It is a long belief that people have a longer life span than others, usually 90 years old or older, they tend to exercise more and eat healthily. Like calorie - restricted diet, and they watch what they are eating. According to statistics, watch your daily consumption on calories, it might elongate your life span around 30 more years. It also mean that you might need to give up some delicious meals per day.
Here is the option for all of us to choose. Follow the guideline of healthy diet, eating less amount of calorie per day, also mean giving up good tasty food, but exchange for longer life. Or you rather have delicious meal on your mouth, but shorter life span? I might choose the latter. What about you?

Hi kingparker. I think we can do it in moderation. Because some foods or chemicals contain these so called "free radicals" which causes let's say a bad mutation of the cell which may increase the risk of normal counts of oncogenes ( cancer cells) which may lead to cancer or other diseases. Vitamin A, C, and E are very helpful to eradicate this. High fiber diet have been proven one of the best diet we can have. It is very advisable to eat different kinds of food everyday and try following the food pyramid:)

I want to lead a good life with good quality. It might happen that a prisoner will live a long life at his cell. I don´t want to be a prisoner of the many books about dieting, living without this or that.
I think that a normal happy life includes reasonable amounts of any delicious food you might think about.
I´m now on a diet because I´m on chemo. But I did not become a prisoner of the booklet. I just made an awesome cake with a bit of oil instead of the not allowed butter and just one egg yolk and more whites. I just tried it: the best. I was thinking that if it was too boring I´d put some apricot jam, but it doesn´t need it.
I´m rethinking about my best recipes and twist them a little so as to be accepted by the booklet and by me.
Noone can say how long he will life. Let´s live happy meanwhile.

I am not really sure about that. some healthy people die alot sooner than someone who does not take care fo themselves. I think it all depends on each individual person.

I don't think it's directly to do with the amount of calories that you eat, but overweight people are more likely to die prematurely than you are if you're of a healthy weight; and in addition to this if you eat more calories you're more likely to be overweight so both of them work together really. I would prefer to keep myself of a healthy weight and live for longer, but that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy nice meals for every now and again. You can give yourself treats in moderation; there's no need to have treats all of the time though, is there.
