i just watched a true to life story movie, "soul surfer". Bethany was amazing and a very strong person. she never let the fear and being one handed conquered her. she give other people a new perspective in life and get it from them as well. its not that being disabled will stop you from doing what you loved the most. you just have to believe in your self and take the rest. everything has its own purpose in life. you just have to figure it out in our own little way. and she quoted " LIFE is lot like surfing. when you get caught in the impact zone, you need to get right back up. because you'll never know whats on the next wave. and if you have FAITH, anything is possible. AT ALL " Bethany Hamilton, top professional surfer. so for those people who are in burden, lets go ride our WAVES of LIFe and conquer our fear!

I saw that movie too. Awesome and inspiring, for sure. My Dad only had one arm (lost it in a farm accident when he was 40.) He never really saw himself as disabled, and would figure out how to do almost anything with just one arm. Bethany is like that too, the 'never give up' attitude. Personally, I cannot imagine swimming with only one arm, like if you got dumped off the surfboard. I have to give her a lot of credit. So many people, when they lose a limb, see it as an end to doing the things they love, yet with faith and perserverance, you learn to adapt and work around it. I see you're fairly new here, so, welcome to the group Flip...

I've been a Bethany fan for ages. I first read about her in my Christian Teen Girl's magazines. It was either Guidepost's Sweet 16 or Brio, but they had an article about her. I also read her book, also called "Soul Surfer" which was really inspiring. She mentioned the movie deal in the book, but it seemed like ages passed between reading about the deal and actually finding a mini-poster for the movie in my goodie bag at the Revolve Tour. I absolutely love the movie, she has a really inspiring story! I just bought the DVD today. It's hard to believe that even after suffering such a traumatic attack and devastating loss, that she was able to get back in the water again... let alone keep surfing! She's one of my heroes for sure.
