I have been in both bangkok and pattaya last month.pattaya is good place. I think you have been booked hotel there if not then booked it. For site seeing,in pattaya If you want to visit coral island, you can hire speed boat. but they ask you double charges. so you need to bargain. Another attraction of pattaya is costume shows, there are many but Alcazar is popular one. Bangkok is cheaper if you want to buy electronics or dresses. If you want buy dresses buy from Bangkok you will get cheaper. Go to Big C or night market to buy dresses other things. If you purchase over 2000bhat your Vat will be returned. Be sure to keep all bills.

I've been to Bangkok twice...be careful, don't buy jewelries if you are not so familiar with the stores....you still have one month to research....I did a lot of research before I went there for me to have an idea how to get around....upon arrival first thing you do is go to the nearest bookstore and buy a map that has a public transportation guide. the river taxi tour was fine...it was not actually a tour, it is another form of transportation so I got on board and jump off from one terminal to the other and hang around in the vicinity....you can also travel with the light rail transit...traffic is aalso terrible in Bangkok. visit the temples they are very nice, food is excellent and not expensive...don't forget, the map and the bus guide is the key!
