been going on for a long time. In my opinion, Messi is much more a team player than Ronaldo. But having said that, Messi is capable of turning into a one-man showpiece for Barcelona. Based on this, I would think the Argentine is a much better player than the Portuguese. Having said that, both players have an annoying habit of going missing when they don the national colours.

i think both Messi and Ronaldo have an equal individual skill, but i like Messi character better than Ronaldo.

Yes, surfer222, Messi seems like "the nice guy", while Ronaldo is a bit of a show off.
