Is there anyone here in mylot knows how to do stock exchange, I am planning to invest this month and would like to know more before I go to a seminar. I want to know more about the lot board table. I mean if you have a minimum of 10 shares does it mean that you can only 10 shares in a stock market? I am really curious on this one, or that is just a minimum and I can maximize it after? Need your wisdom guys! Thanks

Board lot system is the minimum amount of shares tha can be bought, determined by a stock's market price. For example, the current market price of JFC or Jollibee right now is 88.00 pesos. If you look at the board lot table, if the price range is from 50.00 to 99.5 pesos then the board lot is 10. So that means the minimum Jollibee shares you can buy is 10, and the amount you pay will be 880.00 pesos. However, you cannot buy "butal" like 11 or 12 shares, but only in the increment of the board lot which in this example is 10...So after 10 then it will be 20 and so forth.

Thank you greenpeas for your informative reply, if 10,20 that means the total shares or lot that I can buy in the market is up to 90 and not 100? is that it? or I can still buy 100 shares? I really need to educate myself in this part. and other strategies. Safety and Peace!

@exkrima: no. You can buy as many as you want for all I know. You can buy 90, 100, 1000, etc. But you can never buy 91, 101, 102, 1005...Because the board lot for JFC is 10 that means you can only buy JFC stocks in groups of 10. There's board lot table you can download from pse.com.ph or citiseconline.com in ebooks tutorials.

You can buy as many shares as you could afford. First thing first exkrima, You should try to determine first your investment goals and determine which kind of strategies you want to employ. You could start off to educate yourself by reading different books and blogs online. You could may want to watch some tutorials posted in youtube.

The Board lot table just says the minimum stocks you could buy of a particular company at the current market price.

Yes you could still buy stock by 100 shares and above. However it would be in steps of the minimum board lot requirement. Let's take for example MA, Manila Mining which closed at 0.058 last friday. Since the price of MA is in the range of 0.0500 to 0.2490 and has the required lot size of 10,000. So the minimum you could buy in the normal board lot system is 10,000 and multiples thereafter. You could not buy 15,000 if your in the normal board lot.

Citiseconline (a stock market broker) allows you to buy/sell shares of stocks in odd lots. You may check their website and go to the FAQs section. I had a personal experience on this when I bought a stock that crossed the 0.50 price mark. At first the stock was trading at 0.55 when I bought 7,000 shares of it. Later on, it went below 0.50. I decided to sell it off. So I used the odd lot. Below is a portion of the board lot and the corresponding price range. This is not a complete list. Price Range Board Lot 0.25-0.495 10,000 0.50-4.990 1,000
