I Love Helping...

The night before last I went to help out with building a home for Extreme Makeover Home Edition. The lady we were building for was a veteran and she was taking in Homeless people in her 2 bedroom house! It was such a good feeling helping out. They came to our town this week and it was amazing. We were out there in 100 degree weather sweating and doing things I didn't know I could do but the feeling of helping was so worth every drop of sweat. Do you like helping people? What have you done lately to help someone?

god i'm forever helping people. whether its using up my breaks to phone a friend who needs to talk, giving up quiet nights in with my other half to take a friend out whos down, or inviting people round who live with their parents and have no where to go to get away, even though all i wanted to do was stick my jammies on and act like a slob lol! i cook my fiancee dinner, and i'm forever giving my sister sites to download freebies from lol! i love helping people :)

i don't think i could write to a prisioner. i'm quite bitter of a person and i find somethings that some people do completely unforgiveable and i don't think i could write to someone if they had done something really bad!

Well the man I write to honestly, he knows what he did was wrong but as a parent myself I know the desperation I feel when my children are hungry. He stole from a store to get food for his son who was crying because he was hungry. It was still wrong but he was 18 or 19 when he did it and I could understand that he panicked...So, I do write to him because I feel in that situation it was his fault but it's not something that I think he is evil for...

Me too! I love helping others. It is an amazing feeling. That is a lot to do and I do the exact same type of things for people. I also write to prisoners, the ones that aren't a threat to me or my family, and I give food to the homeless people. I love it. It is a great reward to be able to help!

I wish that show would come near here where I live. Not only will I like helping, I would also like to get ideas to make my house more beautiful! I don't get to help other people much. There is just this once a month volunteer that I do, but that's about it.

Glad to hear (read) your point of view on what and how the show really is. I guess when it's made for TV, it has to appear as everything is really great. And yes, I think I would rather do it for Habitat for Humanity. But not now, maybe when my kids are older and are out of the house. Then maybe I could devote most of my time helping others.

It was really nice but I am not going to lie to you, the show seems to be something different on TV than it actually is. We never got to see the inside of the house while we were there. We could only work outside because we weren't builders or anything. I think everyone should have been able to help everywhere. Second, the producers were not very nice people and they weren't grateful for the help they got. All they seemed to care about is the saying The show must go on, which upset me a lot. Third, I thought the people on the show help with the work too and they honestly don't. None of the crew was there until the last day when the house was done... It really made me look at the show in a new perspective. I was disappointed. I am VERY glad I helped for the woman that needed it and for myself. But the show, I wouldn't do it again. I would rather build for Habitat For Humanity...

How awesome! I bet you got a good tan! It's so great to have such a good feeling of accomplishment. With the health problems that have landed me on disability I have not been able to do anything physical to help out other people. But I do try to do what I can, when I can. There are chances all around, we just have to be willing to see them. You go girl!

It was awesome! This lady deserved it. It's good just to do what you can. You know, when I didn't have money or anything to help anyone I found a website to write to people that needed someone to talk to, prisoners. Now I think I am going to write to him and I would like to maybe find an orphanage and write to a child to brighten their day a little bit too. Something free and it will help! =)

That's really an accomplishment my friend.I could also imagine the heat your group have to bear just to have it done. Yeah, helping others gave you a feeling of satisfaction.Even though your a woman and I guess you have no knowledge how it will be done, but still your happy help them. I have not experienced to help in building a home yet, but if given the chance I would love to do it too.You sweat it out my friend for a good cause.

I have seen also on video tape shown on television some organizations that do helps to build homes for those who can not afford to build their own.It includes men doing the major jobs and women helping in minor ones. And I've seen in their faces sweating it out to help.Yeah, it's a good feeling if you have done something that benefit others.

Thank you. Yes we were nasty looking and feeling but it was worth it! Yeah it was very satisfying to help this woman out. She was helping so many others so it felt good to be able to give back to her. I do know how to build a home actually somewhat because I have watched my husband and he has taught me many things. Don't always think women cannot do what a man can please.

Thats fantastic that you were given the opportunity to help make such a difference in this woman's life - it sounds like she really deserved it! I love helping others, I find that every time I am able to do even the smallest thing to make someone's day, it helps me to grow as a person and I feel this rush of joy in the fact that I have been able to help someone. Even just little things that buying a loaf of bread for the homeless man outside the supermarket can help you to play your part in helping others.

It was great and she did so deserve it! She helped so many others so it was nice to be able to help her in return. I love helping as well. I wish there were more people like us in this world. There's not enough.

Really!? That sounds wonderful. Good for you. Must be really fun. I love helping people too. It makes me feel good. I help others in any way I can and if I have the time. I help in my very own little ways because that is all I can do for the moment. Keep it up!

Yes, it was incredible. It was fun and hard work but it was worth the hard work. I enjoyed helping someone that helped so many others. I have learned that it doesn't take much to help. I started writing to a prisoner and he just needs someone to talk to. Next on my list is to write to an orphan. I'm sure they need someone to talk to as well. Then after that, I will write to someone in a nursing home. Or maybe even go to one and just talk to them... There's sooo many ways to help that don't cost any money at all! =)

I love helping people I used to go and volunteer at a nursing home and just sit and talk to the elderly, or read to them or just help to feed them, it is something I think should be something everyone should have a go at, to feel how good it is to help people, what a wonderful world if everyone helped those who could do with a little leg up...

Very much but today I know better when to help. There are people that asked for my help but they were taking advantage of me, they were just lazy and opportunists, and I was fooled by people like this, always feeling compassion until I was 24. That's when I wake up. Even the bff I had that time was using me. I supported her even offered she to come live with me and I would afford to her and her TWO KIDS like I was a husband, can you believe that? That's how stupid I was. That was the biggest thing I offered someone. I told her she could live there for a year, never pay me back as she was suffering so much with her husband and I know women with children have no where to go. When all was over, I break up my hardest relationship ever, that's when she begun to be too buzy to even listen to me for 10 minutes...She didn't want to go out...I mean she never gave me comfort for 4 years we talked everyday. I can't count how many times I answered her phone at 3am and she couldn't talk to me? So I wake up. Today I'm glad I had a friend like this, it was the final drop. No she's not my friend anymore and this type of people. So I begun to seek for those who really need and I came up with the elderly and the animals. I have 6 rescued Animals, they were all adults and sick. I volunteered for 2 years in my country in an elderly home. I was their daughter, they were sooooo sweet...most were depressed, thrown in there and forgotten by their own sons and daughters, it was really sad. Some would fall into depression and die a week later. I saw one become blind and also she became another person, cursing and even threatning to hit me. Oh how much they suffer. I don't volunteer here cause I don't speak fully japanese and I know lots of them don't like people from my country so I think I would bother more than help. So I begun rescuing animals. There's no better feeling. I think it's the only way to please God: to help each other, to help HIS children, not paying to any church or even going to temples, it's with our actions.

Yes, I love helping too at the best possible I can. But I do not usually give donations too beggars because I've read it on the Constitutional law that it is illegal or prohibited. Best help I can is pray for all people in the world that God may guide them and grant them things they deserve:)

Yeah helping is so great. You don't have to give money to help people. You can donate food, you can write to people that are lonely and have no visitors, or you can go ask an elderly person if they need anything. Sometimes they just need someone to talk to...There are so many ways to help people!
